 Oh ,dear God, I didn't mean anything negative by my comment  to Osk. I just meant , keep it simple , have a bath , put in some mag  ( epsom salts) , not too much :  in moderation .  Enjoy !   :)       We are saying the same thing .  I was just saying KIS . 

Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014

I can't find magnesium that's not combined with B vitamins but I desperately need some relief so I was thinking to try a small dose even with B vitamins in it . I just wanna know what to expect ? Do most people in WD get a bad reaction from B vitamins ? And I know this is silly but how can I know if I had a negative reaction to them ? What are the symptoms ? 

On and off prozac from 2010 -2014 .

Several failed fast tapers and reinstatements .

Cold turkey : March  2014 .

Hi a99--  Not everyone gets a bad reaction to B vitamins, some people they actually help.  The one that tends to cause the most trouble is B12. All B vitamins are stimulants so a negative reaction would be some form of over simulation, starting with mild general restlessness and working up to major anxiety and panic.  Usually it's an "I can't sit still" general nervousness with mild anxiety.  If your body happens to be low on B vitamins when you start taking it, it could take a few weeks for anything to shows up.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Ive been taking Magnesium now for about 3 weeks  - I have also become more lethargic and tire easy from exercise, plus have VERY infrequent shooting pains in my lower, left abdomen that last for less than a second. I updosed about 12-13 weeks ago so its hard to know whether the Mag is making me tired or the updose. My Anxiety has certainly settled alot over the last few weeks, maybe even before taking the Mag. I know that Magnesium is used to help people sleep - Whether in WD or not, so would it make sense that this is whats making me so tired?

Started Citalopram in 2005 (aged 15) for apparent "OCD" - 60mg 

July 2015 attempted 2 x 10% + cuts 4 weeks apart. WD symptoms intense at times. Need to slow down.

 

November 2016 - Resumed taper. 1.25 - 1.5% decrease weekly approx.

44.5mg November 2016. Jan 2017 42.5 mg. March 2017 40 mg. June 2017 37mg. September 2018 22mg. Nov 2018 Holding at 22mg to stabilise from moderate wave. January 2020 - Holding, mostly feeling fine, but still having some waves at times. 

 

February 2020 - Resumed taper , 1.5% reduction weekly/every two weeks.

If your tiredness began soon after you started taking magnesium, then its most likely being caused by that. If its bothering you, you may want to decrease the amount you are taking. Its good to hear you are feeling better. Being able to relax and sleep well helps with recovery. It sounds like your updose has helped too.

Usually, the type of magnesium in a multivitamin is not very absorbable. Plus, if you have a bad reaction, you won't know which ingredient in the multivitamin is causing it.

 

Taking magnesium separately allows you to choose the best type for you, tailor the dosage, spread out dosing (which is the best way to take magnesium, in smaller doses throughout the day or evening), and identify the effects, beneficial or not.

Walgreens sells Mag Citrate. I buy mine from Walgreens. I found a liquid version at CVS but I like the softgels from Walgreens better.

 

Vitimin World also has some different types of mag.

Prozac 1999-2009 quit semi cold turkey.

 

2012 Placed on Seroquel 25 mg, Tranxene (Clorezepate) 3.75 mg 3x a day, Remeron 30 mg for anxiety/akathesia.

 

Weaned off Seroquel and Tranxene .to Remeron 15 Mg.

In May 2014 tried quitting Remeron at its lowest dose. Had severe withdrawals.Reinstated Remeron at 30 mg by doctor. August 5 2014 entered hospital. Doctor pulled the Remeron and bridged it to Pamelor (Nortriptyline) 40mg and Zyprexa 2.5mg.After removing the Remeron all my bad symptoms went away and I am stable.

 

9/11/14 - 7.5 mg tranxene, 40mg Pamelor, Zyprexa 2.5mg

12/29/14 -  20mg Pamelor, 1/6/15,  7/31/15 3.5mg, 8/10/15 3.2 mg, 9/15/15 2.2mg, 10/15/15 1.8mg

(Feb 2016 - 1.4mg Pamelor only -  OFF OF TRANXENE AND ZYPREXA SINCE DEC 2014 BENZO FREE Since 2014. Nortrityline (Pamelor) .8mg Aug 2016

Epsom salts are magnesium sulphate.   Magnesium oil is made from magnesium chloride flakes

 

You can make your own magnesium oil by mixing the flakes (available online) with distilled water. There is no oil 

involved , it just has an oily feel.

Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Care taken over by Dr Lucire in March 2013 , decreased last 30mg at 2mg per week over 3 months. July 21 , 2013- last dose of Cymbalta

Protracted withdrawal syndrome kicked in badly Jan.2014 Unrelenting akathisia until May 2014. Voluntary hosp. admission. Cocktail of Seroquel, Ativan and mirtazapine and I was well enough to go home after 14 days. Stopped all hosp. meds in next few months.

July 2014 felt v.depressed - couldn't stop crying. Started pristiq 50mg. Felt improvement within days and continued to improve, so stayed on 50mg for 8 months.

Began taper 28 Feb. 2015. Pristiq 50mg down to 45mg. Had one month of w/d symptoms. Started CES therapy in March. No w/d symptoms down to 30mg.

October 2015 , taking 25mg Pristiq. Capsules compounded with slow-release additive.

March 2016 , 21mg

Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

There are a lot of options.  I checked my notes, and here's what I learned when I was trying to figure it all out when I started tapering:

 

Magnesium citrate is gentle, better for bowels, and you can sip it through the day dissolved in ice-water (for relaxing). 

Magnesium glycinate is gentler still.

Epsom salts dissolved in the bath is the gentlest form of all. 

 

Personally, I decided to take magnesium citrate, and I find it quite good. 

 

You will want to start at a very low dose to avoid diarrhea - perhaps 25mg.  Then slowly work your way up. 

2010  Fluoxetine 20mg.  2011  Escitalopram 20mg.  2013 Tapered badly and destabilised CNS.  Effexor 150mg. 

2015 Begin using info at SurvivingAntidepressants.  Cut 10% - bad w/d 2 months, held 1 month. 

Micro-tapering: four weekly 0.4% cuts, hold 4 weeks (struggling with symptoms).

8 month hold.

2017 Micro-tapering: four weekly 1% cuts, hold 4 weeks (symptoms almost non-existent).

2020 Still micro-tapering. Just over 2/3 of the way off effexor. Minimal symptoms, - and sleeping well.
Supplements: Fish oil, vitamin C, iron, oat-straw tea, nettle tea.

2023 December - Now on 5 micro-beads Effexor. Minimal symptoms but much more time needed between drops. Symptoms begin to increase.

2024 April - Updosed to 6 microbeads - immediate increase in symptoms for 4 days. Decreased to 5 microbeads.

Thanks everyone.  Magnesium is one of my faves, I use it to stay regular.  Of course there are certain risks--one has to be cautions to avoid spotting.  My medium is Phillips mild of magnesia which is magnesium hydroxide, about 130 mg elemental magnesium per teaspoon.  That way I know quantitatively what my magnesium load is.  The dosage limit is highly idiosyncratic--it happens that mine is relatively high.

After 25 yrs w/attivan, my shrink said you gotta ease off that stuff, it will fry your brain - plus the govt is giving me a bad time.  So off we go, moving from 2 tabs to <1, when the bottom fell out.  Since then it has been a slow laborious slog, and not until I found this site did I find it possible to minimize dose & the misery.  In the middle of all that my neurologist put me on 100mg lamotrigine which kept me awake, and off we go on it.  Both docs say then have not seen anything like my case in their practise.  Yet they are supportive which is thankful.  As of 21 May 2016 amcurrently down to 1.75mg diazepam (switched from attivan) and 18.75mg lamotrigine.

I find Magnesium Glycinate to be most relaxing. Not too sedating, and easy on the bowels in comparison to citrate. 

Medically, citrate is typically for bowels, constipation specifically, oxide is for migraine, anxiety and sometimes for bowels, whereas glycinate is ideal for anxiety and attention issues.

WITHDRAWAL REGIMEN/STORY

Originally for OCD, the luvox took about 6 months to taper off.

Withdrawal supplements; lemon balm, Vitamin B3, black water/fulvic acid, high-protein diet to restore neurotransmitters, aniracetam to counter memory issues, deprenyl for persisting anhedonia.

Regimen still maintained til this day. Lemon balm, generally as capsules, however, as I suffer chronic Insomnia, I often use essential oil or as aromatherapy before bed , in combination with magnesium and lysine on bad nights.

Hi, has anyone used Magnesium Citrate? and have you had problems with swelling or edema?

In 2001 - started on Carbamezapine (can't remember dose), Fluoexitine 20mg, Clanozepam (low dose) after a nervous breakdown.

In 2004 - abruptly stopped carbamezapine after falling pregnant.  

In 2009 - changed from Fluoexitine to Citalopram 20mg.

