Roxyrich: adverse reaction to prozac

Last night I was considering ending it all

I can't think of any thing else, I've woken up to massive panic and just can't see a way out.

Have taken a 10mg propranolol, I've got no choicebut to try something.

If I go to the hospital, I'm scared they'll drug me and will basically kill me.

Even though I know there's people suffering just like me , it's not helping me.

I am so sorry.  I know you said that it doesn't help to know others are suffering but I wanted to tell you that I understand how you are feeling.  The same thoughts are with me as constantly.  Please hang on. Is there anyone you can talk to in person?

Wishing you the same, not cheesy at all.  In reading through your thread, you have been through a lot and are very strong.  You did have a period of time where you felt better so no doubt that will happen again for you.  I am just so sorry you have to feel this way now.

It will get better.

It won't always be like this.

God bless.

Edit: I should also mention that I'm going through my worst wave since my initial taper, so I think Colonial is onto something with the SAD.

Rich, hang in there.

My guess is going off propanolol is not related to your resurgence in symptoms, but if you found it beneficial, it might have been a decent crutch. Did taking a little propranolol the other day help?

Has the weather been unusually hot where you live?

Have you tried these supplements, they often help:

King of supplements: Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil)

Magnesium, nature's calcium channel blocker

Magnesium in particular, sipped in water throughout the day, can take the edge of anxiety.

Is there a doctor you can work with? Please read

I've been taking propranolol again.

It helped me yesterday, but last night, terrible nightmares. this morning I'm fatigued again, I hate not been able to sleep when I feel like this.

I drop off and instantly have a dream, then jolt awake feeling awful.

I think it might take some time to get used to the propranolol again.

I'm too scared to take lamictal , without serious research. but it definitely intrigues me.

Fierce hunger is also a symptom from my early days.

How much propranolol did you take?

You may wish to take a low dose of propranolol 3 times a day. It's half-life is about 12 hours. That should cover you for the whole day.

I'm taking 3 10mg tablets spread evenly throughout the day. If you only take 1 or 2 you can feel them wearing off.

On another note, I had a dream last night, that I was having a seizure. It was loud and very real. It took me a few minutes to realise it was a dream.

Scared me to death.

Fatigue lasted most of the day, the only time it subsides is when I'm super hungry.I only have a little bit of chicken every three hours or so , washed down with water , and it's still incredibly powerful.

Then in the evening it switches to agitation, and then I have to eat to keep it at bay.

What is wrong with me , my life is so twisted , I can't make any sense of it.

I'm 46 years old, but I feel like I'm 6.

At least once a day I want to talk to my grandma ,for comfort. (God rest her).

I feel so weak and scared.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

My mornings are worse also and I have windows of normality later at night for a few hours as well.

Eventually the late night windows get longer and the mornings recover too.

Do you get that really heavy fatigue feeling in your head.

It makes you feel you have to sleep, but can't.

I seem to go from intense agitation to fatigue, mostly food related.

Just curious to weather we all get the same symptoms, colonial.

Yes, and with me, it's food related as you said!

I can get a sleep paralysis in the afternoons if I eat too much carbs or sugar, say between 4 and 7 pm usually.

The afternoons being the "lull" of the day for everyone's brain to begin with, if I have a big meal if pasta or something where I have all these carbs and or sugar rushing to my brain, what will happen is I will have to lay down like I'm going to fall asleep, but I stay conscious. but I loose the ability to move, speak, etc.  It lasts usually around 45 minutes to an hour.  So I'm in a state of heavy sedation, but not fully asleep, I can hear what's going on around me, but some part of my brain is in a coma like state and I'm unable to move or speak.  It''s literally like the time I woke up during a surgery and could hear and feel everything they were doing but couldn't open my eyes or move to tell the I was conscious.  So when my symptoms are bad I know I can't eat after 3pm and before 9pm or I risk an episode of sleep paralysis.

But it's starts off like you say, a real heavy fatigue like all of a sudden you just have to go lay down and sleep.  It's just for me I never go completely unconscious or fully asleep.

See if there is a pattern of the time of the day for you, and if so, avoid large heavy meals during that time.  See if you can avoid it that way.

I'm finding out the hard way , I can't eat between 12 midday and about 5pm.

Even protein hurts at this time.

I'm probably getting around 800 to a 1000 calories per day.

I'm feeling pretty weak.

If you do not have any food allergies, you can get some easily digestible items.

Whole milk has a little bit of everything, sugar, protein, calories and fats.  If you drink it in the morning and after the 5pm danger period it can go a long way to keeping your strength up.

Non salted nuts of sunflower seeds are great too.

Your body needs easily digestible fats at this time, too So any food that's a fit higher in fat will offset the fact your not eating too much.  I find that the liquid calories from the milk help a lot because they don't need to be digested like a meal but still give you some of everything.,

Stay  away from orange juice right now, that always sent me for a spiral and gave me the psychic seizures and the rest from time to time:

My symptoms have taken a turn for the worst. I just can't sleep, every time I start to drop off I'm jerking awake, it's making my head feel really bad.

I've had 3 days, with no sleep, then got 1 night , but currently on day 2of no sleep again.

I'm not sure why this is happening but I'm losing hope.

What did you do with the propranolol?

Did you restart it 3 times a day at 10 mg or did you just take a few doses on the 9th

Did you notice any help if you took just a few?

I'm taking 4 doses a day , and it does help with the anxiety, but the not sleeping was there before, plus after taking it again, I've had symptoms I could handle.

But the Lastcouple of days have been really bad. I'm talking about literally living in extreme pain.

I'm getting close to being unable to stand this.

Yes, the exact same thing. it's like I took more prozac without knowing. But I haven't.

I've taken nothing and I'm absolutely at a loss for what's happening to me.

All I can think it's its autumn.  My symptoms are back for no good reason as well and so are bhep's.

I see that you re tried the Prozac in NOVEMBER of 2015, so obviously this time of year, autumn, like for many people, is hard for you to begin with, or you wouldn't have thought to re try the drug for depression or whatever symptoms you were having..

You took the 7 doses in November and that's when it began.

So if you have history of having symptoms this time of year to begin with, it think, the good news, is there isn't a thing "you" did wrong.

This is the very same conversation I just had with my doctor last week. I told Him, "I have good news and bad news.  The good news is I'm not the only one on the website who is having severe withdrawal or reaction symptoms for no good reason, the bad news is just that, it's nothing I've done."

The problem is, when it's just an unexpected flare up, and nothing we did to cause it, it's actually "worse", if you ask me, that if we had done something stupid.  Because at least we would have an answer as to go about fixing it.

This feeling of being completely helpless and being 100% guilt free in causing the relapse, to me, seems worse than the guilt of having done something to have brought it on yourself.

If it's just a autumn induced wave, all any of us can do is ride it out for a few more weeks.  But the truth of that can make people panic instead of helping them relax.  It's all how we train our brain to go "through" the wave.  If we sit around thinking and feeling "annoyed or paniced" because it's out of our control, we can make it worse.

I just keep sitting here telling myself what a good job I'm doing, "I actually paid the electric bill today!".  Well woop de doo, right?  But it's what you have to do. Just try to train my conscious brain to ignore it and keep repeating to myself:  "It's better today than yesterday and it's gonna be better tomorrow".  Eventually, it kicks in to the subconscious and the panic-induced symptoms subside, which allow the rest of the brain to heal.
