ikam
That's great news! It takes 4 days for the reduction effects (1.3%) show for me. It seems your system is not as sensitized. Is 4 days a rule for everybody? I remember with Effexor I had WD symptoms straight after decreasing... I have started 2% decrease...I know these are early days...it is good that I held through my difficult life period and waiting for a situation to get better... I am grateful for all the suggestion (sliding protocol) and support... ikam
Effexor is different, I think, as a half life is quite short (around 15 hours), when with escitalopram a mean terminal half-life is about 27-32 hours. Moderator Emeritus scallywag Posted July 30, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 30, 2016 ikam - I just did a quick analysis on serum/blood concentration with twice day dosing of the immediate release version. Steady state is achieved faster with Effexor; starting on the 2nd day (3rd dose) the daily pattern remains the same. However, the pattern between doses is far more variable than other drugs, as you probably know. That's the cause of rapid onset of withdrawal symptoms with Effexor. This is not medical advice. Martina23
Ikam, dont worry. Most probably, you will get very mild symptoms with 2%, if at all. I think 1-2% can not the body even recognize. But you are doing the right thing, tapering is in any case better than to stay on this drug and never know if your problems which you experience are not just the side effects of the drug. 05/2013 Lyrica 100 mg / per day for pain + PGAD resulting from caesarian delivery11/2014 started to taper: 50 mg per day/ for one week then c/tafter one month reinstated at 50 mg /per days of 10 July 2015 drug free- symptoms OCD Link to comment
ikam
Thanks. I think because I expect that I would be hit by symptoms I almost make it happen. I have this "ability" to create symptoms as I fear them so much... I am "actively" looking for them and finding them... E.g. I would get panicked over my heart rate, hence it increases even more and then I have evidence that something is wrong... I am so preoccupied now that I will get worse... Moderator brassmonkey Posted August 1, 2016 Moderator Share Posted August 1, 2016 Hi ikam-- the first two drops of this slide seem to be going wonderfully, I'm so excited for you. Watching for symptoms is a self fulfilling process. If you look for them you'll find them. It's very hard not to be watchful, especially on your first slide, with a bit of practice it gets easier. One good trick is to change the wording of your thoughts from 'when the symptom happens" to "if the symptom happens". It's a small but powerful change in outlook. Lots of distractions to take your mind off of it helps too. 20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013. Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks. The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better. Final Dose 0.016mg. Moderator brassmonkey Posted August 2, 2016 Moderator Share Posted August 2, 2016 Leg pain is really common in WD. Moderator Emeritus ChessieCat Posted August 4, 2016 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted August 4, 2016 Hi Ikam, I read this yesterday from this post by Alto: "My theory is that pain from withdrawal finds the spots on our bodies that are under everyday stress, such as sitting at a desk and typing -- my pain found my wrists, shoulders, and upper back." I have been wondering the same thing and think that perhaps our "weaknesses" are magnified in withdrawal. * NO LONGER ACTIVE on SA * MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: (6 year taper) 0mg Pristiq on 13th November 2021 ADs since ~1992: 25+ years - 1 unknown, Prozac (muscle weakness), Zoloft; citalopram (pooped out) CTed (very sick for 2.5 wks a few months after); Pristiq: 50mg 2012, 100mg beg 2013 (Serotonin Toxicity) Tapering from Oct 2015 - 13 Nov 2021 LAST DOSE 0.0025mg Post 0 updates start here My tapering program My Intro (goes to tapering graph) VIDEO: Antidepressant Withdrawal Syndrome and its Management Link to comment
ikam
Yeah, it sounds about right. The weaker point in my body magnified by WD On a positive note, I have found a good physio, she assessed me today, gave some hope that things will settle. Gave some simple exercices...Cheked my body strength and assume that although there are some things to be expected that come with age (a bit more stiff), my body is quite strong and in a good shape... The pain in my foot and stabbing pain at night are relate to sciatic and lumbar nerve, so I am feeling more positive now. I have some insurance that will partially pay for my treatment... Update on tapering- as I mentioned I will be making change on Tuesdays, hence I will work a bit longer with 2% drop. I am generally OK, bit more type of excitement/anxiety...but it goes away when I forget about it... As usually, I have problems with starting my day...I wish I could remain "the evening person" in the morning... - 12.03.2021- doxepin- 50mg - 6.11.2020- 75mg - 16.10.2020- 100mg - 30.09.2020- doxepin- 125mg - May 2020, omeprazole 40mg switched to esomeprazole 20mg - 2012 re-started Doxepin 75mg, evening. ikam