In 2014 - tappered off clanozepam.

In Aug 2015 - cold turkey off Citalopram :o

From Aug - Dec 2015 I had mostly flu-like symptoms and trouble sleeping. From Jan - April 2016 Emotional nightmare ensued, paranoia, excessive anxiety and tormenting thoughts, basically trying to manage these emotions and thoughts which are exhausting.  Lots of intense emotions followed by tears, at times howling when Im alone.In March 2016 I tried Choline & Inisitol, Vit B Complex, Using Aromatherapy, like Lavendar, Clary Sage and others.

In April STOPPED Choline & Inositol as I beleive it was giving me shakes and making me more anxious.  It also made me feel like i'd taken a benzo tablet making me feel sedated.  Reading - The Body Keeps Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk (recommended by a member on this group).

Symptoms - extreme low self esteem and insecurity, intense emotions and tearfulness. This is so so hard.  But im going to keep pushing.  Feel bad for my 2 girls and husband.  I don't want to be seen in this way, especially by the girls. Self-help : praying, meditating, breathing exercises and physical exercises.

Ceterizine (antihistamine) - I've been taking this for many years now for itchiness in my palms and feet.  I take them as and when I need them. JULY 2016 Dr Bach homeopathic remedies and 'rescue remedy'

Once I read your question I thought maybe I was... swelling from mag citrate I have been taking it for a long time and been swollen for a long time... I kind of just accept it like everything else I live with.. since reading I looked it up and some other people do swell from it.. see this

I wonder how magnesium affects kidneys?

 

I have had some pain in a lower back, maybe sciatica or kidney...Bit worried about this. It is sometimes associated with urine decrease...

I was on Lexapro 10mg, once a day for about 8 yrs combined with Abilify 2mg, once per day and Klonopin ,25-.50mg up to 4 times a day. Prior to that multiple trials of various SSRIs and low doses of unsuccessful various mood stabilizers in anticonvulsant category with the same dose of Klonopin for a total of over 16 yrs.[/font][/size]Withdrawal from Abilify around Aug. 2015 and slow taper of Lexapro began late Jan. 2016. As of January 2017 I am 11 months full withdrawal from Lexapro and was .25mg of Klonopin at night.(went to .25 klonopin at night only somewhere in October)<p>**Update with my Klonopin taper. I was on .25mg at night and .25mg in AM with varying doses of .125mg during day, maybe once or twice on as needed basis. Starting in early September 2016 reduction of .125mg day dose was decreased to only .25mg AM. Over 2-3 weeks was down to .125mg AM for about 3-4 weeks. As of sometime in October down to only .25mg at night. As of 1/7/17 I am updosed to an additional .25mg at night, for a total of .5mg. As of June 23, 2017 I am on a liquid tapered dose of klonopin. Current dose 4.1ml as of February 21, 2018**

herewego,  Is the magnesium bisglycinate a tablet/capsule? Is it a powder you dissolve in liquid?

 

Some people find it easier on their systems to dissolve the tablet (or capsule contents) in water and sip that over a few hours.

Has anyone experienced a complete reduction in anxiety but then felt depressed from taking magnesium?

 

I stopped taking one of my magnesium supplements because it was combined with calcium. I replaced it with Natural Calm Citrate in water which I drink throughout the day and mostly away from any calcium. I haven't increased it to the amount of magnesium that was in the Magnesium Malate I was taking yet but it is really knocking out the anxiety at the lower dose. It is also making me really tired/sleepy. 

Buspirone to 45mg, Cold Turkey St. John's Wort 600mg Jan 1, 2016. Cold Turkey Buproprion 150SR June 1 due to severe Akathisia that did not decrease with reducing the dosage.

Clonazepam 1.25mg, started daily liquid micro taper of clonazepam on Nov 1, 2016. Changed to sxs based taper 01/17. Slow and steady

11/10/16 .4104 3X day; 11/17/16 .4091 3x day; 11/28/16 .406 3x day; 12/4/16 .404 3x day; 12/11/16 .4028 3x

Has anyone else tried Morley Robbins Magnesium protocol? He has a facebook group with 60K followers. Many people report they feel better on the protocol. Basically, they take lots of Mag and its co-factors to facilitate absorption: boron, bee pollen (for B vitamins), Mag water (Mag bicarbonate).

 

So far, when I tried Boron and Mag Glycinate, I reacted to both. And II did try increasing very gradually. I was not 100% stable from withdrawal so I attributed it to that.

