Just saying hi.  It's been a while.  Lots of love.

*I'm not a doctor and don't give medical advice, just personal experience
**Off all meds since Nov. 2014. Mentally & emotionally recovered; physically not
-Dual cold turkeys off TCA & Ativan in Oct 2014. Prescribed from 2011-2014

-All meds were Rxed off-label for an autoimmune illness.  It was a MISDIAGNOSIS, but I did not find out until AFTER meds caused damage.  All med tapers/cold turkeys directed by doctors

-Nortriptyline May 2012 - Dec 2013. Cold turkey off nortrip & cold switched to desipramine

-Desipramine Jan 2014 - Oct. 29, 2014 (rapid taper/cold turkey)

-Lorazepam 1 mg per night during 2011
-Lorazepam 1 mg per month in 2012 (or less)

-Lorazepam on & off, Dec 2013 through Aug 2014. Didn't exceed 3x a week

-Lorazepam again in Oct. 2014 to help get off of desipramine. Last dose lzpam was 1 mg, Nov. 2, 2014. Immediate paradoxical reactions to benzos after stopping TCAs

-First muscle/dystonia side effects started on nortriptyline, but docs too stupid to figure it out. On desipramine, muscle tremors & rigidity worsened

-Two weeks after I got off all meds, I developed full-blown TD.  Tardive dystonia, dyskinesia, myoclonic jerks ALL over body, ribcage wiggles, facial tics, twitching tongue & fingers, tremors/twitches of arms, legs, cognitive impairment, throat muscles semi-paralyzed & unable to swallow solid food, brain zaps, ears ring, dizzy, everything looks too far away, insomnia, numbness & electric shocks everywhere when I try to fall asleep, jerk awake from sleep with big, gasping breaths, wake with terrors & tremors, severely depressed.  NO HISTORY OF DEPRESSION, EVER. Meds CREATED it.

-Month 7: hair falling out; no vision improvement; still tardive dystonia; facial & tongue tics returned
-Month 8: back to acute, incl. Grand Mal seizure-like episodes. New mental torment, PGAD, worse insomnia
-Month 9: tardive dystonia worse, dyskinesia returned. Unable to breathe well due to dystonia in stomach, chest, throat
-Month 13: Back to acute, brain zaps back, developed eczema & stomach problems. Left leg no longer works right due to dystonia, meaning both legs now damaged
-7 years off: Huge improvements, incl. improved dystonia

Hi btdt, just saying hello - sounds like our stories have a similarity, going through this twice, having our doctors make it all worse by ineptitude -

Hi again, I read through a lot of your thread, spent about 20 minutes reading through it which means I probably got to about 1% of it.... LOL....

I see that our stories actually are very different - I am very healthy overall, it is just this present WD that I'm struggling with...I have to manage chronic post-prandial hypoglycemia, and some heart issues, but nothing close to the cards you have been dealt -

You have created a great body of work with all your posts here on SA.....you are an example to all of us of the power of human will to try to overcome overwhelming challenges - you stand as an example to follow -

I hope you are able to squeeze periods of enjoyment and peace out of the difficult hand you have been dealt.

Of course I have nothing to say that can ease the path you tread. Other than, I am glad to meet you -

There really isn't much to say is there... really at the end of the day.  I wonder sometimes what I find to say on here hour after hour...something I guess as I am here a lot most of the time.

Glad to meet you too.

peace

Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Thanks Muddles and Wigglet

I have been spending my time researching things.

I started back on the old probiotic again today still think it increases pain in my body.  I found some research on probiotics that said some types increase symptoms once a person has colitis as my doc said I had this after the last antibiotic based on symptoms I thought I would use that in my research today.

So if that is correct then this reaction to this old probiotic makes complete sense and I have found another that should be helpful.  I am looking around to see if I can find the one I think would be best.  If I can find it I will take it and report back on how I do... IF I can find it. A lot of what is online cannot be found where I live.

peace all

I have just read this posted somewhere else and thought you may find it interesting:

I spent several hours in the hyperbaric chamber today... For any of my Benzo/ pharma med damaged friends, I HIGHLY recommend this! I only wish I could do this every day... My head feels clearer, and I actually have some energy and a much improved mood, and my body is hurting much less...It helps to heal the brain damage...