It is interesting but i actually feel better. More relaxed...As I have been no symptom free since I started Escitalopram, the symptoms I get I associate with "normal" functioning....I have nothing extra, and it seems I have less symptoms at present... I am in a type of stress free period, I have not had this luxury for years... It is nice an quite here where I live. I tend to stay indoors, as I enjoy this so much...Until now I used to live in places that were adding pressure to my life...I had difficulty to rest, relax... I am getting a bit better with my anaemia, have a bit more energy and my thinking is less cloudy... I am really pleased, as I was terrified that I would be flooded with symptoms. I am aware that these are just first two weeks, but I am more hopeful... - 12.03.2021- doxepin- 50mg - 6.11.2020- 75mg - 16.10.2020- 100mg - 30.09.2020- doxepin- 125mg - May 2020, omeprazole 40mg switched to esomeprazole 20mg - 2012 re-started Doxepin 75mg, evening. Martina23
Ikam, that is great, maybe you are therefore so tired that you dont have enough iron, it can be as you write you have anemia 05/2013 Lyrica 100 mg / per day for pain + PGAD resulting from caesarian delivery11/2014 started to taper: 50 mg per day/ for one week then c/tafter one month reinstated at 50 mg /per days of 10 July 2015 drug free- symptoms OCD Link to comment
ikam
Martina, yes, it seems that a lot of my exhaustion was to do with anaemia. My blood results are better now. I have been blending vegs and fruit + nuts + flax seeds + bee pollen and I have been drinking it every day. I also have less driving, less noise around the place I live at present. I am not so tired, more relaxed, my concentration has been better... The physio explained to me some of my pains, so I don't associate them completely with WD, but of course WD/AD make this issue more complicated... I am really pleased that I have started tapering and that I am using Brassmonkey's method, started from 1%, I will get 3% on Tuesday... I feel more hopeful now... - 12.03.2021- doxepin- 50mg - 6.11.2020- 75mg - 16.10.2020- 100mg - 30.09.2020- doxepin- 125mg - May 2020, omeprazole 40mg switched to esomeprazole 20mg - 2012 re-started Doxepin 75mg, evening. ikam
What I have noticed that if i have any emotion it seems sharper and deeper...also, as if I don't have a "break", so it feels accelerating, strange feeling... When I was home, doing nothing, I did not have many emotions... AliG
Ikam. You sound so much more positive about everything. The taper seems to be going well. I'm so happy for you. Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014 Psych Drug - free since May 2014 . Link to comment
Moderator brassmonkey Posted August 8, 2016 Moderator Share Posted August 8, 2016 Ikam-- the first several tapers will be causing symptoms to present themselves in a whole different manner than you're use to. Roll with them and listen to them to learn how you're going to react and understand the new feelings. Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017 "It's also important not to become angry, no matter how difficult life is, because you can loose all hope if you can't laugh at yourself and at life in general." ikam
Thank you all... I remember how I had to learn my symptoms signature when I was tappering Effexor... Tappering Escitalopram seems a bit more tricky, as I have to tapper much slower... I have started 3% today...a bit unsure about this step...unsure what to expect...but also determined to carry on with my journey...I want to get to 5% and then stop for couple weeks... Yes, I am more positive since I have started...I was holding for long and this made me feeling so hopeless...but I had to wait for a better, less stressful time... - 12.03.2021- doxepin- 50mg - 6.11.2020- 75mg - 16.10.2020- 100mg - 30.09.2020- doxepin- 125mg - May 2020, omeprazole 40mg switched to esomeprazole 20mg - 2012 re-started Doxepin 75mg, evening. Martina23
Ikam, dont be afraid, 5% is such a small amount that I dont think that you would get any problems from this, you are doing the right thing and you have to believe yourself 05/2013 Lyrica 100 mg / per day for pain + PGAD resulting from caesarian delivery11/2014 started to taper: 50 mg per day/ for one week then c/tafter one month reinstated at 50 mg /per days of 10 July 2015 drug free- symptoms OCD Link to comment
