I guess if you are trying to get at if I feel any differnt after taking the celexa the answer is no. I am not having any imidiate adverse reaction to the celexa. I am always better from mid morning until about 5pm and usually bad from 5pm until about 8 or 9pm.

I am just wondering if a small gradual increase on the Celexa to maybe 2mg might help but I don't know. I will monitor my symtoms pretty close for the next few days and let you know.

April 2013 Doc put me back on 40mg of celexa for 2.5 weeks than switched to Paxil 3 weeks adverse reaction and kindling reaction
July 2013 5mg celexa and .5mg klonopin daily

5/15/16 started lamictal and currently at 25mg daily once a day.

1/1/17 crossed over from .5mg klonopin to 10mg Valium.

3/1/17 off celexa from getting down to around .25mg.

5/25/17 started tapering the Valium from 10mg to 9mg

6/25/17 dropped down to 8mg Valium

currently on 8mg of Valium and 25mg of lamictal once a day in the morning never could handle more than 25mg of lamictal and never really felt anything from it.

7/2/17 updosed to 10mg Valium and holding split twice a day and holding.

3/1/18 dropped Valium from 10mg to 9.5mg

4/1/18 dropped Valium from 9.5 to 9mg still on 25mg lamictal.

Updosed 6/20/18 Valium 10mg and 25mg lamictal and holding.

I have however been a tiny bit more stable the last 2 days even my wife and mother have noticed it.

I am thiking that maybe updosing the celexa might be a good idea. But I don't really know of I want to or if it will even help.

Is pushing myself to do things like hang out with people like be around loud cars, etc bad in withdrawl for my cns. I am a big car and motorcycle guy and recently have been pushing myself into some fun even though I feel terrible at times. I have also been walking around the lake some and trying to get out in sun.

I also try to work most days of the week around loud machinery but I wear ear plugs as much as I can I just feel sometimes it might be hindering my recovery. But if I sit at home and think about how bad I am I think it's even worse.

This is all so hard because I just feel like I am looking at my life and myself from the outside wishing I could go back to pre meds but even than I always had to have a way out incase I panicked or got anxiety so bad I would just have to leave.

Do not expose yourself to any more light, sound, vibration, motion stimulation than you need to. This triggers reactions from your nervous system and can worse your symptoms. You might make it a practice to wear dark glasses to reduce light stimulation.

Also, do not drink alcohol at all.

I need to know your symptom pattern relative to when you take your drugs. Please make it a practice to repeat your drug schedule every time we talk about your symptom pattern, to save me the work of combing through 10 pages of this topic. Also, please update your signature.

What time of day do you take Celexa? What drugs do you take between 4pm and bedtime? What time do you go to bed?

Do you take any drugs near mealtimes? When and how much?

Do you get any symptoms after you take the benzo? Please record your symptom pattern for each day like this:

6 a.m. Woke and vomited

8 a.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro

10 a.m. Had diarrhea

10:30 a.m. Ate breakfast

11:35 a.m. Got a headache, lasted one hour

12:35 p.m. Ate lunch

4 p.m. Stomachache

5 p.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro

6 p.m. Ate dinner

9:20 p.m. Headache

10:00 p.m. Took 50mg Seroquel

10:20 p.m. Headache got worse

10:30 p.m. Fell asleep

2:30 a.m. Woke, took 3mg Ambien

2:45 a.m. Fell asleep

4:30 a.m. Woke with headache

It feels like mental torture, like the worst anxiety agitation anyone could ever imagine, terror/fear, hard time sitting still, cant concentrate, out of body, like I have electricity running through me, internal tickle, burning in brain, nose head tension, feeling like running out of the building, like I am loosing my mind.

I just feel like I cant keep going on like this doing the same thing over and over is the definition of insanity which is what I have been doing for years. I feel I need to change something but I cant and I feel like I cant ever recover unless I do. I feel better at times but the lows are as bad as ever just really depressed tonight.

Tommy, I appreciate your feedback but I was on celexa for alot of years prior and I was in a worse of state when I tapered to fast this time so I am in a very difficult situation. If I just quit the celexa cold turkey I will be no better of and probably worse than I am right now.

I have no idea what to do at this point.

Hey Tommy,

Every time I reduce my antidepressant dosage I go through withdrawal and it's pretty severe even with minor reductions.

I'm currently in a pretty bad crash and a few nights ago tried taking 1mg of Diazepam. That just made things worse because my already destabilised CNS couldn't handle either the small dose of Diazepam or the subtle withdrawal from it the next day.

I can't imagine what would happen if I just stopped taking the antidepressant and just started taking benzos instead. I'd bet that it'd probably kill me. Already have breathing problems that get worse when I reduce my dose...

Maybe what you're suggesting would work for some people but it wouldn't be the best thing to suggest as a standard approach for everyone.

