Do you have some chamomile or other soothing tea?  Try a meditation?  I like the Calm.com site for simplicity.  You can choose a soothing scene with sound like running water, birds chirping, waves, choose the length, and wether it is guided or not.  It's a bit repetitive if you do the guided over and over, but still good.  I'm going to do one now.

SG

Started ADs back around 1995 after bad break-up, starting with Prozac.  Switched to Wellbutrin, and then to Effexor in 2002
Effexor XR 2002-2014 up to 225 mg at one point, down to 37.5 mg towards end but back up to 75 mg in 2014; now realize I had W/D as I dropped down, memory very poor about history.  Extreme emotions, poor concentration as I stepped back down, didn't connect the dots!
Summer 2014 reduced to 0 very quickly, was sick of anhedonia/sexual dysfunction due to meds, depression never controlled if not worse. Didn't recognize WD since symptoms built slowly (thought I had ADD! and menopausal on top of it), starting with severe sweats, very bad cog-fog and memory issues, culminating in weight loss, severe anxiety and depression, panic, severe apathy and insomnia by eight months off.  Saw p-doc who put me on Remeron, increased from 7.5 mg/day to 37.5 mg by May 22, 2015; still doing very badly though able to sleep.

June 1. 2015 Reinstated Effexor XR 37.5 mg, Remeron dropped to 30 mg PM. Immediate relief of symptoms, like nothing had ever happened!  Joined SA and began on advice of friend who recognized it was WD all along! Began tapering in July 2015.

Been tapering both meds ever since, focusing on one more than the other or doing no more than 5% of each per month.

12 mg Effexor and 5.8 mg Remeron (mirtazapine SolTabs to make a solution with OraPlus) as of 5/4/2017

Update 3/14/18: 2.9 mg Remeron and 6 mg Effexor; 6/10/18:  2.6 mg Remeron and 4.9 mg Effexor

Thanks guys! Chiistian I am 31 years old and it all started at 28. I like your perspectives.

I too fear loosing my job, house and car but I managed to work through it. But now I am fearing these things again but I am doing so poorly That I can barly leave the house some days.

I am doing a little better since the updose to 1.5mg Celexa it still feels like I am on edge 24/7 and I have pins and needles and elextrical feelings all over my body and every little sound makes my skin crawl. I feel kinda like I did at the beginning like crawling out of my skin. I sure hope it gets better soon and goes back to my normal state of hell.

Hi DJ,

I'm so sorry you are suffering so much too!

When did your needles and electrical sensation start? Did you observe a pattern of it over time and / or within a day? I'm with you and know exactly how you feel with those pains as I have been having them for years!

Anything got worse/ better since the updose?

All the electrical sensations I have had for awhile but I feel they continue to get worse. I have been having extreme anxiety and panic attacks I feel worse off than ever right now. I have no idea how I am getting out of this, I feel like maybe I have been getting worse since updose I don't know. I feel probably worse now than ever before. I don't know what to do.

Was just thinking about the mistakes I have made my life.

1. Biggest mistake was going on psyc drugs 15 years ago and the torture and merry go around that followed. With becoming an alcoholic and drug addict which I feel is all realted.

2. Trusting so called doctors and staying

On them for my so called imbalance.

3. Going off them so quickly 3 years ago and than listening to the so called professionals to go back on the full dose of Celexa after being off for over a month. After that failed listening to there opinion that I was now bipolar which lead to more drugs and 2 trips to the psyc ward climbing the walls with Akathesia.

4.Starting back on 5mg of Celexa and .5mg of clonazapam to try and stabilize. I should have just rode out the withdrawl and I would probably be better by now.

5. Slowing down and keeping better log of symptoms when I got down to low dose. I am now back in acute withdrawl after 3 years with who knows how long until I somewhat stabilize on the 1.5mg and than I have to taper the rest for probably another year. Than I have to taper the klonopin for another year with more than likely a protracted withdrawl.

Don't beat yourself up DJ on top of this horiduous journey!

We are all victims of the crime from pharm and doctors. The huge unknown is prone for errors for everyone in the struggle.

I remember someone said that acceptance is the starting of healing. I used to beat myself up almost every day for year for the huge mistake starting the drug based on recommendation from a friend for a bad headache! It took me years to eventually let go now I only need to focus on dealing with the WD.

I used to plan a lot for the journey then hit all types of walls regardless how much I learned about the unpredictable nature of this process. I now only live one day at a step which helps with less stress and disappointment.

I know there is not much great thing I can say, just want you know you are not alone.

Does anyone know how long it will be until I can somewhat stabilize on this 1.5mg? I an completely crawlin out of my skin again maybe I need to go up more. I am having a real hard time and need help. Shaking very badly and these panic attacks have never been this bad. I feel as if when the Klonopin wares off I start to panic with terror I have no idea.

DJ, this may not be Celexa withdrawal. It sounds to me like you are getting rebound anxiety from the Klonopin when it wears off.

Could be rebound anxiety from the K but I just took it an hour ago and I am in a panic and anxiety right now. I have not seen Emmons yet because I figured what's the point but I guess I should.

What do you suggest I do alto?

Take Celexa and .25mg klonopin at 8am and .25mg klonoon at 6pm everyday. I wake up with horrific anxiety and panic get up eat breakfast and I am ok until usually around lunch time or a little after than anxiety comes back stays for an hour or 2.

