congratulations armorall ❤️❤️

i had to search google for the idiom: got my dancing shoes back on, but now i understand😂

i hope a wonderful coming life for you dear, dancing alot😂.

i wasn't on a certain drug all the period. i took many drugs many times and for no very long period but to simplify.

--fluvoxamine maleate100 mg + amisulpride 200mg------started july 2012 and total taper in february 2015 ( 9 months without drugs then)

--sertraline 100mg -------started november 2015 and total taper (withoud reduction slowly) in november 2016( 4 months withoud drugs then).

--sertraline 100mg + quetiabine 25mg ( started in mars 2016 and for 7 months) then fluvoxamine maleate 100mg again for another 7months and after that a something like to use every drug for 14 days and for about 1.5 years.

--my last drug was trintellix 10 mg ( used it in 12/2018and total taper in 4/2019).

symptomts i have now ( bad concentration and problems in short and long memory+ bad depersonalization).

@mustafa thank you! Yes, I definitely couldn't dance during withdrawal, so getting to finally do my favorite activity was something. But, you were right to search for the idiom as it is also figurative. I was sifting through my thread yesterday so I could make sure that I could properly thank people that helped support me. Thank you for all your past kind words, you're so kind to everyone. Much comfort and healing to you Mustafa ❤️

Amazing read :) Glad you are doing great! A lot of strength shown to get through the hell of AD withdrawal. Enjoy your future and the never ending improvements :)

I follow The Plant Paradox lifestyle by Dr.Gundry. This lifestyle has given me my life back and I feel better than I have ever felt in my life. It has enabled me to finally get off of this medication and truly live my life. Nutrition is the key to health!!!!!

2008 to 2019  - 20 mg Paroxetine

Attempted 2 CT's around the 5-6 year mark. Were absolutely terrible and reinstated. Was never explained by the doctor the seriousness of the short half life of this drug.

2017 - Attempted a tapered discontinuation of this drug and reinstated after being unsuccessful.

2019 - Feb. 12 - After a three month taper I am off of paroxetine. The 3 months were terrible, awful withdrawal feelings. I followed the doctors guidelines for the reduction of this drug and now know it was way too fast.
2019 - Oct. 12 - 8 months off paroxetine. 75% improvement since coming off the drug. Definitely have had tons of challenges along the way. Let’s go!!!!

2021 - Feb. 12 - 24 months off paroxetine. I have minor challenges now. Tinnitus/Headaches are still around but are reduced by a massive amount.

Congratulations! What a wonderful story.

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks.

Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988.  In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm.

5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014)

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!  Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to

2016 Dec 16 medication free!!

Longer signature post here, with current supplements.

Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016.  And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed.  Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022.  Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜

Hi @Moonpie I saw your writing in Shawny's thread and wanted to respond here so as not to take up her thread:
"Hi @Armorall.  I read your thread from beginning to end.  It brought to light the pressure and feeling the need to urinate when I lay down.  I thought it might be WD but seeing someone else's experience confirms it.  I have almost finished my 11th month off of Lexapro. January has been brutal especially sleep wise. Last night was so bad on all symptom levels that I fell into doubting I would be better and maybe this is something else. Something I haven't done a lot. Today isn't as bad but I am suffering and useless. Seeing you rounded the corner at 13 months gave me hope.  Everyone's journey and experience is different but I can hope that will be part of my story too."

Yes! 11 months is somewhat early in the withdrawal journey. Have you read the segment regarding how to use melatonin properly (assuming you've tried to use it at all)? I just sent it to someone else, so it is fresh on my mind. The higher the dosage, the more activating it can be for people. Anyways, the link is here:

But anyways, I'm glad you can look at my timeline and be inspired. I did that, too, with other people's stories and it really helped.  Please feel free to message me if you need to be reminded of your healing. Thank you for your acknowledgement and I wish good healing and comfort to you ❤️

Congratulations @Armorall  it’s so good to see your success story. I like your turning the corner analogy. I certainly remember the onslaught of symptoms and extreme fatigue being overwhelming in the early months and wondering if I would ever get better then starting to recognise patterns and see symptoms subside. That’s the turning point when we’re getting mentally in control.

enjoy your dancing!

Congratulations, @Armorall!!  So wonderful that you are now one of the Success Stories that so many people will discover, read and re-read, and look to for inspiration to 'keep on going on.'  Please continue to come back and let us know how you are doing. Some of us (Glo) are on a much longer trajectory to healing, unfortunately.  However, the positive updates regarding the fact that healing is still possible is crucial to stay on the long path.

