Since Friday night. It feels like really bad sinuses. But it brings a deep depression with it.I'm hoping it doesn't last much longer.

Have you tried steam?

March 2003 took two sartroline tablets after a traumatic incident and had a reaction so stopped.  I am not sure now whether what I had for the next 18 months was WD after the reaction or the emotional fallout from the traumatic event.  Some of it was very similar to WD in hindsight.

February 2014 - Took five pristiq (50mg) tablets and three Ativan and had a severe reaction.
Extreme withdrawal symptoms for three weeks compounded by visit to naturopath -

One week later took 900mg St John's Wort x 3 daily for six weeks - more negative effects and suspected serotonin syndrome - before tapering over three weeks. Last tablet late May 2014.

Waves and windows cycle of recovery with longer windows and manageable waves.

May 2015 - already in a mild wave, following a usual pattern, I took clarithromicin and amoxicillin for two weeks for a sinus infection which I also seem to have had quite a reaction to.

February 2016 - Feeling much better.  I still have waves and windows but they are manageable.  I'm largely enjoying life again.

It's not my actual sinuses, it's a pain in the front of my head that pressure's my sinuses, quite unnerving. It's a new symptom along with light sensitivity. I was walking today and my eyes were hurting and I entered a tunnel between 2 building's and it immediately subsided, all since that dgl supplement.

Roxy ,  do you still feel the intense agitation?  How are you doing with being able to lay down to relax or sleep?

Did you ever find out if there was xylitol or other additives in the dgl?

1987-1997 pertofran , prothiaden , Prozac 1997-2002 Zoloft 2002-2004 effexor 2004-2010 Lexapro 40mg

2010-2012Cymbalta 120mg

Sept. 2012 -decreased 90mg in 6months. Care taken over by Dr Lucire in March 2013 , decreased last 30mg at 2mg per week over 3 months. July 21 , 2013- last dose of Cymbalta

Protracted withdrawal syndrome kicked in badly Jan.2014 Unrelenting akathisia until May 2014. Voluntary hosp. admission. Cocktail of Seroquel, Ativan and mirtazapine and I was well enough to go home after 14 days. Stopped all hosp. meds in next few months.

July 2014 felt v.depressed - couldn't stop crying. Started pristiq 50mg. Felt improvement within days and continued to improve, so stayed on 50mg for 8 months.

Began taper 28 Feb. 2015. Pristiq 50mg down to 45mg. Had one month of w/d symptoms. Started CES therapy in March. No w/d symptoms down to 30mg.

October 2015 , taking 25mg Pristiq. Capsules compounded with slow-release additive.

March 2016 , 21mg

Rich, I've had some struggles with severe head pain and a pain/pressure behind my eyes that made it feel like my eyes were going to pop out of my head. I remember asking about it in one of my threads...It's incredibly uncomfortable and unnerving. And I'm definitely more sensitive to light in general. I'm unable to go to the grocery store at all due to the lighting.

I haven't had the pain/pressure for a couple weeks, but I do have headaches almost everyday, at their worst when I wake up. I had a migraine last week that was one of the worst of my life.

Have you tried sunglasses? Do you think the pain is partially caused by the light sensitivity? Are you on the computer a lot?

For the first time since my reaction to the flower crap, my anxiety was manageable today. I had some periods of brain fog and a headache, but otherwise today was better than most days I've had lately. It's been two weeks since the reaction. It's been real up and down (mostly down, and some really really down) since that reaction. I have no idea if it's part of the window/wave thing or if I've still been recovering from the setback.

Have you had any let ups in the pain? Or is it constant?

So when you were in the tunnel, was the head pain also better? So is it better at night?

I think it will all pass. Always seems to be at its worst when we don't think we can take anymore, that we get a break... even if only for a short while.

Hi fresh, no the agitation has settled a little. My sleep has been good one day really bad the next. Last night was a return of old symptoms, I was hungry all night, and usually I can ignore it and get back to sleep, but last night I got the old tingling arms and head so had to eat .I woke every 2 hours just like the first couple of weeks after prozac.

Also a curious thing ,I had an antacid and almost immediately felt better, I'm totally confused. Mag makes no difference either way .

Oh and yes it has xylitol in it , is this a well known problem sweetner .

Hi cr , no the pain was non stop the first day ,and then every day since it has eased .