Here is a you tube link to explain what this therapy is and what it does:

2008 - Doctors appointment with stress induced anxiety led to Citalopram prescription.

Severe adverse reaction

Mirtazapine prescribed - adverse reaction but told to stay on.

Poop out - December 2013

15mg

Currently on 13.5mg,

April 12mg

May 10th - 11mg

June 10th - 10mg

July 8th - 9mg

September - 0mg

Kids with head injuries can have astounding recovery or none at all.  I am not sure how much the oxygen chamber had to do with this and it did not say much... I happy if your happy.  It has been mentioned before years ago on pp... and one person put this link up as a result of another thinking of trying it.  Maybe I should not post it but information and honesty is suppose to be what this is all about so feel I must... even if this turns out to be the cure for you ...what do I know I need to put this out there as this is the reason a lot of other people did not try it. ... that and I think the machines are rare...

The fans of Vancouver began to call the Canucks "TEAM SCHIZOPHRENIC". The Canucks were playing poor at home and great on the road. I contacted Pat Quinn by fax again previous to the playoffs to warn him again. He chose to ignore my advice again. I talked to one of the Canuck players just as the playoffs were starting. He confirmed most of the team was using the hyperbaric tank to increase their play. Word that this news leaked to me must have gone back to management. At this point management gave the doctors and players permission to speak to the media about how the system worked. (The plan was to bury any controversy before it was started).

Why did the Canucks do so well in the playoffs? First, the playoffs took them away from the hyperbaric chamber for extended periods. Second, the brain under environmental stress from increased positive ions or lack of ions produces hormones and chemicals to deal with this stress. The two main hormones released are melotonin and serotonin. Serotonin is increased and fed into the blood stream. The increased serotonin triggers the release of adrenaline which allows the body to work through the stress. Adrenaline is not quickly renewed as are other chemicals in your body. If a body produces to much serotonin for long duration's, the adrenaline gets used up and the chemical system in the body is unbalanced. This is what was happening with these players. A list of side effects from increasing the serotonin levels in your body for a long period of time are as follows:

Anxiety, nervousness, tremors, sweating, dizziness, lightheadedness, dry mouth, upset or irritated stomach, appetite loss, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach gas, rash and itching.

Less common side effects include changes in sex drive, impotence, abnormal dreams, difficulty concentrating, acne, hair loss, dry skin, chest pains, allergy, runny nose, bronchitis, abnormal heart rhythms, bleeding, blood pressure changes, headaches, fainting when rising suddenly from a sitting position, bone pain, bursitis, twitching, breast pain, fibrocystic disease of the breast, cystitis, urinary pain, double vision, eye or ear pain, conjunctivitis, anemia, swelling, low blood sugar, and low thyroid activity.

In addition, many other side effects affecting virtually every body system have been reported. They are too numerous to mention.

All side effects mentioned are also experienced from the pill Fluoxetine Hydrochloride (PROZAC). Prozac is an antidepressant drug and works on increasing serotonin levels in the body. It is the natural cortisone levels in the body that are triggered by the serotonin. This added adrenaline gives the personality a boost. Long term studies on Prozac and other antidepressants that work on increasing serotonin are finding most patients on these drugs are worse off after treatment than before treatment. The Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.) has never in their history had as many problems with a drug as they have had with these forms of antidepressants.

Side effects from positive ions winds (such as the Chinook wind in Calgary and the Santa Ana winds in southern California) compiled by a Swiss meteorological report in 1974 are as follows:

Physical side effects: Body pains, sick headaches, dizziness, twitching of the eyes, nausea, fatigue, faintness, disorders in saline (salt) budget with fluctuations in electrolytical metabolism (calcium and magnesium; critical for alcoholics), water accumulation, respiratory difficulties, allergies, asthma, heart and circulatory disorders (heart attacks approx. 50% higher) low blood pressure, slowing down in reaction time, more sensitivity to pain, inflammations, bleeding embolisms of the lungs, and thrombosis.

Psychological side effects: Emotional unbalance, irritation, vital disinclination, compulsion to meditate, exhaustion, apathy, disinclination or listlessness toward work (poor school achievement), insecurity, anxiety, depression (especially after age forty to fifty); rate of attempted suicide about 20% higher, larger number of admittance's to clinics in drug cases.

