I've developed a new symptom .every day around midday, I get a restless tingling in my head. It hurts to talk ,it also hurts when I'm hungry and when I'm not.

It feels like intense agitation. It also flares up with stress.this feels like it's here to stay ,has anyone felt this and how long did it last.

It sounds like both neurological and CNS related, which, in the long run, means it's probably "temporary" WD Related.  I have had "tingling" responses to antibiotics after being on them a week or so.

Don't despair that your having "different" symptoms out of nowhere.  From what I have learned, it actually indicates that your body is progressing further along in the healing progress.  Many exchange one set of symptoms for another as we move further along towards recovery.

Just checking in.  How are you doing?

March 2003 took two sartroline tablets after a traumatic incident and had a reaction so stopped.  I am not sure now whether what I had for the next 18 months was WD after the reaction or the emotional fallout from the traumatic event.  Some of it was very similar to WD in hindsight.

February 2014 - Took five pristiq (50mg) tablets and three Ativan and had a severe reaction.
Extreme withdrawal symptoms for three weeks compounded by visit to naturopath -

One week later took 900mg St John's Wort x 3 daily for six weeks - more negative effects and suspected serotonin syndrome - before tapering over three weeks. Last tablet late May 2014.

Waves and windows cycle of recovery with longer windows and manageable waves.

May 2015 - already in a mild wave, following a usual pattern, I took clarithromicin and amoxicillin for two weeks for a sinus infection which I also seem to have had quite a reaction to.

February 2016 - Feeling much better.  I still have waves and windows but they are manageable.  I'm largely enjoying life again.

Hi farout, I've been on and off for the last month, since the reaction I've been suffering different symptoms, mainly head agitation. I've been posting less to avoid obsessing too much.I've got the muscle pain back and I'm trying to figure out if it's a lack of calcium. I take around 150mg of magnesium citrate, but when I take an antacid, my whole body calms down, and the main ingredient is calcium carbonate. Just another impossible question.

I was up all night with a massive headache myself, I took fish oil, will not be doing that again, it was horrid.

10 years citalopram 30mg- tapered down in December 15/2015- Jan 15/2016 to 20mg for two weeks, ten for one week and five for another week, then stopped, less then two weeks later, sheer hell broke lose with debilitating withdrawal symptoms.

Update-- reinstated 5mg of celexa on feb 5-- within hours noticed immediate difference in WD symptoms-- Holding holding and more holding.

Updose- March 23/16 too 10mg- relieved the harsher head symptoms- current symptoms headaches, dizzy, numbness and tingling in my head.

Benzos- 2015-Ativan on and off for 6 months 2mg- switched to clonazepam nov 2015- 2mg till Jan 2016 Zopiclone 7.5mg nov-dec 2015- was tapered off over 4weeks- Currently in protracted withdrawal. ????????????????????????????????

Update- ended up in the hospital April 18/16 major suicidal ( never had that before) was admitted/ been there ever since, put me back to full dose celexa 30mg no drugs added, IAM FINALLY STABLE AFTER 3 months of tortuous hell. Got a great physiatrist that new all about WD, he will help me taper properly in a couple of months at 5% deductions holding 8 weeks. I never want to relive that hell again.

Udate- stable and holding, doing things slowly is key.

Roxy, I found most supplements very activating initially. Epsom salts baths and a few drops of essential oils (lavender oil for relaxing mainly) was pretty much all I could take for a while.

I think the stress really impacts on backs. That and our pain receptors seem to be on hyper-alert. I've given birth twice with no pain relief but in a wave, the pull of my hair in a ponytail felt unbearable. Physoptherapy can help with the knotted muscles.

It's been 5 weeks since my reaction to dgl.my symptoms have got stuck in a daily pattern.

I wake at 4am with fear.I usually calm down at 10am, then I feel ok till about 1pm , then massive fatigue, then the worst symptom at about 5pm internal head agitation, which is almost unbearable.

If I'm lucky, it dies down just enough for me to get some sleep. These symptoms have lasted a week so far.

