One question , what if I can’t stabaliZe Becaise I am taking the Prozac w paradoxal ? This is so confusing . Benzo wds agtwr a 12 month taper . And off zyprexa tapered 2.5 for 14 months . 😢. This is a nightmare . And my brain is so sensitive that when I take a suppliment . Or the Prozac my brain reacts to it 😢! This is just feels lile

a no win situation for me . Or prob others in the same situation

It would take about 6 months to taper to 10 mg if you were able to tolerate the maximum taper rate if 10%. You are dealing with extreme withdrawal due to the fact you have tapered to quickly from other drugs. Adding another taper would just destabilize you further. Time and patience is needed for your CNS to settle down.

Ok . So the way I tapered was to fast ? The zyorexa taper . 14 months and the valume 12 months . I guess it was . I know I tapered too fast w the prior ones . The klonapin and the lexipro a few years ago . For sure . But I thought did these long enough ? Mabe at the end I should have held for longer 🤷‍♀️it was such small

sp crazy . It’s hard to fathom that benzos can cause this much physical and mental pain . And just the whole thing . Is a nightmare. Took 4 years of my life . And I’m so done w this **** ! 😢

Yes. And the jump off dose has to be very small. Smaller than imaginable.

Please try to follow the instructions to put your signature in the right spot. It helps us to be able to advise otherwise we have to reread and search which isn't effective.

Are you still on gabapentin? It also causes withdrawal. 

The key to a successful taper is stopping and holding when experimenting any withdrawal symptoms and waiting for them to resolve before continuing the taper. Also if each drop causes disruptive withdrawal, the taper has to be slowed down.

It is frustrating but there is no choice but to listen to our bodies and be kind to ourselves.

I’m sorry. I am confused with this forum . On where to put what ? It’s very confusing for me for some reason ? When I was in the benzo forum I would just chat and type ? It’s a bit diff . Especially with my brain all over . Sorry . I’m trying to put my questions in the right spot . I’m really not so sure I understand how on this forum . Sorry . I was trying to hold on my benzo taper but I was in tolerance wd . And I couldn’t level out at all . Pretty much through out my entire taper . But I do agree that I should have held much longer at the end 😓. Thought it was enough time . The zyprexa was so small. when stopped but ; I def should have held longer and then dropped again . 🤷‍♀️. Ok I will

Can coming off zyprexa and benzos cause Pgad ? I am dieing here w it . It happened when I came off benzos , now the zyprexa am 7 weeks off and I am still on Prozac . Haven’t tapered that yet . Had Pgad coming off lexipro also ? I’m so confused and does this horrific symptom go away ?

Can Pgad be caused from coming off zyprexa ? I had it when I came off benzos lexipro , and now zyprexa bad . Along w my nerves in my head and teeth and ears ring so loud etc . This Pgad is relentless! 😢don’t know what to do . Am only on Prozac . And I haven’t started that taper Yet .

It can be caused by any of these drugs is my understanding. Healing takes time and patience. You definitely need to stabilize before attempting a taper from Prozac.

Anyway , I know we spoke in regards to the Prozac . And it frightens me that I feel like when I put the med In my mouth , it makes my cns worse 🤷‍♀️can I still stabaliZe it that’s the case .

Yes because time will help you heal from the withdrawal that has occurred from previous drugs. Then your body should handle the Prozac better. Try to keep a daily journal of symptoms rating them 1-10. This will help you see the gradual healing and also help you see any patterns.

Could you please add the date/dose of Prozac to your signature? I believe I read in one of your posts you're taking 20mg starting in 2024. Is that right? Did you go from 0mg to 20mg or gradually work up? That info in your signature would be brilliant.

 

You'd likely be experiencing WD symptoms from the other drugs you stopped. You may also be feeling side effects of what you have recently started.

With time and patience, things will settle down: Windows and waves pattern of stabilization

 

I'd encourage you to read some of the success stories. I spend time reading those when I need encouragement.

No . I have been on Prozac for a year and half . I wrote down my signature already ?  I am off benzos for  7 months : off lexipro fpr 2 years : and off zyprexa for 7 weeks . I wrote my drug signature down . That’s all I can Remeber the doses were dropped by small inc .