In over 90 years since ions were discovered, no side effects have ever been found from negative ions.

The side effects from Prozac are similar to the side effects from positive ions. That is because positive ions or lack of ions, increase serotonin levels in the body the same as prozac does. Increased serotonin has recently been associated with many forms of cancer.

It is interesting to note that high carbohydrate meals or high protein meals also increase serotonin in the body. The Pittsburgh Penguins training staff have been using protein drinks and carbohydrate drinks known by their brand names of Plex and Blast for a number of years now. How much has this affected Mario Lemieux's health? Could it have caused his recent health problems? During the recent lock-out Mario Lemieux has said he is feeling better than he has in years. His serotonin levels have returned to normal without these carbohydrate and protein supplements.

The Toronto Blue Jays also use Plex and Blast. Before the Baseball strike Toronto a two time world series champion in 1992 and 1993 was trailing most of the league in 1994. A person reliant on serotonin will at first experience a high for a few years followed by a low that is virtually impossible to get out of. Adrenaline does not renew itself in days, it takes months or even years.

The hyperbaric chamber of the Vancouver Canucks is even more damaging than Plex and Blast. There are no ions in the chamber nor are any being breathed in with the oxygen mask. What proof do we have that the team was affected by this Hyperbaric chamber other than a few symptoms reported by a few players. Let the 1993 - 1994 stats speak for themselves:

Vancouver Canucks 1993/94 POWER PLAY RECORD

Home Power Play Record 24th out of 26 teams
Road Power Play Record 1st out of 26 teams

How many teams have ever finished with the number one power play on the road, and one of the worst at home.

Wait a minute... Maybe I am reading incorrectly, but does all the bold info above talk about side effects of the hyperbaric chamber? 'Cause if those are aide effects of using it, then it sounds as bad as pills.

It's also possible I am misunderstanding.

I was taking my old probiotic for 6 days it seems to have worked ok.  I have decided to try a different one as I liked the research and still have pain.  I am hoping for good things but keeping a close eye.  This is a post I put on Petu's page but works as an update since I am lazy it is copied...

I know what you mean about the fluctuations that come with wd making it tricky to tell if something is helping or hurting.  I started a probiotic today a new one I have been looking at.  The stats on it say it should make a difference in 12 days did you the bimuno have any timeline?  This one I started says on the package it should show results in 3-4 days.  I already feel different after one dose.. is me is it nothing I can't say yet.  I have had more pain in the areas of my gut that I have had pain previously been tired maybe a bit more sad but I have a lot of reasons to be sad... it could be all just catching up with me.  Definitely more low key not as much energy that also bring with it slower thinking patterns bit dense... but not completely stupid as I have had in the recent past. Just too soon to tell but for me I have to keep a keen eye as I do react hard to things other find benign.. so keeping a close eye.  Today for instance I am not going to get thru the usual reading I do on here as I don't have the energy... and I am going to bed at least an hour earlier. Add headache but I have them too... so I can't tell yet.

Btdt, I saw your post in my thread. I've seen that you've posted about agnosia a few times... It does sound scary and I may be wrong, but sounds like the idea of it has kind of freaked you out. If I'm wrong I'm sorry. If I'm not I hope I can ease your mind a little...

Agnosias are pretty rare. They're basically the brain's inability to interpret or process sensory information. It doesn't apply to things like not realizing your manic. It's neurological, not psychological. The reason people don't realize there's something wrong is because the information isn't available to them. They may not be able to recognize, say, a phone, because their brain only process one part of it or can't process each part at the same time. They don't recognize its a phone because it doesn't look like a phone to them or how they remember a phone looking.

Read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, by Oliver Sacks, MD. It's a good, entertaining book with good examples of different Agnosias.

1988-2012: Prozac @ 60mg (with a few stops and starts)

I am not freaked out it explains a lot of things and I don't think your correct in your opinion.  I don't think Breggin agrees with your either.  I have put some links up to what he does think and have read some about it... while I am sure there is a man who thinks his wife is a hat... I have worked with a lot of disabled kids and some adults I have seen some things tricky to explain.  Some as odd and on thinking their wife is a hat... no not really but I don't doubt it as with many disorders and syndromes of which there are so many few people working with the varied populations have a handle on all of them and learn as they go or that is how we did it where I worked. People vary just as we all vary in health we all vary in illness too... sometimes in extreme ways I did hands on practical work learned from those who had the disorders more than from books.

