Yes, it’s exhausting.  I wanted to hide away where nothing and no one could rile up my nervous system.  Do that as much as you can, and take a lot of hot baths and showers.

I thought I would try magnesium glycinate because I was feeling so lousy... was starting to feel better on it then got sick again and started feeling worse again 😞

Could that have set me back... I'm getting so desperate the longer this goes on... trying to remain hopeful but after 9 years of this it's getting harder and harder... still don't understand how stupid pill can cause so much suffering.😞😖wtf

Dear @direstraits, how awful that you’re still suffering from protracted withdrawals after nine years. These med cause such devastation. I’ve been tapering for many, many, many years and have got a million to go, so I’m suffering along with you. My heart goes out to you. 
 

I’m sorry your symptoms have worsened again. Anything can ramp them up. I had magnesium ramp mine up in the past, so I stopped taking it. Later on I tried a different one I got off my integrative doctor and I’ve been fine on it. It’s liquid and I take a small dose twice a day. 
 

Hope you’ve managed a trip to the beach despite the suffering. I’m struggling so much with my health too, but I’m trying so hard to keep my chin up through the tears. 
 

I hope it doesn’t take too long for your wave to subside💛

we did get to the beach a couple weeks ago, it was a beautiful warm day for April 🌅

This journey is certainly exhausting emotionally, mentally and physically @direstraits, we seem to be imprisoned by these meds, they’re our jailers. All we can do is take a day at a time, an hour at a time, a minute at a time. It really is awful you’re still in protracted withdrawal after nine years. With this last drop I had more days in waves instead of windows. I’m already struggling to breathe every day and then being in a wave makes that even harder to deal with. I’m in a window at the moment though. Let’s see how long that lasts. 
 

I’m glad you managed to get to the beach. I’ve been there a couple of times myself. Do you have anything you enjoy doing at home that you can use to distract yourself? Cooking? Gardening? Arts? Crafts? Some days I just have to spend the whole day distracting myself to make it through the day.

It's hard to get motivated to do anything but I like to read when my eyes aren't too weird , watch cat 🐈 videos, enjoy the late night comedians, especially Colbert and Seth Meyers, do you get them there?

I used to like doing crossword puzzles.

Hi there @direstraits , I’m glad to hear you had a better day, 

 

My withdrawals are up and down, up and down. My nervous system is pretty shot, just taking an hour at a time, that’s all any of us can do. I’m tapering such small amounts and you can’t escape the dreaded waves. 
 

Yeah, cat videos are fun, I love all animal videos. I’m always amazed at the videos of the different sea creatures, such a diversity in shapes and colours. The diversity of insects is amazing too. Some of them really make me smile, some are so weird you have to laugh.  No, we don’t get the two shows you mentioned here, but YouTube would probably have snippets of most American late night shows.

Hang in there, direstraits.  Sometimes we have a wave that was not caused by anything we did.  So frustrating.  I’m glad to took a trip. That’s a good sign.

Your post just made me smile @direstraits , I’m so glad you had fun riding your bike. You know the old saying :”It’s like riding a bike.” 😄 You can forget how to ride one. I’m imagining you having fun on your bike as you’re peddling along with your husband, that’s just great.

Sorry you had an awful day @direstraits, this withdrawal thing certainly feels never ending. I was just saying to someone today I’ll still be tapering for more than a decade as I have to go so slow. I hope you manage to get some “good” days.
 

Hope you get cooler weather soon too so you can get out on your bike. I miss going out to the beach, but I haven’t been able to go anywhere in flu season, as it’s too dangerous for me to get into a car with anyone because of my lungs. My only outing in many months via car was to the doctors, as I had no choice. I had to get a script for the low dose naltrexone. I’ve just been at home every day, though I can go for a neighbourhood walk if I’m up to it, but I’ve just been too sick. 
 

Yes, it’s so very sad to hear about ShiningLight, she was dealing with so much in her life. She was always such a sweetie. So many people are suffering, it’s heart breaking. 
 

I still can’t go into remission, but I’m having a few more “bearable” days. My lungs may give in one day though the way I’m going. There’s no cure, but I really hope remission is still a possibility. It’s been two years. I really hope that you get some relief from your protracted withdrawal as well. 

 

Hope tomorrow is a bit better day for you. I’m just taking an hour at a time, or a minute at a time. That’s all we can do🧡

Lot of burning skin, feeling weak, vision problems etc.

Just trying to stay positive and hopefully this will all end someday.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re still getting so many symptoms @direstraitseven after all these years. Boy, these meds have certainly caused a lot of suffering for everyone on here. If only we all knew about this before we went on them.

Can someone tell me if I am starting over the WD after taking fluoxetine a couple years ago?

The thought terrifies me. I'm feeling so bad right now... don't know how much more I can take.😞

Sorry to hear that so you were taking it a couple of years ago can I ask you for how long and when did you stop or are you still dosing down ? in the mean time try relaxing your mind and body and don't buy into it to much if you can help it as this can fuel the effects

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about reinstating another medication during WD will be along soon.

 

While in a wave acknowledging our negative thoughts and fears can be very counterproductive - been there, done that 😉 What helps me most is distraction and of course acceptance. We just have to keep battling on…

Thanks for your response.. I was on it from May '21 to December '21 10 mgs. Then January '22 to May '22 went from 10mgs to 5 and stopped.

I was still having symptoms on it and gaining weight, that's why I stopped.

I'm just so tired of dealing with this.

Almost 10 years 😲

I see we're the same age, how are you doing?

Hi Direstraits i hope your feeling better, as gentlehermione suggested depending on how long ago you took the last dose you could try to reinstate gradually at a much lower dose and see if the symptoms start to decipertate until you reach your last does  5mm or just above and see what happens if you stabilised then  you can hold then  and can continue slowly lowering the dose every 3-4 weeks if everything is agreeable... continuing your recovery ......Me I've now  ct 8 years ago 14th December been a horrendous journey on a knife-edge I'm lucky I'm still here but putting up and persistence and determination things slowly ( years ) got better  but still suffering, fibromyalgia bone pain muscle cramps tinnitus skin irritation stings etc cognitive issues when a wave hits I get   morphing  physical   symptoms morph to worry  to anxiety  to depression etc  sufferance is something I'm not exempt from like you   but I do much customised  self therapy and mind adaptability  and expansion to deal with my wd,  mindset can go long way opting and developing as many strategies as wd symptoms to get by it becomes a survival habit it works for me. Hope this may help and hope you get back on course of a quick recovery