I felt terrible in the late afternoon/early evening too. It was by far the worst time for me, which was hard because everyone else seemed to agree that it was the the morning cortisol spike that was the toughest. I also had that, but found that was much easier to attribute to a physiological cause so didn't torment me as much. I put the evening stuff down to fatigue - having done my best to hold my brain straight all day (to whatever extent I could) it had just had enough by then. I found those colouring books or cross stitch helpful. TV and other screen hurt my eyes.

I'm sorry it's tough going at the moment. I hope your wave breaks soon.

I agree, I can handle the early morning cortisol waking, because I expect it,also the midday fatigue, but the head agitation is awful, my eyes hurt ,and concentration is out of the window.

I hope the agitation settles soon. I'm getting on for 6 months out , feels like forever.

Rockyrich your story sounds very similar to mine . I took it for a week and I couldn't handle it . I could barely get out of bed . I'm 5 weeks off and I still get that nervousness ( anxiety ) in the morning and fell uncoordinated and unsteady when I walk . The worse thing is weakness in my lags and fatigue .

Xanax PRN ( 1/2 of .25mg approximately 2-3 a month when needed ) since May 2015

In April 2016 started birth control and in my opinion it triggered anxiety for almost a week straight and took 1/2 .25mg Xanax everyday for that week ( never had taken that many in a row before )

Saw the family MD and gave me Prozac 20 mg.

took it for 6 days and could not handle the side effects and had to stop working

Went back to the dr on the 7 day and told me to stop CT . I told him that I was scared to stop so suddenly so he gave me 10mg to take to see if the side effects decreased

Took the 10mg that night and the next day felt so much worse . After that did take anything any more except and antibiotic due to UTI

It's been almost 7 weeks and I have a lot of weakness ( comes and goes) anxiety , cortisol urges at night and worse in the morning which usually lessens throughout the day , tinnitus , heavy leg feeling , fatigue and burning skin mostly my left arm, face and neck mainly when I fee the cortisol surges .

Hi cr , I'm hanging in there. I seem to be ok some days, but in those days I have a few hours in the afternoon where I feel bad.

I'm trying not to think about it too much.

Also my sleep is better but go through days where I struggle ,so again, I try not to dwell on it.

Hi prozac20 I'm almost 6 months off now and some symptoms have faded.fatigue seems to be better than at the start but, I do get days where it comes back.it's a terrible symptom, but I have worse ones.

I hoped to symptom free by now but even though I've improved in some areas I still have rough times.

The best advice I can offer, is don't try supplements for the sake of it .I had a bad reaction to a supplement and it's been 6 weeks and I'm still not where I was before I took it.

Keep your food simple, no artificial sweetners , no chocolate or sugar and steer clear of caffeine. It won't stop waves but it might help not start them either.

How's your sleep, at 5 weeks out I slept around 1 hour a night.

I also have prob with my eyes too but it's more like over stimulation with light , like if my pupils are over dialated and too much light irritates me and I think that's part of my balance problems .

I'm very interested to know this as wel.

2001 - Zyban/Wellbutrin to quit smoking. Quit c/t and suffered with terrible anxiety/panic attacks/agoraphobia. No prior history of mental health issues. Went to see a pdoc, "diagnosed" with GAD/Panic Disorder and put on 10mg Paxil.
2007 - over the years dose raised to 60mg (about 6 months) but mostly 5 years at 40mg.
2008-2010 - numerous attempts to "taper", always too fast. Couldn't handle the symptoms so believed I "needed" meds.
Late 2011 - found PaxilProgress and realized what was happening. But had just made a large drop from 40mg to 20mg. Updosed to 30mg and held for 6 months to stabilize. Prescribed Ativan PRN for breakthrough panic while stabilizing.
Dec 2013 - down to 15mg tapering 10% per month with compounded capsules
Jan 2014 - hospitalized for a leg injury and prescribed 2mg Ativan DAILY as a (leg) muscle relaxer and to sleep. Horrific w/d after leaving hospital. Reinstated and began a taper. Paxil taper on hold.
Aug 2015 - FREE of Benzo's. 15mg Paxil

Hi , I'm back.