To me agnosia in the way I understand it so far explains a lot fills in many holes and I trust Breggin to know his stuff he has been doing this a long time.

Add headache but I have them too... so I can't tell yet.

Day 2

I had to go to bed today after taking my few drops.  Irritable would be a good word for how I feel after I take it then sleep could be the escape as I know it only lasts a couple of hours then fades as the night goes on.  I don't think as I have become accustom to.. not sure if that is good or bad yet... headache again today much worse after the drops not pain pills to treat it today as I went to sleep it lingered after I woke.

One odd thing not sure if or how this fits:

I have not been able to visualize much of anything for a very long time... even the faces of people I love... today when I was going to sleep or waking I can't recall which now... I had a very brief glimpse of my mothers face... I tried like hell to see it again but couldn't.  This is a big deal to me.

Gut wise I have had the same pains I have had before but they seem to be more intense and closer together.  Toilet issues may be a bit improved hard to say just yet. I think I am eating more and not feeling as upset and nauseous after I eat.

This still is not enough for me to say this is a good thing to take just bits and bites not even sure I actually feel better as the thinking while more level never gets to the decent thought level I can sometimes reach in my new normal idiot savant life... where I go from idiot to brilliant in my own mind...now it is dull minded all the time except right after I take it... thinking fails and jumps around with no clarity a bit like bad anxiety some heart involvement with that too ...going fast and shallow .. that is how it feels.  I have already thought of quitting it as I don't like the reaction after taking it... feels like that old Ad rule keep taking it till it makes you so stupid and damaged you can't figure out the drug is your problem I don't want to fall in that hole again...

We will see if there is a day 3 or not.

Study on chicks ...

http://ps.oxfordjournals.org/content/89/9/1934.short

"study was designed to investigate some of the biological markers of HS in broilers as modulated by dietary supplementation of mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS) and a Lactobacillus-based probiotic (LBP), either alone or in combination. "

probiotic effect on  cortisol, thyroid hormones, cholesterol, C-reactive protein,

. Results revealed that dietary supplementations decreased (P < 0.05) the serum cortisol and cholesterol concentrations and increased (P < 0.05) thyroxine concentration compared with the HS group without affecting triiodothyronine concentration. The percentage of the C-reactive protein-positive birds was higher (P < 0.05) in the HS group compared with the TN group."

These chick were also fed mannan-oligosaccharide ... some had this food addictive some had only the probiotic they did not break the results down in the results so we should not assume the effects are probiotic only

"When oligosaccharides are consumed, the undigested portion serves as food for the intestinal microflora. Depending on the type of oligosaccharide, different bacterial groups are stimulated or suppressed.[6][7]

Clinical studies have shown that administering FOS, GOS, or inulin can increase the number of these beneficialbacteria in the colon while simultaneously reducing the population of harmful bacteria: wiki page

interesting note one of these MOS

Sialyl-Lewisx Oligosaccharide

most abundant carbohydrate receptor present in the outer coating (zona pellucida (ZP)) of the human ova, and is implicated as a large factor of Sperm-ZP binding leading to fertilization. These Sialyl-Lewisx branches are much more common on the ovum than on any other kind of body cell; they completely coat it.""

Hello, dear. I am in no cognitive shape to respond to specifics, but want you to know I am reading and following.

Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). This hormone is made in the pituitary gland in the brain. It is released into the bloodstream. It stimulates the thyroid gland to make thyroxine. If the level of thyroxine in the blood is high, then the pituitary releases less TSH. Therefore, a low level of TSH means that your thyroid gland is overactive and is making too much thyroxine

I am sorry I misinterpreted your interest in agnosias. Perhaps I was projecting my own tendencies. And since I haven't read Breggins work, my interpretation may indeed be incongruent with what he states. I'm glad the information Breggin provides answers To some of your questions.

A very good question. It has to start with harmed patients. No one else has the motivation. Drug companies and FDA are not on our side. If they were we would have settlements by now, and the drugs would be gone. We are collateral damage, as long as other patients keep saying the ADs saved their lives.

