It's ok. I dont feel welcome here any more. I just feel like i dont matter and what im experiencing isnt legit. I will go suffer on my own. I thought I had found some where that might understand me but clearly I was wrong

@Doctorsrcrap if you want to stay on propranolol for anxiety, stop tapering and stay on it. There is no ideal lowest effective dose for you. You'll have to decide for yourself.

 

If you're not tapering and you don't have withdrawal syndrome, what are you looking for from peer support here? We cannot offer you general medicine advice.

@AltostrataI honestly dont know how you arent understanding what im saying. I DO NOT WANT TO BE on propranalol. I WANT to come off. Hence the tapering. I'm NOT asking what therapeutic dose I should be taking. I'm asking what the SAFEST lowest dose to STOP COMPLETELY.

I'm going to speed up my taper and hope for the best. I honestly can't tell you if im having problems from the reductions as I feel crap anyway. 

For some reason though you don't think i have withdrawal so I'm pretty much officially confused. 

Just because someone hasnt reported a symptom before doesnt mean it isn't withdrawal related. I thought the idea of this site was so people's experiences are put together so we can learn. Well then maybe throat problems are from withdrawal and you just dont know it. 

I dont know. 

If it's not from withdrawal and there's nothing else wrong with me well then i must just be off my rocker completely and imaging things

For 11 pages, I have been asking you to provide more detail about these symptoms specifically to see if they are withdrawal symptoms.

 

The information you have provided so far is insufficient to identify any of your symptoms as withdrawal symptoms.

So I guess I'll have to ask you once again, what about this "crap" do you attribute to a propranolol reduction? This would be a symptom that INCREASES shortly after a dosage reduction.

 

As explained before, tapering propranolol depends on avoiding a blood pressure spike. A dosage reduction would not cause akathisia or other movement disorder or your throat symptoms.

 

The half-life of immediate-release propranolol is only 3-6 hours, so you'd feel any effects of a dosage reduction fairly quickly. 

 

Please provide more information about your symptom pattern after a reduction.

I dont think i have withdrawal problems from propranalol. 

I think i have adverse effects and withdrawal from my antidepressant history.

If you don't feel any effects from your propranolol reduction, you can go faster. What times o'clock do you currently take your drugs, with their dosages?

 

Please describe the symptoms you attribute to withdrawal from venlafaxine.

That's all I've been meaning. How do i get off it in the quickest but safest manner. I've drawn myself up a new plan so I will be off it quicker than I originally planned. 

 

I think i was in withdrawal before i quit venlafaxine probably when I quit sertraline and then just made things worse and worse with every subsequent new drug.

Symptoms like insomnia. The buzzing in my head which sometimes feels like my head night actually explode. The emotional turmoil inside with restlessness. Intrusive thoughts. Irritability. And of course my throat feeling which seems to affect my tongue aswell. Oh and the inability to cry.

What effect does propranolol have on these symptoms? Are they reduced after you take a dose of propranolol?

I take one dose at around 10am and one at around 10.30pm. I literally see no difference in my symptoms before or after I take it. 

 

It's hard to say how the last 3 months have gone considering I had covid and e coli

Exactly. I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly. 

 

When exactly did you have covid and e coli? What symptoms are new since you had covid and e coli?

@AltostrataI'm not sure how long I actually had e coli for. For a few months I had noticed a strong smell to my urine etc but couldn't get s doc appointment and also thought it might have just been change in my diet causing it. I think i probably had it for about 2 or 3 months before getting the antibiotics to clear it up. 

I had covid in December. 

 

I dont normally feel any different between 3 and 6 than I do the rest of the day. 

 

I made a bigger reduction on Saturday to start to speed up the process and I am definatly feeling the drop.

December being only 2 months ago, you might still have aftereffects of covid not related to withdrawal such as the throat symptoms. You might also have aftereffects of antibiotics.

 

Most likely, tapering propranolol did not cause these symptoms.

Like I've said before I'm not blaming the propranalol for those symptoms. The only thing the reduction of propranalol has done has made me more jittery and more erratic heart. 

The throat symptom is definatly linked to my past use of anti depressants. There's not much doubt in mind about that.

If this is bothersome, perhaps you might stop tapering propranolol for the time being.

 

We can't do anything about the leftover symptoms from protracted antidepressant withdrawal. It may make sense for you to make sure the throat symptoms aren't something else that might be treated.

I have now got my doctor to refer me to ear nose and throat but I'm sure the wait list will be massive. 

I will just have to play the propranalol taper by ear and see what's happens

8 month update 

I missed my 8 month update which was 9 days ago. 

Symptoms I'm still having:

Ringing and buzzing in head

Restlessness 

Agitation

My weird throat thing is still here apart from it seems to be moving to mainly effect my tongue and back if my throat. It's a hard one to explain. It feels horrible makes me uncomfortable and there's just a feeling of inner turmoil that goes along with it. 

I know I've probably set back my progress because this last week has been horrible as my husband was taken into hospital after collapsing and our pet rat died so I've been stressed. 

I managed to get down to 20mg of propranalol but have held there for a bit because of all the stress.

Because I want off of it. My husband came home from the hospital and I thought let's try and get down a little further. 

My plan is to get off that and supplement with magnesium instead for a while but I dont want to be using both. 

At the end of the day I just want off of all prescribed drugs.  I want to be done with it.

Hello @Doctorsrcrap, I have the the throat and tongue sensations, for me it feels as though somebody has poured pepper down my mouth and on my tongue.  I have had pins and needles in my lips from the very beginning of my withdrawal and this sometimes extends to my throat, tongue and gums.  It has been the most constant symptom (alongside the terror and anxiety) and when I am in a rare window I still have it and therefore know I am still in withdrawal.  I just wanted you to know you are not alone, I do not know if that sounds familiar as I find all the symptoms very difficult to explain.  Keep going I know how incredibly hard it is.

9 months antidepressant free 

Propranalol: 14mg 

 

Symptoms; 

. Agitation 

. Restless 

. Chest pain 

. Nerve and muscle pain in throat jaw teeth and face 

. Fatigue 

. Nausea 

. Broken sleep 

. Ringing in ears 

 

Will be glad to be off the propranalol as it will be one less thing to bother with 

 

Things I do to help myself:

. Green smoothies 

. Healthy eating 

. Walking 

. Epsom salt baths

 

When I was on the meds I put on about 1.5st. Through healthy eating and exercise i have managed to lose a stone. 

 

I'm concerned thst I dont get windows and waves. I know not everybody does and I might just be someone thst gradually improves but it's very sad not to see any progress. 

Anyway thats it for now.

I generally feel crap all the time but I seem to get a wave every couple of months whwre I end up with horrible chest and back pain with nausea. I have no idea why this happens but it's horrific
