Correct, it was a withdrawal symptom.

Is it possible to still be going through WD even after reinstating the medication?

Yes, I’ve read it several times. Not every comment though.

I really hope it doesn’t take many months or years for this to go away. I did do a CT, but it was a small dose and I wasn’t on it for long. I thought it would be okay. It was even mentioned in this thread that CT from 5mg *should* be okay.

That I’m getting windows already (even if not completely gone), does that imply that this will be over somewhat soon? I know none of this can be predicted, I just need some hope.

It may well be that the Abilify you started on August 17 relieved your withdrawal akathisia at a low dose as it was getting into your system, but since then, it's ramped up to a higher drug plasma level and is now paradoxically causing akathisia. Suggest you lower the dosage to 2.5mg and let us know how you're doing.

Is it still advisable to drop down to 2,5mg? I’ve been stabilising on 5mg for a few weeks now. Could the 2,5mg actually make the akathisia not as severe?

I also tested positive for Coronavirus yesterday. The fever has already seemingly broken, however. Could this cause any issues or unlikely to?

And yes, rumination is something I’ve had a lot of in the past. The akathisia has made it worse though.

I’m not sure. I’m hoping going down to 2,5mg from 5mg would improve it, but I’m still on 5mg until I am recovered from Coronavirus (got it a few days ago).

I dropped down to 2,5mg of Abilify this Monday.

I have seen a pretty decent amount of improvement since I went down. The mostly involuntary leg movements have nearly stopped. I, however, still feel the vibratory feeling in my lower legs. I don’t know if that feeling has improved at all. I have also noticed I am able to sit and lay down almost normally (without kicking or moving my legs constantly). Since I feel I am getting better, the constant rumination has likewise decreased.

I also have noticed that the lower leg vibration feeling almost ceases at some point during the night (as I sleep). When I wake up, it is often very much decreased temporarily, until the feeling comes back (usually prompted by getting up). I should mention that I have been taking benzatropine (2mg per day), but I don’t think this has much to do with me feeling better. That mostly has occurred since going down in dosage on the Abilify.

Would it be too far to suggest that tapering further would improve my symptoms further?

The weird thing is…I’m not even sure the pins and needles feeling in the legs is related to Akathisia. It appeared along with the Akathisia, but I do not know if it is from Akathisia or just another symptom related to withdrawal. I cannot find much evidence of those with Akathisia having a feeling in their legs. The feeling itself is a bit like a parathesia. I still have it but it appears unrelated to an urge to move. Ever since a few days of being reduced to 2,5mg, I’ve had much less strong urges to move when sitting and even lying down. But the Neuropathy-like tingling is still present.

Under Abilify side effect listings, I do occasionally see mentions of ‘tingling in hands and legs.’ Is this related to Akathisia or a completely different side effect?