 

Waited several months and tried Mag glycinate (120mg increased to 240mg after 2 weeks). Boron 3mg increased to 6mg after a month. The last 2 months after starting all this I'm doing worse. Worse fatigue, worse anhedonia, increased appetite/cravings. All new symptoms which I did not have for the last 5 months. I had been holding dose for 4 months and was 100% stable until all this started.

 

Anyone else had these types of reactions to Magnesium or its co-factors (Boron)?

  • SSRIs 3-4 times in the last 14 years; would take them for 6-8 months and then taper off under dr supervision with no problems.

  • End of August: withdrawal: depressive symptoms, crying spells. Realized I was measuring prozac dose wrong for the last 2 months. Reinstated Prozac 8.5mg; Kept effexor at 17 beads. Stabilized in 5 weeks.
  • 10/2015: Prozac: 8.5mg; effexor: 17 beads11/2015: Prozac: 1.9ml (7.5mg); effexor: 16 beads12/2015: Prozac: 1.6ml; effexor xr: 16 beads. Withdrawal: neuroemotions
  • 01/2016: prozac: 1.6ml; effexor xr: reinstated 17 beads, withdrawal improved; 02/2016: Prozac 1.5ml; Effexor: 17 beads; 03/2016: Prozac 1.3ml(5mg); Effexor: 17 beads (7mg)-withdrawal (flu-like malaise, lightheaded, drowsy) started end of March. April 15: reinstated Prozac 1.5ml. Stabilized. 2 weeks ok. End of April: Withdrawal (neuroemotions). Eventually stabilized in April-May. Apathy improved.
  • 3 month hold until August. August 2016: apathy came back;

  • October 2016: updosed to Prozac 1.6ml. Bad reaction: anxiety, depression. End of October: went down Prozac 1.5ml. Stabilized over several weeks.

  • Dec 9: tried macca for energy: anxiety/depression. Improved over several weeks, but not completely resolved.

  • Dec 31: cut Effexor 5% to 16 beads. After 9 days: withdrawal anxiety, depression; tried updosing to 17 beads Feb 7 but anxiety got worse; went down to 16 beads

    May 2017: Anxiety improved; severe depression continuesSeptember 2017: finally stabilized!!!!!! 09/07/2017-12/31/2017: hold

  • Stable on Effexor 6mg and Prozac 6mg until around 2019-2020. Side effects (fatigue, anhedonia) continued, but had some long lasting windows thanks to therapy. Windows lasting 5-6 months each year followed by relapses.

  • 2019: bad reaction to melatonin 3 mg. Withdrawal after taking it 2 months. When I tried to stop it developed severe insomnia that lasted 6 months even after I reinstated melatonin. Only slept again because I took hydroxyzine 5 mg 3 times a week for few months. Stopped hydroxyzine with no issues. Sleep normalized.

  • 2020-2021: Holding on Prozac 6mg, Effexor 6mg, Tapered melatonin 1 drop every 2-4 weeks down to 1.5mg. Had to hold because further cuts were causing severe drowsiness. 

  • 2021: Insomnia returned due to caffeine use for few months (only started after months of use). I also had a concussion at this time.

  • 2023: took hydroxyzine 5-100mg for one month (kept increasing dose every 3 days because I developed tolerance). Tapered for 1 week. After 1 month: withdrawal neuroemotions. Reinstated 5mg 2 months after stopping. Gradually increased to 25mg, stabilized, but withdrawal came back after 10 days. Kept increasing dose and withdrawal returning. Currently at 40mg. Not sure how to stabilize.

It's less likely that mag glycinate is causing your symptoms, if you didn't have problems with it before.

 

I was reading about how glycine works in the brain, and it does affect Serotonin. I did react to Mag glycinate before, but I thought it was due to me being in withdrawal.

 

This time I was having menstrual cramps all month from the time I started Mag glycinate, but I didn't think it could be that. The other symptoms started on the second month. I will stop it and see if it helps.

 

I'm thinking of steering away from supplements until I'm stable for a longer time and at lower doses.

Yuk - two steps forward, one step back.

 

I am having indigestion in the evenings and wonder if it could be due to magnesium citrate (300mg) I am now taking.  They are 150mg/tablet so I could reduce it to one of them.

 

I am also taking 8mg omeprazole which mostly keeps gastric trouble under control.

 

Any views, please?

 

There's a thread in this forum about the dangers of acid reducers. I don't think they're meant to be used long term.

 

Some nutritionists/naturopaths believe citrates are not the best form. They decrease an enzyme called  Ceruloplasmin that is important to many body functions. I don't know if they are right, but it's worth seeing if you do better with Mag Malate or Mag Glycinate or Mag Threonate, which are more recommended.

