Honestly that means so much, I’m still on the wave and trying to ride but this one’s so damn mental it’s unreal!
im actually going to be travelling 60 miles to stay with my ex and my kids for Christmas and as much as I’m so looking forward to seeing my boys I’m so scared of how I will be or if I can cope

Previous to pharma I was doing a fair bit of drinking and taking party drugs, mainly from the ages of 18 and 21

2014: started 20mg citalopram

January 2015: switched to sertraline 50mg

March 2017: dropped to 25mg sertraline

Between these last 2 dates I was on and off the sert (now I know this was stupid)

December 8th 2022: 50mg sertraline (adverse reaction: Suicidal images and homicidal images)

December 19th 2022: ct from sertaline

Sometime here had a paradoxical reaction to lorazepam (extreme anxiety, closed eye hallucinations) this caused the dpdr to start

February 17th/19th 2023: WD from sertraline started

Also had an amoxicillin treatment in February, not sure if this did anything but I did get akathisia from then

So seeing as this way hasn’t gone away I will now be hitting down symptoms, I’m officially coming up to a year from my CT from sertraline and boy does it suckkkkk so here we go

wednesday 20th December 2023

Been in a wave since roughly September and symptoms have changed a bit but I’ll state if so:

arm and shoulder pain down right side (clearing up)

brain sensations still strong like pressure points, burning, shudders, twitching and feeling my pulse in my head.

dpdr started off strong and weird and has now morphed into basically just stoned or drunk all the time but in a bad way.

emotions all over the place (anxiety, confusion, crying, laughing stupidly, awful rage)

vision is battered ( tunnel vision, kaleidoscope auras, blurry and unreal looking, words and objects vibrating sand jumping around a bit)

struggling to feel stuff towards people I should

memory shot to pieces to the point that nothing feels right, house don’t feel like mine, memories with my boys are all messed up, don’t recognise myself at all.

insomnia is slightly back, hard to sleep at night but will nap in the day

getting overstimulated by people talking at me

worst feeling I’ve noticed so far is feeling hollow I guess, like there is nothing in me

i also have some weird vibrating in my jaw and finger tips so that’s fun

onto a window soon hopefully

@SertralineIssues29 Sadly, for some people the symptoms do continue to come and go much in the same manner you are experiencing.  Knowing that it does happen doesn't do anything to alleviate what you are experiencing though. I am really sorry that you are going through this. I hope a window opens for you soon.

Sometimes the holiday season can become exceptionally stressful due to an increase of activity, a change in diet (festive meals and treats), travel, and just all around hoopla.  I don't know what next week looks like for you but if you might be subject to an uptick of activity perhaps you might want to plan in advance an escape route or a way to just avoid stressful situations all together. And yes, even fun situations can cause an over stimulation. This might not apply to you at all. If it doesn't then my apologies for mentioning it.

Warm wishes.

@SertralineIssues29  I feel your pain SI.  Your so strong.  You have endured a lot..   Thank goodness the last year is behind you which means your that much closer to the other side of this inhumane experience.  One day you will be able to look in the mirror and see you an  now that you did it.....

I had the kaleidoscope vision in on eye (during a med crash) and the doctor told me it's a form of a migraine...He said what kind but with my memory so poor I don't remember what...Something like a vascular migraine... I had no pain with it, just kaleidoscope vision in one eye.

Here is something I found on google

Migraine is a vascular headache believed to be caused by blood flow changes and certain chemical changes in the brain leading to a cascade of events, including constriction of arteries supplying blood to the brain and the release of certain brain chemicals.

We sure have chemical changes going on in our brains😡

Remember this will pass, the days will go by and one day this will be behind you.

Hey! No need to apologise, haven’t an escape route is important for a back up plan

im being driven up down and can more than likely get driven back in an emergency, I know the situation is gonna be stressful too, I haven’t been back to Brighton since this started which was kicked off originally by a panic attack I got from going there last year so it’s like returning to ground zero

how are you holding up over the seasons?

merry Christmas

xx

Previous to pharma I was doing a fair bit of drinking and taking party drugs, mainly from the ages of 18 and 21

2014: started 20mg citalopram

January 2015: switched to sertraline 50mg

March 2017: dropped to 25mg sertraline

Between these last 2 dates I was on and off the sert (now I know this was stupid)

December 8th 2022: 50mg sertraline (adverse reaction: Suicidal images and homicidal images)

December 19th 2022: ct from sertaline

Sometime here had a paradoxical reaction to lorazepam (extreme anxiety, closed eye hallucinations) this caused the dpdr to start

February 17th/19th 2023: WD from sertraline started

Also had an amoxicillin treatment in February, not sure if this did anything but I did get akathisia from then

yeh that’s right, vascular migraine was one of the things I was diagnosed with when I was going through the “something is medically wrong” stage, it makes sense though because I have a lot of head symptoms

I mean at least they’re pretty to look at right? 😂

how are you holding up at the moment? How’s wd treating you?

Hello old friend!
I have tried to explain my “condition” to my ex and she’s aware it’s something but I don’t expect anyone really understands the length of suffering unless they’re in it

I’ve put my foot down saying I may need stuff like naps, random fresh air, being able to take myself out the situation for a little bit

she gets it and that’s a start I guess aye?

how’s things your neck of the woods? I’m so sorry you’re back in a wave, hopefully the new year will bring new healing to us right? Step by step

hows your daughter recovering from surgery? I’ve had my fingers crossed for her

its always lovely to hear from you! Keep up that fight, your stronger than you know in waves remember that

merry Christmas too!

Thank you!  I keep my Christmas season very small and simple, so it is going well.  Our younger son is with us now (husband and I) - Andrew is in his 4th year of university.

Honestly if I didn’t have to travel to see my kids I would be spending it eating a small Christmas dinner and probably enjoying my warm duvet for the day 😂

oh that’s brilliant, are your family understanding of your situation then?

Definitely. I mean how can you explain the unexplainable...I don't always get it lol.

hows your daughter recovering from surgery?

She is bored silly. She is not one to sit around doing nothing but now has no choice. The surgeon says all is good. They seem to have got it all. Now a colonoscopy every 6 months to see if anything grows again. Just crazy for her at 37. I guess the genetics team is trying to figure out why.

Enjoy your holiday. It's low key here. Just the slow routine. Counting my blessings and there is many. 👍🙏💯

@SertralineIssues29 I am very glad you get to see your children.  It can be very comforting to spend time with those we love.  As for me, I have to limit my activities even the good ones sometimes. I think I have now got it down to a science.  I know how much time I can spend doing something that is activating, even if it is fun. Then I escape for a little bit of time.

Take care of yourself my friend.

Back in a wave so I figured I would come and jot down my symptoms at the moment

Head sensations are back as usual

muscle cramps in leg

dp/dr is through the roof again

brain fog

Uncontrollable anger has become a thing

feeling high and out of it

vision is all over the place

flashbacks to times on psych ward

feeling alone

feel like a lost cause

hatred for myself

SH thoughts

Sometimes hypomanic/artificially happy

I know it’s another wave to ride but it has its causes so I’m just rolling with it!
I hope everyone here is keeping on well, apologies for not being on here as much these days I just find it easier to try and forget withdrawal exists in my windows

love to you all 🖤

It's such a personal journey/burden but thankfully we have each other on here for the good, the bad and everything in between.
