Magnesium does help with muscle tightness and pain , either in a bath (as epsom salts) or in a spray , or taken internally.

I took 50mg of magnesium citrate, and it worked. my arms calmed down in half an hour. I still didn't get any sleep, but it definitely calmed me .

The funny thing is I stopped using mag 5 days ago, as I didn't think it was working.

I'll go back to taking 50mg before bedtime, see how it goes.

Have you tried Epsom salts fresh did they work for you.

Well there's some good news!

I incorporated magnesium into my day after I realized that we need it for over 300 bodily functions.

So I figured , even if I felt no difference , it helps my organs work more easily.

I have mag. chloride flakes and epsom salts (mag. sulphate) for the bath. I made a magnesium spray from the

mag. chloride (google "How to Make Magnesium Oil Spray") , and I've been taking Blackmore's mag. powder.

There's also some mag. in a multivitamin I take.  And I have Milk of Magnesia in a glass of water sometimes

at night.

I did notice more restless sleep when I don't have any at night.  I'm a big fan Roxy , I'm so glad it helps you.

Thanks fresh, I was taking between 50 and 150mg daily , but I can only seem to handle it at night. If I take even 50mg while awake I seem to get a drunken feeling. But because I was getting sleep I thought I could do without it. I guess being stressed must burn through my mag stores ,so I'll stick to the 50mg minimum daily. I take citrate, but I read glycinate may be better, do you think this is right?

Roxy.     Both forms can be good . Some say glycinate is  absorbed better.

Today is the most frightening in terms of dark thoughts. I was so depressed at about 4 till 7 I found myself wondering which would be the best way to go. This is torture, I had windows not so long ago , but now just a wave of despair. sorry to be so negative. One positive thing is, I always seem to feel better after 7pm.it's like my mind forgets what it just went through.

We're 2 peas in a pod.   4 to 7 pm.  That's the time of day when sometimes all I can see is ways to kill myself.  Even if I'm not trying.  I think I would have been ok until I accidentally ate too many "unbleached wheat" pretzels at 6pm.  Now the past 20 minutes I'm paying for it: difficulty thinking and neuro-emotions of fear and anger.  Too much pure sugar rushing straight to my brain during my "danger time".  Does me in everytime.

Do you guys have head pressure? It's good to see you can sleep. Been up since 2 AM myself !

Lexapro: started in 2002 at 10 mgs.

Ambien: started as a as needed sleep aid in 2010.

Quit Lexapro cold turkey in June 20015 due to contributing to low sodium issues.

Restarted Lexapro in late November for a week (only 5 mgs) but quit due to dizziness side effects. Side effects worsened for 3 weeks until

12/24/15: Protracted WD hit, experienced extreme anxiety, insomnia lack of full concentration and social challenges.

Reinstated Lexapro on 1/1/16 at 5 mgs. Increased per Dr to 7.5 MG. Tapered off Lexapro in March 2016.

Started 50MG of Seroquel in late January 2016 for bedtime to help in eliminate Ambien. Tapered off both Seroquel and Ambien in March 2016.

2/14/16: Prescribed both Remeron (15 MG) and Temazapam (15 MG) for sleep. Also use Klonopin and Ambien again in place of Temazapam to avoid addiction. However I did take Temazapam 60 straight days

6/15/16: Stopped use of all benzo's and now use Belsomra 1-2 times a week. Still on 15 MG of Remeron

10/11/16: Off all psych medications

After kindling, trying to regain my strength suffering from severe mental and physical fatigue.

Yes, I will get the head pressure everyday, for about only 15-20 min now.  Used to have it multiple times for up to 45 minutes at a time.  Sorry you're not sleeping buddy.  That bothers me alot when I can't

The suicidal thoughts can be part of the anxiety - a new way your adverse reaction/WD brain has found to freak you out.

I had them for quite a while. The way I tried to look at it is that creative people must have these types of thoughts all the time - otherwise how would some of the best books and movies be made - it is our reaction to them that is different in withdrawal. While I was seeing them as a threatening and terrifying portent of my inner self, writers must just see them as another idea that might lead to greater things.

I came to realise that the pills weren't going to just jump into my mouth (and the many other ways I had tortured myself imagining wouldn't just happen by themselves), I had a choice and it was going to take something far more significant than a few thoughts to hurt me. I could always get my loved ones to step in before that point. I could protect myself but I actually didn't need to.

Because they terrified me so much, I slowly realised that I wasn't having these thoughts because I wanted to harm myself. I was having them because I desperately didn't want to. They were just more ego-dystonic intrusive thoughts.

Once they lose their power the thoughts start to come less frequently and eventually go away completely.

Of course, if you start actually putting plans in place the that's an entirely different matter.

March 2003 took two sartroline tablets after a traumatic incident and had a reaction so stopped.  I am not sure now whether what I had for the next 18 months was WD after the reaction or the emotional fallout from the traumatic event.  Some of it was very similar to WD in hindsight.