I am ok until about 4 or 5 pm than anxiety/akathesia, panic until 6 or 7pm goes away and usually creeps back in around 10 pm stays for awhile than I am pretty calm at 1130pm which is bedtime.

When I say ok I mean like somewhat functional but really I have not been good really most of all days. These are the symptoms that are with me most of the time with small windows.

It seems the benzo is a prime suspect. Celexa withdrawal may or may not be in play.

Ok, I just have this thought that I might die from this I am afraid to die but I don't know how much more my body can take. And it really feels like I am dieing. Seems as though ever sense i went up on the Celexa it's got worse maybe I am having another adverse reaction all over again. I am just so screwed up right now I can not believe it after this long.

I guess I will just wait to see if the change in the klonopin works. I just really don't want to die.

April 2013 Doc put me back on 40mg of celexa for 2.5 weeks than switched to Paxil 3 weeks adverse reaction and kindling reaction
July 2013 5mg celexa and .5mg klonopin daily

5/15/16 started lamictal and currently at 25mg daily once a day.

1/1/17 crossed over from .5mg klonopin to 10mg Valium.

3/1/17 off celexa from getting down to around .25mg.

5/25/17 started tapering the Valium from 10mg to 9mg

6/25/17 dropped down to 8mg Valium

currently on 8mg of Valium and 25mg of lamictal once a day in the morning never could handle more than 25mg of lamictal and never really felt anything from it.

7/2/17 updosed to 10mg Valium and holding split twice a day and holding.

3/1/18 dropped Valium from 10mg to 9.5mg

4/1/18 dropped Valium from 9.5 to 9mg still on 25mg lamictal.

Updosed 6/20/18 Valium 10mg and 25mg lamictal and holding.

Dp

Anxiety

Terror

Panic

Nerve pain

Headaches

Fullness in head

Akathesia

Weakness in legs

Electrical sensations pins and needles

Shaking/trembling

Weird sensations in brain and electrical activity

Racing thoughts

Ocd

Hearing stuff sometimes

Ringing in ears

Overly sensitive to all stimuli and the list goes on.

Lexapro: started in 2002 at 10 mgs.

Ambien: started as a as needed sleep aid in 2010.

Quit Lexapro cold turkey in June 20015 due to contributing to low sodium issues.

Restarted Lexapro in late November for a week (only 5 mgs) but quit due to dizziness side effects. Side effects worsened for 3 weeks until

12/24/15: Protracted WD hit, experienced extreme anxiety, insomnia lack of full concentration and social challenges.

Reinstated Lexapro on 1/1/16 at 5 mgs. Increased per Dr to 7.5 MG. Tapered off Lexapro in March 2016.

Started 50MG of Seroquel in late January 2016 for bedtime to help in eliminate Ambien. Tapered off both Seroquel and Ambien in March 2016.

2/14/16: Prescribed both Remeron (15 MG) and Temazapam (15 MG) for sleep. Also use Klonopin and Ambien again in place of Temazapam to avoid addiction. However I did take Temazapam 60 straight days

6/15/16: Stopped use of all benzo's and now use Belsomra 1-2 times a week. Still on 15 MG of Remeron

10/11/16: Off all psych medications

After kindling, trying to regain my strength suffering from severe mental and physical fatigue.

DJ,

Do you have periods where you are fine? No symptoms at all? Or does "OK" mean the symptoms aren't as intense?

Oh DJones, I am so sorry you are feeling like this - it sounds very frightening :-(  I just want you to know that I am here thinking about you.

DJ, have you cut out sources that could be contributing factors, like coffee and alcohol?  Forgive me if you have answered this before... if you have done so, it might be a good idea to put this in your sig line.

Alto, DJ could speed up the time frame for splitting doses.. I am (if he still is) having him hold at  8 AM and 10 AM and 8 PM and 10 PM (or close to, according to his schedule), wait a couple more days, then move another hour.  Maybe we should just punch thru and start moving an hour a day until the even splits are finished?  At that rate it would be 4 more days.

Yup no caffeine for 3 years and no alcohol for years either as I had some issues there. I have however had a stressful few days as it was my wife's birthday and had some people over partying and kept me up most of the night angry and alone. I also eat some pizza last night which was a mistake but looked good.

I am dosing the klonopin now at 7 and 9 am and 6 and 8pm working my way up.

DJ... why not 7 AM and 9 AM and 7 PM and 9 PM?  That's where I thought you were... You now have an 11 hour window at night.  You really need to work on closing it.. this is where the trouble seems to be coming from. Then tomorrow, go to 7 AM and 10 AM and 7 PM and 10 PM.  You may want to hold there for a day or two..Offset the hours as needed to accommodate your schedule, 8 AM and 8 PM maybe...

Well I was thinking 6pm because I am usually still up a midnight to take last dose and up by 7am. I will start 7am and 10 am and 7 pm and 10pm tomorrow. I know I need to close the gap.

I really admire how you are handling this. I know it’s difficult.

I'm not a doctor.  My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one.

My Introduction Thread

Full Drug and Withdrawal History

Brief Summary

Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects

2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010

Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal

DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms

Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal)

May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins.

Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes

Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine

Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D

June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens.

Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered

Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days.

April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close.