Funky

A convenient link to my introduction post

2003 Paroxetine (20mg I think) daily for 5 months due to extreme anxiety before final exams and stopped cold turkey. From 2003 onwards I have suffered with extreme anxiety, akathisia, severe muscle tension & digestive problems whenever off I'm off anti-depressants.

2007 Clonazepam (unsure of dose) - took approximately 100 tablets to try and self medicate for anxiety.

2007-09 Amitryptyline 10mg - was advised to take this "as and when needed" for anxiety.

April/May 2011 Diazepam 2mg - 2 week course followed by complete inability to sleep upon finishing so started Citalopram 40mg and I was able to sleep again.

Mid 2012 Diazepam 10mg - took approximately 100 tablets.

Mid 2012 Started Citalopram taper - 5mg reductions every month or two, severe withdrawal symptoms throughout taper.

Apr 2013 Completely off Citalopram and continued to have severe withdrawal.

Oct 2013 Completely fell to pieces mentally and alongside had a whole host of debilitating physical symptoms too. I went to the doctors who performed whole batteries of tests but had no idea what was wrong with me. They tried me on Sertraline and Amitryptyline to which I had terrible reactions which made symptoms worse. Eventually got put on Nortryptyline 25mg, which I tolerated and over 3 months withdrawal symptoms started to abate.

Mid 2014 discovered survivingantidepressants.org and hallelujah! I knew what was wrong with me - slow taper FTW!

Late 2014 & 2015 Reduced Nortryptyline 22.5mg & 20mg respectively in November & December of 2014. In 2015 Tapered Nortryptyline from 20mg to 10 mg in 2mg increments. Withdrawal symptoms with each dose reduction are debilitating but in a much different way to Citalopram.

Don't worry djone, I'm in the middle of a battle with celexa as well, I can understand where your coming from, it will get better, unfortunately is just a time thing, but we will get better, one day at a time, one foot in front of the other. Stay strong my friend hugs Ali

10 years citalopram 30mg- tapered down in December 15/2015- Jan 15/2016 to 20mg for two weeks, ten for one week and five for another week, then stopped, less then two weeks later, sheer hell broke lose with debilitating withdrawal symptoms.

Update-- reinstated 5mg of celexa on feb 5-- within hours noticed immediate difference in WD symptoms-- Holding holding and more holding.

Updose- March 23/16 too 10mg- relieved the harsher head symptoms- current symptoms headaches, dizzy, numbness and tingling in my head.

Benzos- 2015-Ativan on and off for 6 months 2mg- switched to clonazepam nov 2015- 2mg till Jan 2016 Zopiclone 7.5mg nov-dec 2015- was tapered off over 4weeks- Currently in protracted withdrawal. ????????????????????????????????

Update- ended up in the hospital April 18/16 major suicidal ( never had that before) was admitted/ been there ever since, put me back to full dose celexa 30mg no drugs added, IAM FINALLY STABLE AFTER 3 months of tortuous hell. Got a great physiatrist that new all about WD, he will help me taper properly in a couple of months at 5% deductions holding 8 weeks. I never want to relive that hell again.

Udate- stable and holding, doing things slowly is key.

TommyG, I cannot support your judgments. It is irresponsible to urge someone here to take an action unless you intend to support them throughout the experience, even if it turns bad. Will you be here for DJ should he quit Celexa because you want him to and develops withdrawal symptoms on top of the problems he's having?

DJ, thank you for posting your daily symptom pattern.

It seems to me that, again, it's the Klonopin that's the problem. Klonopin reaches peak plasma 1-4 hours after ingestion; when you take your Klonopin dose at 7 a.m., you are getting a paradoxical reaction right on time, a few hours later, in the form of "akathisia" and other symptoms.

It looks like your symptoms come and go in relation to your Klonopin dosing. Are some Klonopin doses missing? What is your daily Klonopin schedule?

You might test whether it's the Celexa by moving the timing of the Celexa dose -- but you have enough problems right now without bringing in another drug change.

Taking klonopin .125mg at 7am 10am 7pm 10pm I think alot of it is the klonopin but what do u do about it? Crossover to Val but than I am going to destabilize even more.

If I do nothing than what no healing? I have been in alot better place than this just last year. Not perfect but better.

From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. you have a bit of a Klonopin bald patch. Seems you have a little window 5ish when it's at a low point. Please discuss this in your Benzo forum topic.

This may be dumb, especially as Ihavent read all your recent history, but have you already discussed the possibility of going to every six hours Klonopin dosing if you are having to break it up?

1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to mania 6/2006--then I was taken abruptly off Cymbalta and didn't know I had SSRI withdrawal. Lots of meds for my intractable "bipolar" symptoms.

