Please post daily notes in this simple list format without the narrative. Thank you.

Or should  I better stop this reinstating? My doctor is trying to convince me or better force me to increase the dose, otherwise I could finally end up in a clinic and will be treated with other drugs.

I'm sorry.  I know you're not able to do much, but can you find things that make you feel calmer and safe?  You can always try some guided meditation to help you relax and get your mind off things for a little while.  There are lots of videos on YouTube.  Try to find things you can do to help yourself.

I have been asking you for daily notes to answer that question. Please make it easy for me to understand your symptom pattern without the long asides and repeated complaints. What I want to know is when you get symptoms, what those symptoms are, and what happens before and after you take your drugs.

Thank you!

Is this what you are looking for Caesar?

DSM-5 Diagnosis Code: Antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome 995.29(ICD-10 T43.205A)

It's in symptoms and self care.

Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks.

Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988.  In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm.

Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time).

5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014)

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!  Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to

2016 Dec 16 medication free!!

Longer signature post here, with current supplements.

Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016.  And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed.  Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022.  Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜

None of my posts are intended as medical advice.  Please discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical provider.  My success story:  Blue skies ahead, clear sailing

Thank you very much, but this code I have already. It was another long text including updates for several years, posted by Alto. I guess it was from 2018 - 2020 or 2022?

In Germany there is still no diagnose code for SSRI withdrawal longterm symptoms,

it´s a shame.

Peter Lehmann the book publisher discussed that point at a conference, but unfortunately without success so far. But thank you for your help!

I feel so bad, that I was not able to continue posting in here, feel absolutely overwhelmed and exhausted with everything. And this anxiety and drowsiness or numbness drives me crazy, there is barely no concentration.

Oooh, too bad.

I saw a recent update too Caesar65.  I'm tapped out today but will search again when fresh.  It might have been in Journals and Scientific Sources or In the Media forums??

Yes, I am quite sure it was there. But I am so limited, all my actions seem delayed, I forget a lot of things, it is frightening.

I thank you, once again. I even lost my diary notes for alto and had computer problems, too. I don’t function anymore like I used to be. 😢
But what I can say for sure is that since reinstating I received beside my permanent withdrawal symptoms some of the side effects of Lexapro, that I already had over the years.
I have to go urinating several times at night, I have constipation and I have great problems to sleep, it‘s like I am only between doozing and being awaked. And since a few days my skin shows something like skin rash. At this moment when I write this the terrible anxiety is better. But for how long?

Look at the last post in the link I gave you.

Altostrata posted that at the end of March of this year.

I think that is the one you previously saw, and then take your time distinguishing ICD codes from DSM diagnoses.......you'll find more at the start of that topic on that.

Your brain will come back......it just takes time.

I hope I did it with the current list in the right way, as you wish. I apologize for any inconvience caused. I really try to take much effort.

What I know for sure that I have got absolutely no relief so far with reinstating since March 25th.

And I can say that I still have all the same symptoms in same strenght remained like before reinstating. Nothing developed better in any way. At some days every symptoms even worse like I described.

24 hours a day I feel before and after taking dosages of Lexapro:

numbness, drowsiness in head, confusion, debilitated, eyes often half closed; bodily weakness in arms, brain fog, difficulty concentrating,  cognitive disorder; inability to make decisions; great forgetfulness, restlessness; feeling of unreality and melancholy; aso.

The heart palpitations are like daily waves lasting for several hours, so with the strong anxiety; I wrote in the list.

This is new:

since April 4th absolutely no sleep anymore!

severe constipation;

every nighttime urgent need of urinating at least 3 or 4 times!

(There is no infection.)

feeling of developing like emotional numbness

often muscle cramps in early morning

Please give me any advice, please! Please see also my last posts, too.
Until today all symptoms remain unchanged, and sometimes worse, I feel no relief so far since 25th March, when I started. ˋ

What I have in addition to my symptoms is

absolutely no sleep anymore!

severe constipation;

every nighttime urgent need of urinating at least 3 or 4 times.

This was also very often the case when I still was on Lexapro 20 mg.

Every day I hesitate to take the drug. It’s getting more and more hopeless for me.

I visited another doctor and was full of hope, but again I get very disappointed. He claims, there is no longterm withdrawal of SSRI, it can’t be. All the symptoms are part of depression, and he prescribed me Tianeurax / Tianeptin.😢 And he was laughing, when I told him, that I try to reinstate with very small doses. Such a small dose can have no effect, he said. It is so frustrating.

Hey after reading through a bit I'm wondering from what I've seen if maybe your having adverse reactions now

I'm no expert and I'm sure a mod would be better at telling but if your having additional symptoms not there before reinstatement then it might be wise to say it's not good for you

Again that's just my opinion though do not take it as gospel

Either way I'm wishing you the best of healing

Previous to pharma I was doing a fair bit of drinking and taking party drugs, mainly from the ages of 18 and 21

2014: started 20mg citalopram

January 2015: switched to sertraline 50mg

March 2017: dropped to 25mg sertraline

Between these last 2 dates I was on and off the sert (now I know this was stupid)

December 8th 2022: 50mg sertraline (adverse reaction: Suicidal images and homicidal images)

December 19th 2022: ct from sertaline

Sometime here had a paradoxical reaction to lorazepam (extreme anxiety, closed eye hallucinations) this caused the dpdr to start

February 17th/19th 2023: WD from sertraline started

Also had an amoxicillin treatment in February, not sure if this did anything but I did get akathisia from then

Look at the last post in the link I gave you.