I bought magnesium glycinate tablet on amazon. Took 25 mg one night and felt relaxed and a bit sleepy but not completely. So I thought why not try 75 mg. Felt relaxed somewhat but also feeling a bit blunted and not as sleepy as 25 mg. Weird. Guess 25 mg is probably the best for me.

Zoloft  2004. Effexor 2004-2006. Paxil 20 mg for 2006-2010. Ct 2010, bad effects back on, stable by 2011.  Poopout June 2015. Zoloft with paxil for a while, stopped Zoloft.

Sep 2016 paxil 16.2 mg alone(295 mg pill weight). Started tapering 11/14/2016.

Took off 1 mg pill weight(total pill weight of 20 mg = 365 mg and 16 mg is 295 mg). Went down 1 mg per week of pill weight so down to 291 mg by end of November. Starting getting anxiety issues starting since 12/10/2016. Hoping that a faster taper will help.

12/14/2016 - 15.95 mg (291 mg pill weight)

12/16/2016 -  15.83 mg (289 mg pill weight)

12/23/2016 -  15.67 (286 mg pill weight)

I bought this one 100 mg 60 pills for $25 with free prime delivery. I took 25 and 75 without any GI effects but the 75 mg made me a big anxious and blunted and weird. The 25 mg was ok. It is very easy to cut the tablet into 1/4th or less. 25 made me sleepy and relaxed. I think this might be the best dose for me.

I was just reading an article about magnesium and they suggested magnesium malate as a good source that won't cause gastric upset. I don't remember the article or I would post the link.

Hi, I am unsure my magnesium product. I usede to take magnesium glycinate (Swanson Ultra Albion Chelated Magnesium Glycinate), I was really good on it, but there is a shortage of this product.

 

I bought a different one, which is powdered magnesium glycinate chelated with amino acids, l-glycine and l-lysine. I have found that my stomach was upset with it. I am unsure if this change in magnesium may have caused it? Chessie & ikam:  Chelation is a process used to trick the body into treating a mineral like a food by bonding the mineral with an amino acid such as L-glycine. When minerals aren't chelated, our body sees them as the "rocks" they are and is more likely to excrete them unused. A chelated mineral is more likely to be absorbed because our body sees it and treats is as food.  Foods are far better absorbed than rocks.

 

All magnesium glycinate products are magnesium chelated with L-glycine. I've never seen a magnesium lysinate product before, but that doesn't mean anything. Lysine is an essential amino acid, meaning we can't make it on our own so we have to get it from food.

I have mild to moderate dysphoria with magnesium glycinate probably due to the glycine. I will try Epsom salt baths, mag chloride salt baths and the mag chloride oil.

 

If you're unstable, be careful with mag oil. It gave me worse withdrawal when I was unstable.

 

I thought it was "milder" because it was transdermal. Big mistake. I found out later that is very "detoxing", which can increase withdrawal.

 

I would start with just a few sprays and build up dose gradually, just like you would with oral Mag.

  • October 2016: updosed to Prozac 1.6ml. Bad reaction: anxiety, depression. End of October: went down Prozac 1.5ml. Stabilized over several weeks.

  • Dec 9: tried macca for energy: anxiety/depression. Improved over several weeks, but not completely resolved.

  • Dec 31: cut Effexor 5% to 16 beads. After 9 days: withdrawal anxiety, depression; tried updosing to 17 beads Feb 7 but anxiety got worse; went down to 16 beads

    May 2017: Anxiety improved; severe depression continuesSeptember 2017: finally stabilized!!!!!! 09/07/2017-12/31/2017: hold

  • Stable on Effexor 6mg and Prozac 6mg until around 2019-2020. Side effects (fatigue, anhedonia) continued, but had some long lasting windows thanks to therapy. Windows lasting 5-6 months each year followed by relapses.

  • 2019: bad reaction to melatonin 3 mg. Withdrawal after taking it 2 months. When I tried to stop it developed severe insomnia that lasted 6 months even after I reinstated melatonin. Only slept again because I took hydroxyzine 5 mg 3 times a week for few months. Stopped hydroxyzine with no issues. Sleep normalized.

  • 2020-2021: Holding on Prozac 6mg, Effexor 6mg, Tapered melatonin 1 drop every 2-4 weeks down to 1.5mg. Had to hold because further cuts were causing severe drowsiness. 

