Hi Rain, thinking of you ❤. I hope you get a window soon. I feel best when in doubt with Lexapro is to HOLD & STABILISE to leave the brain and nervous system repair & catch up xxx. Lexapro is such a powerful drug.I am only tapering from this one drug. How do individual's manage with other drugs also!!! I will be holding for many months ....the alternative for me I am afraid could be a nervous breakdown...increased psychiatric medication....loss of a job. .. this is not an option.you have to be sensible, responsible & realistic. We need to survive & keep living enjoying & participating in life. My emotional distress have taken many years of my life I will not allow it take any more. Therefore, we have to informed and practical.I know your going through he'll bud and I just want you to know YOU ARE NOT ALONE xx

Thank you soooooo much Rose, I am happy to hear you are stabilized on your holding. I found I got worse if I keep holding on one dose, which really really made me despair, I am so clueless what is going on with me and what I should do.

The only thing I can do is be brave and keep trying to reduce my dose to experiment. But things are not always going smooth, but we need to be brave, keep faith.

I hope you will reduce your dosage soon and no much pain for you.

It is a hard journey but I believe we all can make it through.

Hugs

Hi Rose, I am so so today, heart feeling not well after taking meds again, but not too bad...

Thank you Rose for your encouragement. We are together to fight this evil drug. What dosage you currently taking? 16mg? What symptoms you usually having?

I usually take a walk to distract myself and also some deep breath method. If I feel hopeless, I try to ring my mum or friend for help or just chat with them. I also sometimes playing games with my landlord or just playing, watching phone myself.

If symptoms not intense, I went out to drive uber, that's a big distracting for me because I can focus on the road and chatting with passengers. Also the good thing is I can make some money for my life.

Hey Rose, It is so nice to hear that you had a window today! I am happy to hear about that!

Having a window is all we need! When having a window, our life are coming back. I hope my window will come back soon, too. I am dreaming about I can drive uber, do service for my car, go out with my friends, play games with landlord...

Good work you can down to 15mg now! I am down to 7.4mg now, I did a bit too fast taper due to unbearable reverse reactions... My poor brain is still adjusting the rapid dosage change.

Some updates:

I am now down to 6.9mg due to reactions to the meds. It has been 3 days since I did that, yesterday was a good window, but by the night time, symptoms hit me badly again, It is really still confusing me. Because yesterday I took the meds nothing happened, no reactions at all, but today, reactions severe again right after 30mins! My god!

What I am going through now? Both WD and reactions? What can I do now? Holding for unbearable meds reactions for a while?

Went to Melbourne Hospital for emergency last night due heart palp again to 125bpm.

The doctor over there just think I am a psycho, because I am taking such a dose they never heard and one doctor said If I don't like Lexapro just stop it, no one forced me to take it, and suggests me to see mental clinic for my psycho...

Never go there anymore, so despair and hopeless.

I'm very sorry the reaction keeps catching up even with the faster dose reduction.

Do you have WD symptoms the same time with reaction symptoms or they alternate in days or hours? What WD symptoms do you have now?

I found Lexapro is the most crazy drug, mysterious in its behavior when we stuck in between WD and reaction. I myself is lost these days clueless with my alternate symptoms one day WD and the next reaction even I hold dose. Its not making sense regardless how hard I think.

Reaction is the most torturous for me, I used to have a way to control the reaction by reducing dose, until got to the current low dose when WD is completely disabling. If not for the job I'm still trying so hard to keep, I think I would choose WD over reaction.

Will PM you just now.

Rain, the best way to discern non-therapeutic effects (the adverse ones or "side-effects") from withdrawal symptoms is to keep a diary of symptoms. Please keep notes on paper of your symptoms and the times of your dose(s). This post has a useful format for a daily log:

Take notes of doses and symptoms.

You can post your notes every day for 3-5 days here in your intro, or you can post 3-5 days' notes all at once. Sometimes you'll patterns in relation to the time you take meds or supplements. Give a try and let us 'ave a squizz.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Sorry I was really sick to do this, but I just write some brief here.

I am now having very weird pattern, one day less, one day very severe.

Today I hit by very bad nausea in the morning, very fast heart palps. then anxiety, akathisia and restless, sweating after. After taking the med, I feel a bit better but not too better. At night time, symptom come up again, lots of bad dark thoughts come out, weird feeling in the stomach...

I am guessing, my WD symptom is getting worse, since I dropped too much, recent 3 days I feel reactions are bit better, not last longer. Will it keep getting worse? Will it get better if I keep hold?

My current symptoms are extreme anxiety, Still heart palp but seems not from meds now, panic attack in the morning, extremely nausea feeling, restless wanting to walk, weak legs.

