Thank you for sorting that out. I must of been having a brain fart moment where I posted on the wrong thread by accident. 

I have gone back to 20mg of propranalol and plan to stay there for longer. I thought I was in a place to try but I'm not.

Trying my hardest not to freak out but over the last week I have become increasingly tight chested and breathless. This frightens me.

Please get the tight chest and breathlessness checked out by a doctor if you feel it's more than the run-of-the-mill withdrawal symptoms and / or the upticks in life stressors you're dealing with.

 

Are you experiencing air hunger as a withdrawal symptom? The scientific term for air hunger is dyspnea. You may want to try these breathing techniques to see if they help:

To be honest i dont know what normal withdrawal breathlessness and chest tightness feels like compared to anything else. Who knows at this point

Feeling really disheartened 😔. 

Emotionally the last few months I had felt better than I had in a long time. I was managing to do a bit more and actually enjoy it and now i feel like I've been hurtled backwards. 

I'm starting to feel anxious and panicky again which is probably connected to this constant feeling of breathlessness and crushing feeling. I feel like my tolerance to stress has plummeted to zero and everything just feels too much. 

Is this just a new kind of wave? Will it pass?

At this point, this is something you know will pass because it has before, right? 

 

We really need our long-time members (those with several hundred posts) to uplift our community. The more you can move in that direction, the more you'll be empowered and can float and breathe your way through the waves. 

 

This is when you thank your waves for reminding you to practice your non-drug coping skills because you'll be able to master them by the time you're off the drugs and on your way toward healing. 

 

If you go into a wave at this point in the game, Doctorsrcrap, and all you can post is negativity, then you know you need to up your game with the non-drug coping skills. Instead of what you messaged, why not tell yourself, "I'm in a wave so I need to do this or that coping skill or find a distraction because I know this will pass." 

 

Once you get caught up in a distraction or in learning a new skill, your day is already better, even if you're struggling through it. 

 

It does get better.

On the most part sleep had been improving compared to the very start but at the moment all my old symptoms I thought were starting to resolve are coming back so can't really say

Hi, sorry to hear your having a bad wave. I also have the air hunger feeling. It's like I can't get a full satisfying breath. It's one symptom that really bothers and worries me.

Thanks for reaching out. It means a lot. I get a lot of problems with my throat but the wait lists on the nhs are just ridiculous. 

In regards my breathing I will just assume all is OK, a doctor had a listen to my chest and said all good. I guess that's the best I'm going to get.

How are you doing overall?

I totally understand what you mean about the NHS. I've just received an appointment for an echo and 24hr tape for next month and I was referred September 2022. 

 

I wish I could say I'm well but I have a lot of symptoms mainly physical. It's hard because Dr's don't have a clue and there's just no quick fix. I have windows but they are never symptom free or last long.

I'm 8 months free now. Worse thing for me is I've developed quite severe health anxiety due to all the strange physical sensations. How long are you med free?

I hope you get some relieve soon, I feel the same I think this is a very slow process unfortunately. Always here if you need someone to talk too.

I have a weird throat problem. Feels like I've swallowed a tube of deep heat. This is occompanied by a feeling of agitation.

Breathless

Tight chest

Back pain 

Stress intolerance 

Bouts of insomnia

Tinnitus 

Weird nerve pain in my foot.

Some anxiety.

I have weird throat feeling to almost like I have to make myself swallow if that makes sense and constant sore throats. 

 

Heart flutters

Histamine intolerance

GI issues 

Dizziness(on a boat or drunk feeling)

Anxiety

Cortisol spikes first thing in the morning

Hands and feet numbness

Muscle pains

Eyes(floaters and hard to focus)

Brain fog and head pressure

Weight lose(20kg)

Fatigue and weakness 

Stress intolerance

Internal tremors 

 

Honestly could add more, some have improved and some are just as bad.

I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have to go through this. I promised myself a year and I'm almost there. I had hoped I would be seeing a vast improvement but not yet it would seem.

It's hard and I honestly have so much anger towards my GP and mental health practitioner, first because I went to see them because my meds weren't working as well as they did the previous 9 years so I asked about getting some CBT but they so no we will just swap your meds. 9 years on them and I was taken off them in 2 weeks then switch 4 times in 7 months. I saw them after 2 months off everything and they said no it's not withdrawals it's just your original anxiety.

 

Did you watch the documentary on bbc1 2 weeks ago?

I pretty much had the same experience. On for 5 years weren't working. Switched me around. Something like 7 different meds in a year and then told not withdrawal.

I think it will hopefully make people more aware, I never knew anything about tapering or withdrawals when I came off and clearly neither did my doctor. I just wished they mentioned more about symptoms and long term effects coming off these drugs.