The light sensitivity is better in the evening, but I have to limit my time on the phone, I don't have a computer . I like you don't know if this is a wave or still from the reaction.

It's good to hear your starting to see improvement .

I knew I shouldn't have said anything.

This afternoon is awful , pain in front of my head is terrible. I can't sit down, walk around. how do people get past this .

I still don't think this is a wave, I just can't believe it's been 5 days, since the reaction, and it's still going strong.

How much longer.

I've been dealing with it for two months, everyday, I know exactly how you feel, some days I think I can't go on, but I just push and be as strong as I can, hope it gets better for you. Ali

10 years citalopram 30mg- tapered down in December 15/2015- Jan 15/2016 to 20mg for two weeks, ten for one week and five for another week, then stopped, less then two weeks later, sheer hell broke lose with debilitating withdrawal symptoms.

Update-- reinstated 5mg of celexa on feb 5-- within hours noticed immediate difference in WD symptoms-- Holding holding and more holding.

Updose- March 23/16 too 10mg- relieved the harsher head symptoms- current symptoms headaches, dizzy, numbness and tingling in my head.

Benzos- 2015-Ativan on and off for 6 months 2mg- switched to clonazepam nov 2015- 2mg till Jan 2016 Zopiclone 7.5mg nov-dec 2015- was tapered off over 4weeks- Currently in protracted withdrawal. ????????????????????????????????

Update- ended up in the hospital April 18/16 major suicidal ( never had that before) was admitted/ been there ever since, put me back to full dose celexa 30mg no drugs added, IAM FINALLY STABLE AFTER 3 months of tortuous hell. Got a great physiatrist that new all about WD, he will help me taper properly in a couple of months at 5% deductions holding 8 weeks. I never want to relive that hell again.

Udate- stable and holding, doing things slowly is key.

I'm so sorry buddy,

Please don't blame yourself for this.  While the supplement may have been what triggered the wave, it didn't throw away all the healing you've done.  Reactions like this "seem" to put you back to square one with a really bad but TEMPORARY wave. It was because your CNS was already destabilized that you're having such a bad reaction.  But it will NOT take as long to get back to feeling where you had been.  You did start having the reaction almost immediately,  you just didn't recognize that's what it was, so the extra doses didn't help.  Hang in there.

When your in your worst wave col , does your head tingle, and feel full.also my eyes feel hot and achey .it just feels it won't pass .my experience says it will but I don't really believe it. I sometimes wish god would take me.I know there's suffering worse than ours , but it's hard not to be selfish, in this state.

I Don't usually get any tingling in my head.  Sometimes I feel like bugs are crawling on my legs but that is usually in the early week after a drop.  It does sometimes feel like it has cobwebs init, or like it's "full".  Sometime if I shake my head it clears for about 30 seconds.

I wonder if God will take me soon too.  Maybe for Easter.  That would be nice.

I'm just frustrated col.I only feel a bit better before bedtime. It's been 6 days now and not really improving.

If I could just get back to 2 weeks ago, I'd be happy. It's all relative, I thought 2 weeks ago I was bad , but I now realise how good it was.

It's going to get better Rich. I understand fully how you feel that it will never end. I frequently feel that way when at my worst or having a bad day. I'm 17 days out from my reaction to the "supplement" and feel much improved. I'd say the last three days have been a "window", best I've felt since the reaction. Our symptoms from these reactions vary person to person, wave to wave, and reaction to reaction. You'll get there. Hang in there the best you can. You'll be grateful that God has not taken you yet once you feel better. It will pass. Just as Colonial said, you haven't lost your progress so far. This is just a setback and will not take as long to get to where you were before. It just feels like it since every minute feels like an hour, every hour feels like 12.

Sometimes I put my warm hat on ,off the radiator, but it makes me feel flu like.

It's just so intense, my waves had settled down and only lasted about 3 days but this doesn't seem to be subsiding. All I'm doing is wishing time away till bed time, when I get a little relief. worst cortisol morning ever , really anxious, I'm just venting, glad you're feeling better cr.

(....I thought 2 weeks ago I was bad , but I now realise how good it was...)

Isn't that the truth...we start to feel a bit better, and almost "forget" how bad it was.  I think it's sort of a PTSD "Block out".  We purposely try to forget.