2009: Cancer hospital said I had adjustment disorder because I thought they were doing it wrong. Their headshrinker prescribed Effexor, and my life set on a new course. I didn't know what was ahead, like a passenger on Disneyland's Matterhorn, smiling and waving as it climbs...clink, clink, clink.

2010: Post surgical accidental Effexor discontinuation by nurses, masked by intravenous Dilaudid. (The car is balanced at the top of the track.) I get home, pop a Vicodin, and ...

Whooosh...down, down, down, down, down...goes the trajectory of my life, up goes my mood and tendency to think everything is a good idea.
2012: After the bipolar jig was up, now a walking bag of unrelated symptoms, I went crazy on Daytrana (the Ritalin skin patch by Noven), because ADHD was a perfect fit for a bag of unrelated symptoms. I was prescribed Effexor for the nervousness of it, and things got neurological. An EEG showed enough activity to warrant an epilepsy diagnosis rather than non-epileptic ("psychogenic") seizures.

:o 2013-2014: Quit everything and got worse. I probably went through DAWS: dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome. I drank to not feel, but I felt a lot: dread, fear, regret, grief: an utter sense of total loss of everything worth breathing about, for almost two years.

I was not suicidal but I wanted to be dead, at least dead to the experience of my own brain and body.

2015: I  began to recover after adding virgin coconut oil and organic grass-fed fed butter to a cup of instant coffee in the morning.

I did it hoping for mental acuity and better memory. After ten days of that, I was much better, mood-wise. Approximately neutral.

And, I experienced drowsiness. I could sleep. Not exactly happy, I did 30 days on Wellbutrin, because it had done me no harm in the past.

I don't have the DAWS mood or state of mind. It never feel like doing anything if it means standing up.

In fact, I don't especially like moving. I'm a brain with a beanbag body.

Saving lives? I bet they are killing more than what they are saving.

My friend has been on an SSRI for years...she swears by them. I can see how they are effecting her and yet she doesn't....you don't whilst you are on them...Breggin calls it spell binding. When I first met her she was a very intelligent, polite lady who would do anything for anyone. In a very good marriage etc. The past two years major change - left her husband because he got depressed for a while...there was no compassion there what-so-ever, I never even saw her cry over the divorce. Then came the heavy drinking, going out...chasing and sleeping with men half of her age. She swears all of the time, lost interest in her son...shouts at him all of the time.

It's so tragic that I am seeing this happening right before my eyes. She upped her dose last year after getting irritable and depressed. I have warned her about tolerance/poop-out and how dangerous these drugs are. She does not listen and she thinks she cannot be without them. This lady is not who she is supposed to be and she doesn't even realise, just like I didn't. It doesn't matter how much I preach - it doesn't get through. If friends don't believe then we have no hope with doctors.

Unfortunately we are going to see this for years and years to come. Drugs taken off he market and newer 'safer' (yeah right) ones out in place. I doubt we will ever be able to make a difference - it's falling on deaf ears.

2008 - Doctors appointment with stress induced anxiety led to Citalopram prescription.

Day #3

I cut the dose just took it now.  Was reading about something called the Herx reaction... if the L. Rueteri is killing some thing off as it dies it releases toxins that cause symptoms.  Possible I guess to treat it sweating... to detox .. pectin to trap it lots of water and lemon.  So today 70-80% of dose water with lemon and apple sauce.. ( a doc who cured me once before had me take apple sauce with 3 cap of probiotic 3x a day for a month maybe she was using the pectin to carry the die off away... it worked then so trying it. )

Other symptoms as yesterday went on.  Very hungry something I am not usually needing food even woke in the night and had a snack went right back to sleep just needed food.

I had loud strong gurgling in the night and once feeling in my gut like an I was riding in a elevator that just dropped a bit.  Odd feeling in the right side of my throat like a spasm or it was turning inside out or something... that I did not like. Mean... I am after I take this just take no bs better be on point with me ... I don't like it but feel reserves are lacking...patients lacking.  Bit of wild thoughts after I take it I don't like that either or the headaches.

On the up side bath room no longer hurts... my gut... tho it hurts other times it has for awhile now.. with the occassional drop to knees pain.  Who know I still have a stomach specialist booked so we will see... when the apt eventually gets here... maybe I won't need him... hoping but I will go anyway and report all this.