I've not posted in a long time.

I'd like to say I'm over this ,but I'm not.

11 months after the start of this I slowly

Started to improve. I started back at work, and apart from the odd day here and there I was ok.

This was from December 2016 till may 2017. I thought I was improving but it was a window.

In may I had a strange dizzy spell out of the blue, it left me with a toxic feeling headache for nearly a week, then I felt ok for another two weeks.

It then happened again.

And this continued to happen every week till September, then bam , I got a full blown wave ,and am now back off work, due to the intensity of it.

It's as strong as the early days, how can this be possible, I read other people's stories, and they say waves get shorter and more manageable, but mine is so bad, I think I'm not going to get better.

Has anyone experienced this , I'd love to hear from people who have been through this.

P s .the reason I've been gone so long is,

Dwelling on some of the threads started to hurt me, so I tried to limit myself from visiting. I feel guilty, asking for support when I was gone so long, but you guys helped me before, and I am grateful for that.

I'm sorry this popped up.  Did anything else happen new, medically in the 2 months prior to the episodes?  ANY type on antibiotic, etc?  Your body is going to be sensitive to any new med for a long time.  It could be it was brought on by a chemical reaction to another med, even something over the counter like a decongestant.

No , it was literally out of the blue.

What is worrying, is has been as bad as early on ,it feels harder this time because I've been good for a while.

Now I've got to do it again.

The only thing I can maybe think of, is i finished tapering propranolol one month earlier, but had no symptoms while I was tapering.

Plus, I was only on 40 mg a day, and I tapered just over10% per month with no problems.

I'm kinda fed up of looking for answers, just wondering if anyone has ever felt this bad after such a good window.

P s  how are you colonial, are you doing better than last time we spoke.

Well, I think that could be your answer, the end of the proponol.  I didn't have ANY xanax WD symptoms until 3 weeks after the last dose.   Some of these meds can give a delayed reaction.  I have WD symptoms up to 10 weeks out after wellbutrin drops.  The thing is, once your nervous system has bottomed out, I notice that ANY one drug tampering can induce any set of symptoms, even if they were not ones you originally had with that drug.  Like when I drop the xanax, I get the brain zaps back again, with is from the SSRI'S.   Or if I drop the paxil I can get a xanax syptom. It's a sign that these drugs all interact in your brain together and even though you might have been feeling better, your system hasn't truly really recovered just yet, or ever, depending on how bad the initial shock was.  I would fully suspect that once you take a final dose of anything, regardless of how long you tapered, a regardless how low to what final dose you tapered, reaction like this is probable.  Even something as simple as my monthly cycle can induce symptoms from all 3 meds even though I haven't changed anything.  My brain is just too damaged to compensate for what the hormonal onslaught does for a week.

I've been doing the best I can... Made too many cuts in the Paxil in the spring and it bit me hard in July, (dropped in 70 days what I had been taking 120 to drop) so I stayed where I was for 3 months and just reduced it a week ago.  So far so good.  I have to be off the Wellbutrin, well, I get the last compound paid for end of the year, unless I want to go for a court date, but I'm down to 3.5 mg this month so my doc is just calling the scripts in every 21 days, even though he's giving me 30, so we can get 2 extra months worth before the end of the year.  More than one way to skin the insurance cat I guess.

But It's funny you posted what you did when you did, because I was just thinking to myself, once I take that last Wellbutrin dose in February to expect a smack down in March or April, sense no telling how I'm going to react once I'm completely off it.  1 percent of your original dose is doing more than you think.

I guess it would depend on the tapering time, too.  You did post you dropped the doses by about 10% but not  how long you held in between doses.  The over all taper might have been a bit too fast.  Let yourself get enough rest and stay hydrated with enough water!  Chronic dehydration makes our symptoms worse.

Had a few decent days , but now back to where I was before.

Last night was one of the worst night's for nearly two years.

Adrenaline rushes, and being jerked awake just as I'm dropping off.

I'm really beginning to think it won't end.

I don't know why ,but I'm definitely finding it harder this time.

I just can't accept it.