Sorry I feel very weak to type the daily notes, but one obvious thing I am experiencing now is: After taking Lexapro, I found symptoms will lessened for a while. And I don't really feel drug reactions too much, only tingling hands sometimes. And recent 3 days, the meds reactions diminished very quick and then severe WD came up instead. Today my nausea and heart palp is worsening, same after taking med, they loose power a bit.

Recently my symptoms are still severe, i went to doctors, one of the doctor wants me to bridge to Cymbalta and stop the lexapro, any idea with that? It might be a difficult way to go...

I also experienced couple panic attacks in one week, which were nightmares... Insomnia, stomach nausea was horrible too.

Rain I'm no expert on tapering but I'm not sure what favours it's going to do you to discontinue one drug suddenly and add a new one into the mix. As unpleasant as your symptoms are, you may end up making them much worse by tampering. Can you sooth yourself another way until this difficult time passes? Are there supplements that might work for you?

2010: Adverse reaction to citalopram/suicidal.

2010-2014: Venlafaxine doses 75-150-300. Began to cause heart palpitations.

2014: Adverse side effects from Sertraline

2014: Adverse reaction to Mirtazipine/suicidal. CT withdrawal.

2014: Accute adverse reaction to one prozac pill. Body & brain went on fire. Full WD

2015: Half dose of Lorazepam restarted all the WD symptoms.

2017: Bad reaction to stopping propranolol beta blockers. Violent shaking WD again.
2023: Severe adrenaline surges triggered by low frequency sound/vibration next door. Heart rate going dangerously high so now 25mg atenolol.

Current Supplements: Omega 3 & Vitamin C, magnesium.
Current other medications: Metformin (type ii diabetic), Lymecycline (for rosacea), Atenolol 25mg.

Im sorry to hear that, Rain. What is your worst symptoms right now?

Im thinking the same as Aprilshowers, that introducing a new med to an already stressed CNS is a huge risk to take at the moment. Is your doctor experienced with SSRIs?

Panic attacks are no fun, but they wont hurt you. Are you able to sleep?

Stay strong and try to be calm.

Hugs!

<p>Sept 2015: 5 mg Cipralex for 3 weeks. Lots of side effects. Reduced to 2.5 mg for 2 weeks. Experiencing withdrawal and side effects still after dose reduction. Quit after almost 4 weeks on 2.5 mg because of adverse effects. Experiencing withdrawal symptoms still. Reinstating 1mg after 3 weeks. Reduced to 0.50 after 2 days due to sensitive reaction (dysautonomia) and trip to ER. January 2016: After 14 months of tapering from 0.5 mg im now down to 0.08mg. Planing on one more drop before 4-8 weeks healing, then jump to zero. 14.03.17: Lexapro free!

Im sorry that i dont have an good answer for you, Rain. Just remember that the anxiety will pass with time and it is not dangerous.

Do you have periods in between attacks and you then feel better or have less panic/anxiety?

Hi there,

Thanks for your encouraging!

Yes I do have, like today, a bit better day, but tomorrow or maybe the day after tomorrow would be a very hard day for me. Is this called wave? I can't remember I had these patterns of waves before...

So now the waves are like one day awful then one day bit better...

Thats good, Rain! The pattern you are describing is typical for WD, and it is a sign you are healing. Panic attacks tend to come in episodes. It is unpleasent, but it cant hurt you. Stay calm and wait it out. The activation from anxety will always pass.

You just need to accept this pattern for now. It will prob last a while, but you will get better when you have stabilized further!

Hope you feel better soon.

My reverse reaction starts again on me, it is really really hard for me to go with Lexapro, I am so desperated and I am thinking of swithcing med.

Doc prescribed me some Cymbalta, and wants me to CT Lexapro then take Cymbalta.

I am scared of doing this, but if not, it seems I have no way to go...

I have couple questions about switching:

1. If I stop Lexapro and take Cymbalta, is that mean I am CT Lexapro? Or Cymbalta will take part of the place of the Lexapro in my brain?

2. If I want to start Cymbalta, what dosage equivalant to my current Lexapro? I am now taking 6.8mg of Lexapro.

3. If things went opposite, Cymbalta doesn't help me but gave me lots of adverse reactions, what is the best way to do? Reinstate Lexapro? Or stop all the antidepressants?

4.Is there any other concerning if I switch the meds?

Many many thanks

Rain, I am so sorry you are still struggling so bad.

when we are going thru a rough time, it's hard to remember that things were better before, and that we had some better days.

on the 15th you wrote:

I really think if you can find a way to ride out this wave, you'll start to feel better again soon-ish.

I know it's very hard when you're feeling awful, to believe that, but it will happen.

often, things will actually be better after a  wave, as it means your brain is working on getting back to its pre-drugged "settings", that's what causes the symptoms.

is there something you can do to distract yourself? watch tv, read, listen to music, go for a walk, take an epsom salt bath?

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME PRIVATE MESSAGES, thank you.