One other way I have read to treat herx is activated charcoal... not sure about that or if that is even what is going on with me.

So it is about time for the symptoms to kick in if it is going to happy like the last two days... so I will prepare myself for the fallout

Thanks all for posting I will talk to you after this passes the worst is usually over in a few hours.

peace

A cheat sheet

  • Probiotics to boost your Neurotransmitters: Cheat Sheet

    http://psychologist.co/probiotics-to-boost-your-neurotransmitters-cheat-sheet/

Lactobacillus helveticus & Bifidobacterium longum: found to reduce cortisol levels, a hormone that is frequently elevated in those who suffer from depression

Lactobacillus rhamnosus: increase the production of GABA, the neurotransmitter responsible for calming our nervous system and reducing anxiety and mental ruminations often seen with depression and OCD
Bifidobacterium infantis: a microbe capable of producing serotonin, much like Prozac
Lactobacillus acidophilus: improves functioning of cannabinoid receptors in the spinal cord, the receptors critical to regulating pain
Bacteriodes fragilis: Known to bolster the immune system, this was the microbe used in the study mentioned above that reduced the neurological patterns of autism-like behavior (California Institute of Technology)
Bifidobacterium infantis & Lactobacillus reuteri: these guys attack inflammation, a hallmark of depression and autoimmune responses, and also influence the appetite by sending “I’m full” signals to the brain. L. reuteri also stimulates oxytocin, the hormone responsible for our safe and social feelings when we are with loved ones.

Oxytocin... is sadly affected by ssri causing a lot of marriages to fail and for people to feel disconnected from those they love lack of oxytocin means lack of attachment... basically... so I am posting this new stuff I found about how this proboitic l reuteri affects oxytocin... as few things we can lay our hands on do affect it... child birth ... does breast feeding... sex... ssri...

Posted 21 February 2015 - 05:10 PM

Interest in Lactobacillus reuteri grew after research confirmed that changing aspects of the digestive system can influence the immune system. A strain of Lactobacillus reuteri called ATCC PTA 6475 has been found to improve levels of testosterone and oxytocin, as well as skin quality in animal studies. Research on animals has also found potential benefits for hair quality, bone mass and preventing weight gain from obesity-causing diets.

9.2. Oxytocin

Ingestion of L. reuteri ATCC 6475 in rats has been noted to increase social grooming as well as serum oxytocin,[10] both of which are linked in many species.[90] Due to the ability of IL-10 to influence hypothalamic function where oxytocin is produced,[91][92] it has been hypothesized that oxytocin mediates the interaction between the gut and skin.[93]

remember my Vit D troubles hmmm

15.1. Vitamin D

Serum Vitamin D has been noted to increase when 2.9x109 CFU of the strain of L. reuteri known as NCIMB 30242 was consumed twice daily over the course of 13 weeks by hypercholesterolemic adults.[21] Over the course of this trial, there was a slight decrease in vitamin D levels noted in the placebo arm, while there was a 25.5% increase noted with NCIMB 30242, increasing serum 25-dihydroxyvitamin D from 67.91nM to 82.64nM with no influence on other measured vitamins in serum (β-carotene or Vitamin E).[21]

I want to write this even tho it may be premature... or I am not sure what to call it yet...

I can feel my woman parts... does that sound stupid? I am not sure if I am the only one who could not feel them... but well it never dawned on me I could not feel them till I could feel them... and only briefly...

I was completely numb a long long time years... after ct...

then it gradually went away

I never would have thought I was still not feeling myself on the inside until I felt myself on the inside...

It is quite odd.

I don't want to get any hopes up or say this probiotic is going to maybe help heal some woman...

I know how all our minds jump to hopeful happily ever after but it is a downer to go there only to be drowned in pails of cold water... so don't do it but there is something... it came it went it was a feeling I use to know that has been missing a decade...

maybe nothing but the memory of an phantom... part.

peace all

I have had low Vit D at least a few years first found out when I broke my foot in 2010 first time they ever tested my Vit D level.

I react when I try to take it badly and no reason can be found I am told to take more D3 I say anxiety and insomnia is terrible after three days of 400mg and gets worse the longer I take it.  I have been tested by a endochronologist resulting in my complaints being ignored and her saying take more then 400mg a day.. so she kept saying take more I kept saying I can't... and we agreed to ignore each other.  That is how it was left... I have tried other things gradually taking low low baby size doses... changing brands types ect ect ect.. none of it worked.