@Phoenixmama no, I don't really want to take non-essential drugs if I can help it, so I didn't. My hair is thicker than it was in WD, but it's not back to what it was. I did go get a custom-made wig and also wear my hair chin length even though I'm definitely a long-hair person. The shorter hair makes it look thicker since I have wavy hair. I'm cool with wigs when I really want to dress up, lol. I used to wear them or extensions anyway.
I've always taught in schools where "bought hair" is regarded as your "real hair". It's not like that in dominant society where people are like, "OMG that's not your real hair?" But I learned to ignore it and do what I like, lol. I mean, it's kinda stupid anyway. People don't walk up to people who are wearing lipstick or eyeshadow and go "OMG that's not your real lip/lid color?" It's totally a thing because dominant culture generally doesn't need to wear wigs, but there are definitely different ethnic sets that do. Thinking it's disingenuous is kinda dumb considering that all the other accoutrements are also self-imposed and not natural- push up bras, corsets, fake eyelashes, any type of makeup, heels etc etc.

Got my two pre-ordered copies of "Medicating Normal" in the mail yesterday! One copy for me, one copy to loan out.

If you are healed or feeling good enough to do the work- what are you doing to build awareness around psychiatric drug injury and advocating for informed consent?
I'd love to hear from you. Having a copy or two of this film to loan out is one thing you can do. PBS will only keep the link to the free, shortened version until 5/31/22, so you will have to generate viewing on your own from that point on. Let's do it!

@Moonpie awesome, glad you can watch it! I wish I could loan out a copy of the DVD, but I'm only doing local loans right now. The longer version does describe more about what went into the actual industry (and psychiatry in general- namely how much research the DSM-V actually has to support its parameters) that makes ADs more viable, so it's worth the watch if it becomes possible for you in the future. At some point, I'll take more detailed notes on the movie and share those out for people who have only watched the shorter version. But the shorter version is good, too and I felt a sense of validation and exoneration from watching something that validates our experience, versus every other thing I've touched (friends, therapists, doctors) that deny the existence of injury from psychiatric drugs.

@Armorall I felt a sense of validation too. When you're going through it and especially when you're off of it and it keeps going on you begin to question yourself as others tell you it's not real. I was thrilled to watch any version lol. I will look forward to your comments on it.

Fantastic, Armorall, what an uplifting success story--thank you for writing it. I'm sure it will bring hope to many people who can't

see their way out of the dark tunnel that is withdrawal.

What a waste of precious life-energy these psych drugs impose. . .so glad you came out the other end!  Congratulations. . .thank you for sharing this!

Today I had the pleasure of sending this to two therapists that more or less denied my experience as drug injury/withdrawal every single time I saw them. Additionally, I also sent it to someone who was a student that was planning on becoming a therapist- my husband and I had a wonderful therapist that helped us repair our marriage while I was in withdrawal, so I had hoped to also have her for my own individual therapy. When that was not doable for obvious reasons, she said I could work with her intern that she supervises closely, so I thought I could get more of the same care. Nope! The intern kept telling me about how she knew I was hurting, but I could consider myself healed now (I basically just had to believe it). I laid into her about how she's not actually respecting my narrative if she thinks that, it's like telling a person who is in a wheelchair with a healing/not permanent injury that they should consider themselves healed the way they are.
The first therapist asserted that my brain chemistry had just changed, so when I went off the drugs, it just revealed the underlying condition that just happened to be more pronounced (I know y'all are familiar with this one). She also said that online forums were basically not credible and that her therapist colleague had a cross-stitch sign in her office that says "Don't confuse my degree with Google" or something like that. Ok, go ahead and watch Dopesick and you'll see how quick outside sources are to validate and teach "studies" that were actually just five sentences in a letter for a psychiatric journal! Go figure that one out.
The second was more questioning of the people in the online forums, saying she probably thought they just wanted attention.
So yeah, they all got some form of this. For all of you out there that also have/had therapists that don't believe in WD, please do the same! While a film is not the ultimate word on things, I feel like people find it more believable when faces are attached to the narrative, and certainly if PBS is willing to show it, that also gives it a different angle. Much love to everyone today who is still on their journey.
Hi ____________,

I wanted to send you the link to this movie that came out at the beginning of the year. In our time together, there seemed to be some confusion over whether or not online psychiatric drugs forums were valid, and whether or not my suffering had anything to do with psychiatric drug injury. I know that you regularly confer with therapists and clinicians, so I thought it might be valuable to check out some of these sources. As for me, I finally healed after 22 months. I could send that success story as well as pages and pages of peer-reviewed articles, books written by psychiatrists that all have similar viewpoints on psychiatric drugs (and validate the information that comes from forums) but I’ll just send these two. The short version of the video is free for viewing. I have just received in the mail the longer version of the movie on DVD. I would be more than happy to loan out my copy if you would like to watch it. Thank you for your past care and I hope you are doing well.

Just wanted to give an update. It looks like I've had more healing, read below:
Welp I guess I've had more healing- I just spent two hours in 90 degrees (Fahrenheit) heat while gardening and my heart didn’t start beating faster even though the temps rose significantly in the first hour. Last year my heart would start beating faster once I was out in hot weather. I must not be so reactive to the heat change anymore. Hooray!

Congratulations! I'm delighted for you.

Thank you so much for sharing the good news.

It's particularly heartening to read today as I've been struggling with heat and humidity lately.

So glad to hear I might look forward to improvements on this front, too.
