Benzo withdrawal is not human. It is a very hard thing to do and causes the deepest feelings of despair.

I know you absolutely feel that you will not heal and that your brain cannot recover. I felt that, as well as 95% of people withdrawing from benzos. On top of that, benzos create strong rumination because of the mechanics of the drug.

I know people from my former benzo group who suffered with strong symptoms of many kinds. They all feared the would not recover and thought that their life was over. They like you had family responsibilities, which is very hard during withdrawal.

They recovered and are living their lives now.

Benzo lie and the truth will appear when you are off.

@Hibari, @LotusRising,

I am currently taking 0.058 mg. in the morning and 0.1965 in the evening (total dose: 0,2545 mg.). I have two questions.

1) One of the problems I'm running into is that, after taking a dose, my heart rate and other symptoms increase, as if there is a paradoxical effect. Does it happened to you too with clonazepam?

2) The second problem is that the symptoms do not ease as the dose decreases. I've been experiencing this problem since the beginning of my taper (August, 2022) and I wonder if, for some, it's normal for it to work like this until the end and, perhaps, something improves if, by miracle, you manage to get off the drug. Your experiences have been a little different, I understand.

Thanks for you answers.

Finasteride 1999-2007 (1 mg)

Paroxetine January-September 2001 (20 mg.)

Paroxetine June-August 2008 (20 mg.)

Citalopram December 2008-January 2009 (10 mg.)

Mirtazapine May-September 2009 (30-45 mg.)

Xanax July-December 2009 (20 drops x 3)

Testosterone December 2009 - January 2010 (120 ml for 6 weeks)

Trazodone February, 26 - March, 19 2022 (25-50-75-50 mg.)

Clonazepam - 0,7 from May, 12 2022, then taper started from August, 15 2022, now at 0,2545 mg. from April, 18 2024

Rivotril drops 1 ml = 2,5 mg; 1 drop = 0,1 mg.

Hi @54fiftyfour

I think that some people experience what you do in terms of a reaction to benzos. I had that reaction when I was tapering Lamictal and switched to liquid from tablet. The liquid hit my system faster and I would feel hyper.

In answer to your second question, yes, I have known people who struggled the whole way off benzos and did not find relief till they were off. It was not their fault, they just had that reaction. They healed after they got off.

Hi @54fiftyfour

Yes, I did experience an increase in symptoms after taking my dose. For me, I don't believe it was paradoxical, rather just withdrawal symptoms from a big cut right at the beginning.

To answer your second question, my symptoms didn't improve until I was almost off the medication. It was very difficult all the way down for me, but it's like night and day now. I really think your symptoms will improve. I know it may not feel that way, but they will.

2003-2009 on and off various SSRI's for short periods, Ativan prn

2010-2011 Ativan, up to 1.5mg/day - tapered off without issue

2013-2021 ativan 1-1.5mg 10-12x/month, daily starting Oct 21 to help with buspar WD

2016 - Effexor 75mg, short-term

2021 Mar -Jun Buspar ADR at high dose, tapered 3 months

2021 Aug Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 days (ADR), then MIrtazapine 7.5mg for 7 days (ADR)

Oct 22/21 - Direct switch ativan to clonazepam (don't do this)

Tapered clonaz Oct/21 - Apr/23  - 0mg!

Supplements: omega-3, mag-glycinate

Thank you @Hibari and @LotusRising.

I'm sure I will never stabilize my nervous system by stopping my taper for long. I can do it for some day, but not for months. I'm in a very big trouble which is getting in danger my survival.

I mean that, as I read in some doctor's statement, the more I reduce my doses, the more my symptoms will increase becouse the cuts have a higher percentage impact. And if I think that I feel so ill with a taper of 2-3% per months, I ask to myself if and when I am able to stop this agony and how long it then last.

I would proceed more quickly, but it's not possible becouse my sufference is already extreme. At the same time, I realize that I'm damaging my mind and body forever. When we talk of clonazepam, 0,254 is still a mountain to climb and I'm really far from my goal. It would be simpler if symptoms decrease, but it's not the case.