This is madness. I'm trying my hardest to support others on this site and to be positive but at the same time I'm so so sick. I actually feel like my body is shutting down.

Sorry to hear that you are struggling, I'm actually really struggling too. I have so so many symptoms at the moment and it's giving me really bad health anxiety. I think I get windows but never symptom free. I hoped that by now(8 1/2 months CT) I would have periods of feeling normal. What are you really struggling with atm?

I have all those symptoms and more. Yes it is very scary. I've said the same about feeling like my body is packing in. Have you tried doing something to relax? I wish I had some better advice

oh I am sorry you are going thru this

it's so hard

 

please be assured that while it feels like your body is shutting down, it isn't really

 

it does feel so scary when this happens

it's not an uncommon symptom of WD recovery

 

the symptoms are so strange and there are so many and they keep changing

 

very frustrating and scary!!

but they will end, each one in time will fade away or in some cases POOF go away overnight!

some of my worst symptoms did that, I woke up one day after weeks of having something awful going on and that thing was gone

 

one of those symptoms was this feeling like my breathe was being pushed back into my body, like reverse breathing! it is very had to describe but I guess the thing that comes closest is walking into a very strong wind where you are struggling to breathe and the wind is going into your nostrils forcefully and you feel like it's taking your breath away

 

that happened in short episodes for a few weeks and I thought I was losing my mind at the time

but one day, POOF 

it was gone and never ever came back

 

sometimes a whole set of symptoms will go away like that,

other times they decrease gradually and one day you realize, that symptom is gone

 

now of course with some of your current symptoms you might want to wait and see if maybe you have a cold or flu or some sort of infection brewing perhaps...?

 

sometimes it's not just withdrawal. going thru this takes a toll on our bodies so it's understandable that we might get some virus or something that we'd otherwise be able to fight off

Yeah I try to do things to relax daily. I'm really good about everything. Bed time routine, eat clean no sugar no alcohol no caffeine no fast food no ready meals. Eat lots of fruit and veggie. Walk several times a week. Doing everything as I should but nothing seems to help. Very disheartening. Just feel like I'm getting sicker. Maybe that's not true. But if I can't have a pity party on my own thread where can I haha

I try not to winge to much but sometimes I just can't help it. I'm certainly not getting through this gracefully but I am trying. 

No worries about me reaching out to other members, I don't mind. We need to be there for each other. This is hard enough without having to do it alone. 

I just don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. I did think at 1 year I would be further forward but with my med history I guess really that was never going to happen.

Yes definitely sounds like you are doing the right things, I do all those too and it can definitely be disheartening. I see a lot of people seeing big improvements into their second or third years so I'm hoping that soon things will start to improve. Hope you get some relief soon 🙏

sometimes winging is just what we need to do. I think you're doing a fantastic job getting thru this.

I have read a lot of the cold turkey threads and, keeping in mind that I did not actually write down any figures LOL It really seems like most folks who went cold turkey saw a dramatic shift around the 18 mos mark, I want to say. And from my recollection, recovery quickly progressed from there. 

So there's hope for you, is what I mean to say.

ive been up all night. A doctor was supposed to call me yesterday. They didn't. I've got pains in my abdomen, chest and back like trapped wind feeling. My abdomen feels like I've been kicked by a horse. I keep coughing cos of aggrevated throat.

Doctor has already said they won't run any tests to check everythings OK, they said just take ompremazole. Naturally I told them where they can stick their drugs. I've told them before I'm not taking anything unless you can prove whats wrong first jncase it's all withdrawal. I'm so fed up with it

I am stuck and I don't know what to do. People say that you should get things checked out by a doctor and if results all come back OK then you know it's just withdrawal. But what do you do when your doctor refuses to run any testing. And I dint mean one doctor but the whole surgery.

 

Symptoms are

Chest pain

Back pain 

Breathless 

Restless

Numb feeling in the throat 

Tinnitus

 

 

These are to name a few. 

 

I've told my doctor and they have briefly listened to my chest and said heart sounds ok but refused to do any further testing. They refuse point blank to send me anywhere to rule out GERD or anything else unless I take a PPI which I won't do. I've told them my blood pressure is on the lower side of normal but they don't bother checking it. All they have said is its my problem if I won't take medication and I will have to suffer but they doubt it will kill me. 

 

So do I just assume that all this is withdrawal related and just wait and hope nothing else is going on? 

 

What about the propranalol? Could any of this be due to taking that? Holding thr dose hasnt stopped the symptoms. If anything the chest pains etc have got worse since holding. Or will things get even worse if I try to do a slow taper off the rest. I really don't know what to do anymore. 

 

Can anyone help me unmuddle this mess. I'm at the end of my tether.