Hi , I am not sure of how to use this site yet to post a question ? but I wanted to know if I can do a hyperbolic taper off Prozac 20 mlg . And if I can go down to 10 first and then do a slow slow taper ? They say that u can reduce still to a therapeutic dose but then have to do a hyperbolic taper , ? I’m scared to death Becaise of my history . I am 8 weeks off a slow taper off 2.5 zyprexa . I tapered that for 14 months and I am 7 months off valume having severe wds from both meds but having a very sensitive cns when I take that Prozac I feel I am creating paradoxal reactions . I know I have mentioned this before . I am struggling so bad . My brain won’t settle yet . And I’m doing everything I can to just get through this horrific wds . I have been pretty much house bound for almost 4 years coming off all the meds . Tolerance, wd and now still wds being off . But I really want to taper Prozac the safest way . Can I go from 20-10 . And then liquid taper hyperbolic like dr Horowitz said ?

I certainly would not drop from 20mg to 10mg in one go. WD symptoms would be the likely outcome.

How do I go to my own thread when I want to ask a question ? And does this just go to the admins ? The benzo group was diff . Everyone was able to see the posts . I am on 20 mlg  Prozac . I was poly drugged : I wrote down my history . But I have to add that I’m on Prozac 20 mlg for a year and half . I was on lex for 16 years . Never new why I stayed on it ? I never thought that it was bad . And really had no clinical depression . It was for acute situation back then . And then ssri dis syndrome bad ! Very bad . And now on the Prozac for a year and half . Am off all other meds . And very concerned why I am still in wds bad at 7 months 1 week off valume and I did a slow year taper . ? And zyprexa 8 weeks off . That wd was horrendous . But I am still having many symptoms. I just can’t understand the physical symptoms . Mainly . But some phyc issue wds still . Sometimes a wave of sheer terror . But mainly : my teeth hurt . Pgad , brain shakes , vibrations , joints ache , muscles , ears ring . Chills ; head pullimg feelimg . Throat choke feelimg . Etc 😢. It’s Absolutely debilitating. Still . Some things got a bit better but still struggling very bad . It’s so embarrassing. My neighbors see me in the house not going out for so long . And they think I’m crazy . I have tried to explain this . And am waiting for my 5 Lyme test to come back to make sure that’s not an issue anymore : so I am still feeling like giving up . Amd wanting the days to just pass by and then there is another day . Of the same **** 😭. Sorry I’m blabbing . I’m just venting . I feel like this will never end . And how could this all last so very long . I do want off the Prozac I really have paradoxical reactions . And I am requesting liquid for next month so I can start a very slow taper . I just read that I could come down to start half and then to very slow .? But I guess I cannot . And am scared to death to repeat the cycle . Thank you for listening . This is definitely withdrawal. It would be best to wait for your body and cns to heal before starting to taper Prozac. This would put too much strain on your system and could slow the healing process.

The symptoms you describe above are exactly the same as mine - they are awful aren't they?. I too am trying to taper off of Prozac. I cold turkeyed Venlafaxine and then started to quickly taper from Prozac at the end of 2022. When the WD symptoms hit, my doctor said he'd never heard of anyone having trouble coming off of Prozac!! I went from 20mg to 15 to 8 and then 6 before I found this forum. Am now down to 3.6mg (from January) but I'm finding it so hard at the moment and as you say it's debilatating and I think people think I'm going mad!!! I hope we both get some relief really soon and get our lives back. Sending you virtual hugs and hope you're having a better day today.

When I say paradoxal, I lean o take it and I feel like the Pgad gets worse and the ears ring louder ? I’m Not sure ? I am so confused by all this . I have crushing fatigue now . And I know my body hasn’t moved in over 3 years hardly but it’s like this fatigue that I feel like bricks are on my feet . ? I have loud tinitus and the nerves in my teeth feel like my teeth are twirling in my mouth and the brain shakes have gotten a bit better but I am stuck on if I have Lyme still 😢. I cannot get that out of my head Becaise I had a Lyme igenex test in 21 . And it said possitive , and I treated and treated it . And then a Lyme dr told me I had it in 23 ? But I treated it so much and I can’t take antimalarias or anything for it ? So I’m not sure if my symptoms are from the wds or what ? I am so depressed and scared over all this that my depression is so bad . I took another test last week and waiting for the results . Because wd symptoms are almost exact to that ? It’s been 7 months 1 week off valume and like I said 8 weeks off the zyorexa . Some symptoms have gone away a lot but have all these still 😢. I am beyond over this . And just don’t know what to do anymore . Can this still happen this far off these meds ?