Zyprexa started about 9/06, mostly 5mg. Tapered 4/12 through12/29/12

Wellbutrin. XL 300 mg started 1/07, tapered 1/18/13 through 7/8/13

Oxazepam mostly continuously since 6/06, 30mg since 12/12, tapered 1.17.14 through 8.26.15

11/06 Lithium 600mg twice daily, 2.2.14 400mg TID DIY liquid, 2.12.14 1150mg, 3.2.14 1100mg, 3.18.14 1075mg, 4/14 updose to 1100mg, 6.1.14 900 mg capsules 7.8.14 810mg, 8.17.14 725mg, 8.24.24 700mg...10.22.14 487.5mg, 3.9.15 475mg, 4.1.15 462.5mg 4.21.15 450mg 8.11.15 375mg, 11.28.15 362.5mg, back to 375mg four days later, 3.4.16 updose to 475 (too much going on to risk trouble)

9/4/13 Toprol-XL 25mg daily for sudden hypertension, tapered 11.12.13 through 5.3.14, last 10 days or so switched to atenolol

7.4.14 Started Walsh Protocol

Discussion of the benzo dosing should be taking place there, or we'll get uncoordinated.

Hi DJ ,   I haven't been following your benzo thread , but am wondering about this suggestion from 20 March:

"  have you already discussed the possibility of going to every six hours Klonopin dosing if you are having to break it up? "

Did you make any changes to klonipin doses / times in the last few days?

1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg

2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg

Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Care taken over by Dr Lucire in March 2013 , decreased last 30mg at 2mg per week over 3 months. July 21 , 2013- last dose of Cymbalta

Protracted withdrawal syndrome kicked in badly Jan.2014 Unrelenting akathisia until May 2014. Voluntary hosp. admission. Cocktail of Seroquel, Ativan and mirtazapine and I was well enough to go home after 14 days. Stopped all hosp. meds in next few months.

July 2014 felt v.depressed - couldn't stop crying. Started pristiq 50mg. Felt improvement within days and continued to improve, so stayed on 50mg for 8 months.

Began taper 28 Feb. 2015. Pristiq 50mg down to 45mg. Had one month of w/d symptoms. Started CES therapy in March. No w/d symptoms down to 30mg.

October 2015 , taking 25mg Pristiq. Capsules compounded with slow-release additive.

March 2016 , 21mg

It can get better, it does get better.

You just have to go through it.

There are no shortcuts, no easy answers - you just have to go through it.  Since you are so far along, it is shorter to go through it than to go back and try again.

Rest, put one foot in front of the other. Rest some more, if you need to.    Take care of yourself.

Holding is hard work, holding is a blessing. Give your brain time to heal before you try again.

My suggestions are not medical advice, you are in charge of your own medical choices.

A lifetime of being prescribed antidepressants that caused problems (30 years in total). At age 35 flipped to "bipolar," but was not diagnosed for 5 years. Started my journey in Midwest United States. Crossed the Pacific for love and hope; currently living in Australia.   CT Seroquel 25 mg some time in 2013.   Tapered Reboxetine 4 mg Oct 2013 to Sept 2014 = GONE (3 years on Reboxetine).     Tapered Lithium 900 to 475 MG (alternating with the SNRI) Jan 2014 - Nov 2014, tapered Lithium 475 mg Jan 2015 -  Feb 2016 = GONE (10 years  on Lithium).  Many mistakes in dry cutting dosages were made.

DJones,

Sorry to hear you are struggling.  If you are considering an updose I would suggest you titrate up more slowly than jumping to 5mg.  I would suggest you try going from 1mg to 2mg and see how you do on that.  It is always best to use the least amount of the medicine possible both to avoid stressing the CNS and also to leave you less to taper in the future.

Please advise how you are doing.

Best,

Andy

Sertraline 50mg and Clonazapam .375mg from 2000 -- symptoms of dizziness Spring 2012

increased to .5 Clonazapam and 100mg Sertraline -- no improvement

Benzo microtaper from November 2012 to November 2014 (followed benzo sites "taper benzo first")

Started Sertraline taper in December 2014 cut by 25mg to 75mg; 62.5mg 1/1/15 and 50mg on 2/1/15

Held at 50mg through April 5 to use liquid
Reduced dosage in 10% or less drops from 50mg to 25mg -- at single tablet of 25mg on 10/5/15

Transitioned to all liquid for accuracy while tapering -- Horrible insomnia -- back to 25mg liquid and held until October 1, 2016

10/16 -- 11/18 tapered very slowly to 10.6mg.  No real improvement and never really stable so updosed to 12.5mg (1/2 a pill) for convenience and long hold.

After 8+ months of holding with no noticeable improvement decided to add .4ml of liquid Prozac (about 1.5mg) to see if that improves the situation

Supplements, Magnesium, D3, Omega 3, curcumin, Valerian, 81mg Aspirin, L-Theanine, Vit. C,