I found this today and I don't know that it has anything to do with my vit d issues... but I want to keep it on file and look closer at it later... and have it as resource for others who may be like me... tho I don't know any yet.

Oral supplementation with probiotic L. reuteri NCIMB 30242 increases mean circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D: a post hoc analysis of a randomized controlled trial.
Abstract
CONTEXT:

Low serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D is a risk factor for osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. Disruption of noncholesterol sterol absorption due to cholesterol-lowering therapies may result in reduced fat-soluble vitamin absorption.

OBJECTIVE:

We have previously reported on the cholesterol-lowering efficacy and reduced sterol absorption of probiotic bile salt hydrolase active Lactobacillus reuteri NCIMB 30242; however, the effects on fat-soluble vitamins was previously unknown and the objective of the present study. DESIGN, SETTINGS, PATIENTS, AND INTERVENTION: The study was double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, parallel-arm, multicenter lasting 13 weeks. A total of 127 otherwise healthy hypercholesterolemic adults with low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol >3.4 mmol/L, triglycerides <4.0 mmol/L, and body mass index of 22 to 32 kg/m² were included. Subjects were recruited from 6 private practices in Prague, Czech Republic, and randomized to consume L. reuteri NCIMB 30242 or placebo capsules over a 9-week intervention period.

OUTCOME MEASURES:

The primary outcome measure was the change in serum low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol over the 9-week intervention. Analysis of fat-soluble vitamins at weeks 0 and 9 were performed post hoc.

RESULTS:

There were no significant differences between L. reuteri NCIMB 30242 and placebo capsule groups in serum vitamin A, vitamin E, or β-carotene or dietary intake over the intervention period (P > .05). L. reuteri NCIMB 30242 increased serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D by 14.9 nmol/L, or 25.5%, over the intervention period, which was a significant mean change relative to placebo of 17.1 nmol/L, or 22.4%, respectively (P = .003).

CONCLUSIONS:

To our knowledge, this is the first report of increased circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D in response to oral probiotic supplementation.

NOTE:

 L. reuteri NCIMB 30242

Is NOT the strain of L.reuteri I am taking now.

A chronic sinus and lung thing I have grown accustom to is changing better or worse hard to say yet. I have had bouts of coughing where there really was something to cough out.. and mucus and blood from nasal passages. I know not nice and thanks for sharing... and all that but if it is fixing something fine if not I am getting something I just can't say as I am in the swamp yet.

Hi btdt. Thanks for posting all the stuff about probiotics. Have you read about prebiotics?

No I have not read about them just one to take when taking antibiotics.  I found a link to it on the kesler site which was linked to a thread here about probiotics... do you know about them or use them?

I have learned the probiotic I am taking has some effect on the sert 4... something or other and am not feeling good about taking it any more.  I am thinking I will stop taking it now.  I do think it helped my breathing and a lot of stuff came out of my head congestion and blood mostly. My throat feels odd like there is more in there to come out behind the skin.. of my throat it is very dry and hurts especially in the morning fine by night.  Lymph nodes around my neck throat and abdomen are popping up... not sure.  I am going to stop it for now.

peace

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations.

I had the throat thing you mention with this virus. It hurt awful in the morning, then gone by night. Rinse repeat like that for about a week...

JD it is an odd sort of thing... i had a yeast issue in my throat a couple years ago it reminds of that a bit but not really as it is not breaking the skin ... it is under the skin but I can see how the throat tissues are distored not the normal shape or size no redness ... it is something in the tissue or behind it. It is has been coming out since I have been on this probiotic our my nose too but mostly from above my pallet that has been an issue for years and all sorts of stuff released up there and came out... I think on the 4th day of taking the stuff.

I can't believe how sick taking it made me... so ill I was glad I always passed out an hour or so after taking it as I could not stand much more of it and some head issues came with it ... really really Bchy.... really severely... but it passed a few hours after getting up and the next day would go thru it all agaiin... feel like crap... sleep wake feeling horrid... around and around.

I do feel it is helping but I am curious what happens when I don't take it too... will keep you posted.

peace
