Jaffa
@Doctorsrcrap This has been a long time suffering with this lower back pain. I’m so very sorry that you are struggling non stop with this. Do you have to take pain killers or are you just waiting this out? I wish I had some wise words to offer but while I’ve experienced increased body pain in withdrawal, it’s usually got better within a month and symptoms morph into something else. This has been prolonged for you. I’m interested to see what the MRI shows. In the meantime I just want you to know that I’m thinking of you and hoping with all that’s in me that this gets better for you soon. ❤️ 1 2003 Paxil - I can't remember the dose but I think it was 10mg experienced horrendous akathisia when starting for 3 weeks then okay 2004. slow reduction to 0 , withdrawal symptoms, so reinstated to 10mg - again horrendous Akathisia which lasted 5 weeks. 2005 - attempted to slowly taper off and again Terrible withdrawal so reinstated and endured akathisia until it settled. No adverse reaction with the switch except terrible diorreah 2006 tried once more to come off Zoloft carefully with terrible results. reinstated Zoloft and used 2.5 mg of zyprexa to help Akathisia- horrid episode lasted 3 months with some akathisia and severe depression which I’d never had before. Withdrawal from zyprexa ( depression) 2008 50 mg of Zoloft then after 6 months I tapered to 25 mg and decided to stay there . 2012 stress event and peri menopause acute anxiety which led to, updosing to 125 mg, tortuous symptoms(akathisia) then stabilized, back to 50 mg- 2014 - same again down to 25 with Akathisia on updosing and a hospital visit. 2019 - 2023 Zoloft tapering by 2 mg linear taper every 3 months started at 50 mg, got to 25 mg around January 2023. Insomnia, anxiety, blunted good feelings. 2023 June- Zyprexa taken twice, ativan 1 mg taken once, temazepan infrequent but 15- 18th of June used for 4 nights 2023 August - introduced 7.5 mg of mirtazapine for 12 days then 15mg of mirtazapine. Doctorsrcrap
Told my Dr about the unrelenting back and leg ache I'm having. Along with my other symptoms of course. No help whatsoever. Her response it could be your mental health. It's like they want me to lose my **** so they can say, see we told you. I just calmly said, I realise you think I'm a hypochondriac but I know my body and believe me I don't have an anxiety problem. Didn't get me anywhere though. Looks like I'm just doomed to suffer. PortugueseSea
Yeah, doctors ignore or neglect such syndromes. Given your drug history, and taking into account you have been on an AP, to have agitation and weird bodily sensations this far out is not surprising, except for doctors lol. I find that symptom tracking really helps me cope and visualize my recovery long term. My agitation used to be at unbearable levels, so was head pressure and burning sensations in my neck. They are not unbearable anymore and I can function, uncomfortably, but I can. Hang in there brother! December 2021 - Metoclopramide started. Akathisia symptoms start; Metoclopramide gets changed to PRN. March 2022 - Akathisia diagnosed; Metoclopramide stopped; Propranolol 10mg x twice a day. Biperiden PRN (0.5mg to 1mg). April 2022 - Tandospirone 30mg (10mg 3x day), Quetiapine 25mg (only taken once, immediate adr). Mirtazapine 7.5mg. . Discontinued Propranolol. May 2022 - Mirtazapine upped to 15mg. Tandospirone cut to 2x 10mg. Low dose Depakote for the month; 100 to 200 to 100 to 0. Mirtazapine cut back to 11.75mg (3/4 of a 15mg pill).June 2022 - Mirtazapine updose to 15mg. Tandospirone, Biperiden discontinued. Klonopin started PRN (0.5mg). September 2022 - Akathisia slowly starts improving, WD/ADR normal sets in in mid September. Hold for 4 months.March 2023 - Off mirtazapine; no Klonopin for 5 months either! Started quercetin (250mg x 2) to soften the histamine rebound. May 2023 - Stopped quercetin and changed from magnesium carbonate to oxide - reacted badly. Reverted back to carbonate. June 2023 - Added fish oil.Current regimen: CALM Magnesium (Carbonate into Citrate) 175mg x2; Vitamin E 268mg x2; Fish oil (100mg Omega3; EPA 30mg; DHA 37mg)x2 Intro thread: https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/27095-portuguesesea-metoclopramide-akathisia-and-mirtazapine/ Link to comment

Jaffa
@Doctorsrcrap 🙏🏻💕 1 2003 Paxil - I can't remember the dose but I think it was 10mg experienced horrendous akathisia when starting for 3 weeks then okay 2004. slow reduction to 0 , withdrawal symptoms, so reinstated to 10mg - again horrendous Akathisia which lasted 5 weeks. 2005 - attempted to slowly taper off and again Terrible withdrawal so reinstated and endured akathisia until it settled. Psychiatrist changed me over to Zoloft so that I could have another baby. June 2023- health anxiety and what feels like withdrawal again. Sleep now ok but daily life depression, anhedonia, agitation and a weird feeling of being sedate and anxious at the same time. Currently holding. Jaffa
