Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day). Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) luv2knit
I had originally hoped for that, since I was only on one drug. I was on it for 20 years, though, and "tapered" way too fast. I think it might as well have been CT. I think the fact I was already on some good quality supplements may have helped. I compare my symptoms to some others, and without the akathisia, I may be somewhat better off, but between that, and the fact I can't even drive, due to vision and brain fog. My symptoms started a month after I was off, but I think someone said you start counting from the time you are off--so five months. That's almost halfway through a year, and I don't see things changing that much. It would be nice. luv2knit
Thanks, Muddles... Just hadn't quite made the connection between the vision and akathisia. Thought it was mainly due to lack of sleep. Sorry for whining. I really should be thankful I'm able to string a few tolerable days together, but sometimes it's hard to see it that way (when the akathisia ramps up). Got halfway decent sleep last night. Usually when the second half of a day turns bad like that, it continues on into the next day, but it is too soon to tell yet. Anyway, I am hoping for a better day today. Hoping that for everyone else too! OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. luv2knit
Akathisia appears to be staying at moderate level so far this morning--tolerable (barely), so perhaps I have broken the pattern. Don't want to speak too soon. Spent some time going over my handwritten journal this morning, which is something I often do following a particularly bad day (or bad half day, as the case was yesterday). Looking at it in 10-day increments--bad days, tolerable (barely) days, and somewhat better days--I definitely had an increase in bad days and a decrease in better days during the first half of December. Regardless of how I may feel at any given time, the last couple of weeks, there has been a slight decrease in the bad days, and a slight increase in the better days. The overwhelming majority of days are still in the barely tolerable range, but trying to look at it realistically, I think this is the best I can hope for right now. Even though there have been days when I really have not felt like bothering with the handwritten journal (and days when I have almost been too shaky to write), I have tried to keep up with it. At times like this, when I am feeling down about progress (or lack thereof), I am glad I have this to look back on. I recommend this to everyone. luv2knit
Oh my gosh! I want to scream! There is someone on the "Zoloft" Facebook page telling people they can quit cold turkey, and that tapering is not the "silver bullet". This person has posted the link to the SA tapering schedule, and misquoted it, saying it is 10% per WEEK. This person is saying they "get people off of it all the time". They are going to cause a lot of harm, if someone doesn't listen to those of us who have been through it Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. Wildflower0214
PM Alto about the misquote of SA. She needs to know. On another note, hope u are well besides wanting to smack someone. By "well" I mean not wanting to rip your hair out. luv2knit
Yes, "Well" these days does equate to not wanting to rip my hair out. I was able to get myself "settled" back down after reading all that person's misinformation, and advising them, they were giving out bad information and misquoting SA, so I guess that is pretty good. After yesterday afternoon/evening, today has ended up being a pretty fair day. Hope you are feeling a bit better, JDM!