February 2014 - Took five pristiq (50mg) tablets and three Ativan and had a severe reaction.
Extreme withdrawal symptoms for three weeks compounded by visit to naturopath -

One week later took 900mg St John's Wort x 3 daily for six weeks - more negative effects and suspected serotonin syndrome - before tapering over three weeks. Last tablet late May 2014.

Waves and windows cycle of recovery with longer windows and manageable waves.

May 2015 - already in a mild wave, following a usual pattern, I took clarithromicin and amoxicillin for two weeks for a sinus infection which I also seem to have had quite a reaction to.

February 2016 - Feeling much better.  I still have waves and windows but they are manageable.  I'm largely enjoying life again.

I usually don't even realize I'm having them until I actually stop to consciously think about them.  I think it's the subconscious mind's way of problem solving.  They only become scary if a person feels out of control of themselves. I think we all have a higher chance of withdrawal related accidental death, like falling asleep with a cigarette and burning the place down, or going to bed with the oven still on,etc.

Yes, that makes sense. Sometimes it would start as one of those ruminative, depression thought processes along the lines of 'this is terrible, I can't cope, I don't want to live like this', meaning 'I don't want life to be like this all the time/forever' and my brain would hop straight to 'I don't want to live at all'. I may well have just been refiling that information and response back in the right place.

I think that's pretty much the story with all of our conversations with ourselves, regardless of the topic.  But until the procession of the thought process becomes disconcerting, once reflected upon, we don't throw up the red flag that we need to refocus.  Otherwise, we just continue to waste more minutes of the day on other "non productive" thought patterns.

Slept well last night. woke up and felt ok , but my thoughts turn to later in the day . This is the worst of w/d for me by far. when I'm in it , I can't see a way out, even though I know it will calm down in the evening. Rubish plans form in my head , and I just wonder around in a fog , waiting for it to pass.

Hope you guys get a break soon.

I've had no head pressure today and dizziness has improved. And my anxiety is reduced some. But I'm exhausted from 2 months of 1-4 hours sleep. I think that might be causing more of the anxiety than the initial anxiety I had during the first weeks of WD.

Plus, add some of that wonderful fuzzyheaded, derealisation into the mix and it all starts feeling scarily plausible that you might just lose your marbles enough to do it.

I know it's of absolutely no help to you at all right now but everything you are describing is a 'normal' part of WD.  I had these two sites bookmarked in my browser and my phone and read them several times a day when I was in the worst of it.

Not saying you have developed OCD - just that the emotional symptoms of WD can be a lot like it.  Maybe these aren't the right sites for you but if you find one or two posts that can bring you back to centre and remind you of your coping strategies I would bookmark them.

Have you had any feedback from the mods about the propranol? If not, it's definitely worth asking them about it.

Hi farout, it's not so much ocd it's just when it gets bad.I start to think suicidal thoughts. over and over. I can't stop them.but the strange thing is , they give me a warped sense of comfort. sick isn't it. I've been on propanalol for anxiety from the start of December. I've tried to taper it but got a really bad wave.so because it's only 40mg daily, have decided to stay as I am, until I'm feeling better.

I know what you mean. It's not OCD it's just random thoughts hitting in a way they never used to. If you can stay calm while you have them then it's great. Keep mindful. No plans, OK?

It won't be many months until you feel improvement.  You just won't be completely better.  But you will be better than you are now.  But when you have the temporary relapses, or waves, its hard not to panic.

What was your taper schedule when you originally went off the prozac after you had been on it for a year?

Can you put that in your signature line?

If you had gone cold turkey as opposed to a slower taper, that may have affected your ability to reinstate in 11/15 when you took the 7 doses.

Also, were there any other medications that you had been given around the time you tried to go back on it in November? Any thing from say, September 2015 to the time you had the reaction? Were you given anything even 1 time or for a week?

I tapered from the first round of prozac by missing a tablet every other day for a month, then missed 2 weekly doses for a month, then jumped off no symptoms.

No I wasn't on anything else , except I've just realised I was using steroid cream on my forehead, for a fungus, about 6 months.

I've read that this can cause anxiety. could it be this was the start of my problems, which led me back to prozac. ?

Oh and around the time I was getting anxiety, I was drinking a lot of coffee, come to think of it this is all my fault. I wish I could go back.

Honey, this is NOT YOUR FAULT. Nothing you were doing at the time was negligent.

Yes,caffeine can cause a lot of anxiety and so can steroids.  A LOT of people have problems with steroids.

I'm not sure why they gave you prozac for anxiety, but we can't look back and blame yourself now.

The missing a dose every other day is not a good way to taper, but I'm sure you were following advice.

I have had very severe reactions to steroids. Wondering if it was the steroids so close to the prozac that gave you the reaction.

There does seem to be a recurring theme of people having bad reactions if they took the antidepressant around the time of other drugs that are known problems, like steroids, haldol, even antibiotics that cause brain issues, like Gentamicin and Levaquin.

But there's no way of knowing ahead of time, so it's not your fault. It's just a possibility as to why.

Yeah, but as for prozac for anxiety, that's my fault, I asked for it due to the success of the first time. I never knew this would happen.

What is the best thing for headaches, I don't really want to take drugs .