@Doctorsrcrap That's right! I asked that same question in the comments. Jaffa
@Doctorsrcrap I don't know the answer to that question. I'm sorry. She says the doctor only put her on the tiniest amount, even less than what they would give a child and it helped her enough for her to be able to do the rehabilitation exercises. In her case this seemed like a good decision. It could be that she can now come off the drug but perhaps she is scared because she has only recently healed. I don't think that small amount of the amiltryptiline was the complete answer . I appreciate that this is complex . 30 minutes ago, Doctorsrcrap said: I'm I just doomed to endless suffering then because no one in the medical community is helping me I'm so sorry Doctorscrap. I wish I had the answer. I'm not sure if you have heard of Vidyamala Burch? She is truly lovely. She runs meditation groups for people with chronic pain. She survived a serious accident involving a paragliding crash and she lives with chronic nerve pain. I'll see if I can find a link. Most of her group members have chronic pain conditions so it may lead you to some help. She is English. 2003 Paxil - I can't remember the dose but I think it was 10mg experienced horrendous akathisia when starting for 3 weeks then okay 2004. slow reduction to 0 , withdrawal symptoms, so reinstated to 10mg - again horrendous Akathisia which lasted 5 weeks. 2005 - attempted to slowly taper off and again Terrible withdrawal so reinstated and endured akathisia until it settled. Doctorsrcrap
@Farm24 My gp did a b12 test but it came back OK. However the nhs only run a serum b12 which is inaccurate. Jaffa
@Doctorsrcrapdo you eat red meat? Are you eating a healthy diet?I know these drugs deplete B vitamins but if you are eating well hopefully you are getting good nutrition. Is your digestion ok? I tend to think this pain is all to do with the down regulation of the serotonin receptors. Until those receptors are restored and serotonin function returns to normal , Pain is going to be a feature I reckon. I remember with my recent withdrawal/ sensitisation from Zoloft last May, pain was a real issue. It morphed then into other horrible symptoms but perhaps for you this pain is going to be the main feature of your withdrawal. Do you have any other outstanding withdrawal symptoms? 2003 Paxil - I can't remember the dose but I think it was 10mg experienced horrendous akathisia when starting for 3 weeks then okay 2004. slow reduction to 0 , withdrawal symptoms, so reinstated to 10mg - again horrendous Akathisia which lasted 5 weeks. 2005 - attempted to slowly taper off and again Terrible withdrawal so reinstated and endured akathisia until it settled. Psychiatrist changed me over to Zoloft so that I could have another baby. June 2023- health anxiety and what feels like withdrawal again. Sleep now ok but daily life depression, anhedonia, agitation and a weird feeling of being sedate and anxious at the same time. Currently holding. Doctorsrcrap
I have a part time job. Which I struggle to do. I walk to work which is 45 mins 4 days a week. I am exhausted. I see no end in sight. That's why most people end up on vitamins? It seems that it does according to Alto who mentions b12 and fish oil in a post about preparing for psych drug withdrawal. That said, in my humble opinion, if you are eating well and getting good quality red meat and green veg, nuts and seeds and good fibre then vitamin deficiency shouldn't be too bad. I'm more inclined to think this is nerve pain but you could carefully try some vitamins to see if they help. Tumeric in large doses has some effect on inflammation. Have you tried an anti -inflammatory diet? Have you ever tried a ketogenic diet which is also anti inflammatory? Have a look at the work of Dr Chris Palmer. Just checking - is menopause or peri menopause a possibility. ? On 3/27/2024 at 11:01 PM, Doctorsrcrap said: I am exhausted. I see no end in sight. I'm losing hope. Please please hold on. I'm sure this is excruciating. Have you sought a second opinion ? Does the pain prevent you from sleeping? Im so sorry @Doctorsrcrap. I wish I could be more helpful. June 2023- health anxiety and what feels like withdrawal again. Sleep now ok but daily life depression, anhedonia, agitation and a weird feeling of being sedate and anxious at the same time. Currently holding.