I had misjudged the timeline earlier. You're still in the head exploding phase. I had sinus issues later. Can't believe I suggested steam! Sorry mate.

Hope you feel better soon.

I read endless threads on here , and always the same thing , people come off the drug too quickly, reinstate and eventually taper.that option is closed for me , so I can't make my time more comfortable. I don't even care at this point if I were drugged up numb , it would be 98% better than where I am now.

I know some people have not been successful in reinstatement, and at just over 4 months out this would be really risky, but I'm desperate.

You CANNOT SUCCESSFULLY Reinstate any med that your either allergic or had a reaction to.  Your not a withdrawal case. You are a reaction case. You were starting to do better until the licorice right?  Taking the med that caused all this to begin with is not going to help your reaction to the other med.

There is no way anyone can predict how 1mg Prozac will affect you.

It sounds like your bad reaction to DGL is going away, slowly.

I seem to react negatively to high carb foods and sugar. I've read the same from others. And obviously no caffeine or alcohol.

Basically try to stick to whole natural foods. Vegetables, fruits, meat and nuts.

My go to foods have been carrots, nuts, broccoli, asparagus, potatoes, lettuce, beef, chicken, eggs, fruit. I seem to do okay with cheese too, but don't overdo it. I do well with tacos so have been doing that a lot for dinner. Or I'll do meat in the slow cooker (easy) and just add a fruit and veggie. I don't have the energy or ability to put much more effort into it.

I do poorly with sandwiches (probably due to the bread) - I can do wraps with tortillas. Unfortunately I also do real poorly with pizza. Won't even attempt pasta.

Breakfast usually consists now of eggs and maybe carrots or fruit. If I have no appetite I'll usually just munch on some nuts.

Lunch is usually similar. Maybe some meat and fruit, maybe some cheese.

Boring... but seems to help and is certainly healthy! I'll occasionally indulge in a couple bites of a sweet.

I also have to make sure not to overeat. I try and keep the meals smaller and lightly snack throughout the day. I also don't overdo the fruits, I eat smaller amounts. This is due to the sugar but I also have a fructose intolerance.

Thanks cr.what does it do to you if you eat bread, how does it make you feel.

I seem ok with porridge, but as the day goes on, carbs hurt my head.

I've been neglecting fruit and veg, I eat bananas, but veg seems to take a bit of preparation.

Hi Rich - the carbs/bread seem to ramp up my anxiety tremendously, cause brain fog and can cause headaches.

I tried oatmeal once, which i think is the same as porridge...but it wasn't natural, in that it had sugar added. I ended up having a terrible day. So I reacted negatively to it.

Can you try eating some raw carrots? Maybe some nuts? That is very easy.

I think I am still in my window. Although I had a health scare yesterday/this morning which caused me severe anxiety (not from the reaction) and stress, and I hardly slept last night. So I'm a little concerned about how that will effect me.

I'm back to dealing with my severe pain issues now, which have compounded now, and is what made me end up in this situation in the first place.

How far out are you out from your dgl reaction? I think it took me about two weeks. So I bet you'll start seeing improvement soon! :)

I'm about 10 days out and seeing little improvements, don't like saying that ,touch wood .

I didn't sleep last night either, but it was anxiety, don't know if it's related.

I think if we did everything perfect, we would have an easier time , but it's impossible, we're human.

Which gets me thinking, can triggers actually turn back healing, or just bring on waves while healing continues.

I'm no expert, but I would think not all is lost. I think instead of one step back like they say with a wave, it's probably two steps back. So might make the wave worse, and possibly longer, but I think you can probably come out better on the other side, or at least similar to where you were in your healing. I think we're always healing. We just might add an extra kink in the healing.

As of today, I do not feel as though I've lost all my progress.

I think you're right about doing everything right. It really stinks that there is no specific way to do this. What helps for one might hurt another, etc...

It's very frustrating and makes us feel so helpless.

My problems are unrefined carbs and sugars.  Rye bread and sweet potatoes or yams are good for the same reason with diabetics, it does not spike your sugar up fast but metabolizes over time.  Stay away from processed foods with artificial colors and flavors and chocolates.  They all contain neurotoxins which will affect your symptoms.  Stay away from fast food and microwave meals.

Stick with Rye bread, sweet potatoes, nuts, fresh veggies and fruits, meats, fish.