You are not far off the drugs at all. You are still in a safe period of time to reinstate a very tiny amount of Zyprexa if you wanted to. Did any new symptoms start when you stopped Zyprexa. A very tiny reinstatement of it could curb those symptoms. 

I do not think Lyme disease is any longer an issue.

You are in WD due to too fast of tapers if very powerful drugs. Your body needs time to heal with no changes.

No new symptoms since the zyorexa wd . The tremors slowed down a lot . I am still getting some shakes in my head at night . But less . The nerve pain is still the same . As it was . Nothing brand new . Mabe am eye floaters . I noticed now . But still just the same . Pgad . And the nerves and muscles some joints and itching dry skin off balance . Etc . It’s a nightmare . Am afraid to reinstate the zyprexa because what if I get better in a month ? And then I won’t know it 😩. It’s such a hard thing to go through . It really is . I know I am just making sure w the Lyme test . But it could just show antibodies. Anyway . So it may not even give me an accurate diagnosis anyway . But I do know these have to be wds ! I just hope they go away soon . As for the Prozac o don’t really want to start a taper yet . But just can’t tell if makes my cns feel worse 😢🤷‍♀️

Sorry for interrupting, I wanted to ask how long is this safe period. I'm guessing up to 3 months is the general window for reinstatement with some seeing good results up to half a year, or am I wrong? Also, is being "far off the drugs" considered the stage when withdrawal stops being most acute because CNS catching some stability and being set on getting used to staying drugless? Is there a way individual facing withdrawal/adverse reaction/kindling can judge by their symptoms if the system is already on the "medless state being accepted" state?

 

Also @Jami wishing you lots of resilence, knowledge is good, but worries are bad. If you can I really advise working on stress levels, anxiety and panic. This will make things a bit more clear and less chaotic.

I know the stress and panic are bad : I thought was all from the wd symptoms. Was giving me terror and panic . But I had a scare like I said in my life w this Lyme disease and I was told by diff drs that I still had it . And there is no way to know if it’s active Becaise they freaking go by symptoms. So , it made me panic more . I’m hoping to get some clarity on this issue this week . But I do know most of what I am dealing w has been and is wds from these toxic meds . Ugggg : what a nightmare ! Is very scary ! Thank you for the advice . Trying to just push on . 🙏

The closer to coming off a drug and doing a small reinstatement the better. It means less stress on your CNS. 3 months has been more or less a cut off recommended on this site because after that success is less likely.

The acute phase is followed by PAWS is my understanding. Definitely the longer out, the more changes your body makes trying to stabilize. Unfortunately that doesn't mean less WD in either symptoms or severity.

It is a possibility but because you have been on it so long without these symptoms it seems unlikely. Those symptoms seem more likely from withdrawal from valium and Zyprexa. What date did the pgad start?

I have had the Pgad the entire time of tapering the zyprex and the valume . And got worse when I came off . I tapered the zyprexa 14 months and the valume a year . But came off fast at the end of both : 😢. I had the Pgad before the Prozac when I came off the lexipro also . Then kind of went away and then came back while tapering both those drugs . So I’m confused . Even if I take a vit c my ears ring louder and nervous system stirs up ? It’s hard to say what is causing what . Becaise of being poly drugged . That I was polydrugged . But I read that ssri can cause Pgad coming off or on ? And that the antiphycotic drugs can also . And the benzos also 😩. Just a nightmare . So I thought Mabe if I start the taper of Prozac it would ease it ? But then again o don’t know what I’m talking about cause I’m not 100 percent sure . I even get extra saliva and a sweet taste in my saliva at times when my cns starts up . I never heard of that ? But I went to ent and drs and they have no idea . So I guess it’s just from the nervous system . But right now my teeth nerves all hurt and my ears are ringing so loud and my Pgad is so bad 😢. It’s been worse . But it’s still very much there

I have such bad anxiety ? I don’t know . I never had before wds . I feel like my eye muscles can’t focus and my brain is pulling also . And I get nervous . Being out in public . It’s like so scary ? I can’t even explain . It’s just awful