  • 2021: Insomnia returned due to caffeine use for few months (only started after months of use). I also had a concussion at this time.

  • 2023: took hydroxyzine 5-100mg for one month (kept increasing dose every 3 days because I developed tolerance). Tapered for 1 week. After 1 month: withdrawal neuroemotions. Reinstated 5mg 2 months after stopping. Gradually increased to 25mg, stabilized, but withdrawal came back after 10 days. Kept increasing dose and withdrawal returning. Currently at 40mg. Not sure how to stabilize.

I ran out of magnesium citrate... I had been grinding it up in a coffee grinder a 30mg tablet and sticking my tongue in when I felt the need chasing it with water I know I am a slob but these are the times I live in so be it. 

 

Historically I could not tolerate a whole pill of mag so I did what was suggested and added some ground put bits to water and sipped till I felt better... wait between sips and can take some time you don't want too much. 

 

The tongue thing worked for me for a couple of years and every night I would use it if I missed it during the day I would always need it at night often getting up out of bed to take it.. tongue dip.. drink of water bed sleep. 

 

Then I ran out this summer and tried a few other kinds ...  FOR ME BIG MISTAKE...  I also started with a movement disorder this summer not sure of the connection if this is one of course nobody would ever say if there was... I am a lab rat and I know it. 

 

So for a the last few months I have been dealing with the movement disorder to varying degrees at different times trying to sort what helps it and what makes it worse... rest helps baths with epson salt or even without helps.... baths help... but I can't live in the tub and bathing felt dangerous .. I did it anyway. 

 

A couple days ago after a wk in bed I went shopping for mag citrate I stopped all other sorts of mag I tried... the stores I normally shop in were out of citrate... a few days ago they had it... I bought 200mg tab still grinding it... glad to have it back and will never again trade out citrate for any other type of mag.... 

 

I have used it for a few days and I think it is helping the movement disorder and a few other things that were getting out of control... now I take cq10 and mag citrate that is all... 

 

if you find your too sensitive for epson salt baths soak your feet and all mags will not react the same... believe me I learned the hard way.

Yep. There is no doubt in my mind that all kinds of Mag don't produce the same results. Not just in people in withdrawal. I'm part of a facebook group for Mag and people always post that they react better to one Mag vs another.

 

If I ever try Mag again, it will be Malate.

 

I know many people like Citrate, but some naturopaths say it's poorly absorbed and decreases Ceruloplasmin, a key enzyme to many body functions. This happens with every citrate, not just mag citrate.

Since a different magnesium I have had strange symptoms, mostly headache. Or it may be WD...I will stop magnesium and see...

- 12.03.2021- doxepin- 50mg

- May 2020, omeprazole 40mg switched to esomeprazole 20mg

- 2012 re-started Doxepin 75mg, evening. Increased to 150mg

- 2016, Low dose of HRT in evening, Sandrena and Utrogestan 

- Long term of Nasal spray Otrivine

- 2012, PPI Omeprazole 40mg-evening

24.10.2014- Started ESCITALOPRAM-first 5mg and then 10mg; due to the adverse symptoms reduced on 5.01.2015- Escitalopram- 2.5mg 22.07.2016- re-started reduction by 1% at a time. Completed tappering on  19.03.2020 😇

I get rebound headaches from the Mag too, but they go away. Not like withdrawal headaches from lowering the dose too much which persist forever until you go up on the dose. I will try making my own magnesium oil. The ones they sell are 1:1 ratio with water. I will try diluting mine with like 4 cups of water to 1/2 cup of flakes of magnesium chloride so like an 8:1. I think a 1-2 sprays of this should be ok. I never take more than 5 mg of magnesium glycinate and still get dysphoria.

Zoloft  2004. Effexor 2004-2006. Paxil 20 mg for 2006-2010. Ct 2010, bad effects back on, stable by 2011.  Poopout June 2015. Zoloft with paxil for a while, stopped Zoloft.

Sep 2016 paxil 16.2 mg alone(295 mg pill weight). Started tapering 11/14/2016.

Took off 1 mg pill weight(total pill weight of 20 mg = 365 mg and 16 mg is 295 mg). Went down 1 mg per week of pill weight so down to 291 mg by end of November. Starting getting anxiety issues starting since 12/10/2016. Hoping that a faster taper will help.

12/14/2016 - 15.95 mg (291 mg pill weight)

12/16/2016 -  15.83 mg (289 mg pill weight)

12/23/2016 -  15.67 (286 mg pill weight)

8/12/2017 -  15.34 (280 mg pill weight)