I think that is the one you previously saw, and then take your time distinguishing ICD codes from DSM diagnoses.......you'll find more at the start of that topic on that.

Your brain will come back......it just takes time.

Could you please look into my last posts ? I don’t know what to do anymore, when I wrote in my lists „woke up“ it means actually that I didn’t sleep at all. I hear the alarm clock, and I am already always not sleeping. It’s a nightmare😢 I didn’t get reply anymore, I am sorry to cry for help.

Hi Caesar65,

The only thing I can recommend, after looking at several of your daily notes is for you to get real consistent with the time you take the 1 mg liquid escitalopram.

I'm seeing 8 and 8:30 and 9 in the morning and then 10:30.  I might have spied one at noon even.

Looks like the 10:30 am hour might work best, and really try hard to take the dose at that time if you continue, or go earlier but stay really consistent.  It can make a difference.

And.....then 17 days now at 1 mg.

Have the nighttime palpations improved, at all, even if inconsistently?

And I hear you.....I do, you are feeling witless without a clue of how to dig out.

Sometimes......just hanging on will work.

You've done a fair job with the dailies.  And it's not you......staff is out sick, or out working......or paddling water(myself), which is more often the usual than not.  But we are here.

Any strong feeling yeah or nay from yourself as far as abandoning this reinstatement trial or going up a small amount even?  Other option would be stay at 1 mg for a full 4 weeks.

It's not clear to me either if there is any improvement even slight........or if you are worsening versus that your expectations were just too high around this.

I'll put you in for conferring, as like I said I'm a bit wobbly these days but will come around to hold your hand virtually.

If you abandon the reinstatement or if not......you can still benefit from as much non-drug coping as you can wrap your head around.  In fact continue with the dailies making sure to add if you tried something/anything even if it's just imagining better days.

Insomnia is one of the most trying WD symptoms.  Please see: Tips to help sleep

And then for other ideas to help get through these miserable times you are in:

Non-drug techniques to cope  The first post there has a whole indexed list at the bottom of different things you could try and experiment with

If you are able to sit up and read when awakening in the night, I wonder if that might help a bit until you feel re-tired......very tired enough to get back in bed and try again.  Set an alarm if you continue the 1 mg escitalopram to keep that timing precise(in case you sleep in).

Obviously.....I'm torn whether to tell you to stop now, or updose an eensy bit.......hence will confer.  I do however, want to hear how you are feeling over all about continuing versus abandoning the reinstatement.  Separately from the dailies.  I promise to read.  Do try and remain hopeful too, and put it in your writing(just saying as that has helped me shift many a time).

Continue to pay good attention to eating, even when it is the last thing you think about.  Keep up the walks to the cemetary?  Is your loss recent?  I mean that could certainly play a part.

I'm leaning towards a strong no, or nay on having you start another drug or go inpatient to a clinic myself.  I think you'll find it, within to soldier on and find a shift to hope and maybe some new things to pursue to cope.

So hoping that just the little interaction has helped.  So many Caesar65, like you, and just starving for some human connection right now.......and we all know it makes a huge difference.  You're courageous.  Keep it going.

Do you feel better or worse after you take 1.0mg Lexapro?

I can’t say at all that I feel better, all symptoms remain and get much stronger throughout the day.

After just taking it, there is first no big difference, but the whole day is a torturous day with heavily heart palpitations lasting for hours, or like today lasting all day long.

First everything developed extremely worse, then I reduced again to 0,5 mg for 2 days, and then again 1 mg. I wrote about it April 5/6th.

These severe symptoms I have got in addition since this April:

- Absolutely no sleep anymore! I can’t sleep! I am always awake.

- severe constipation!

- every nighttime urgent need of urinating at least 3 or 4 times.

This was also very often the case when I still was on Lexapro 20 mg, but the sleep pattern was quite better. ( please see my posts from Wednesday/ Thursday )

All the wellknown symptoms remain still every day, and are very disabling like before reinstating and there are severe waves when the undescribable feelings of strong anxiety, numbness in head, confusion, no clear thinking gets extremely worse, and makes me totally unable to concentrate for anything, like simple things, fe reading a newspaper or writing.
But this already appeared also without Lexapro since last year. A very disabling feeling is the heavy difficult of making decisions for me, whatever it is.

I waste a lot of time with it.

It is different, like this Tuesday they appeared not so long and not that strong, like in morning and early ev. But this is rare.

Today and yesterday they lasted all day long, very strong, and since 2300 hrs p.m. this evening I don’t feel them anymore, but this is very rare. All day long they were very noticeable until then, very debilitating, and with strong anxiety.

You take 1mg Lexapro between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.? That's too great a span of time. The inconsistency may cause some of your symptoms. Please take Lexapro at the same time each day.

Your daily notes consistently report heart palpitations start shortly after you take Lexapro AND in the early evening. Is this correct? If not, please continue to post daily notes with the correct detail about the palpitations.

Do you have breakfast each day?

Every day I hesitate to take it, I feel a strong inner resistance  against taking it, and try to delay taking it, can’t make up my mind. Of course it should be always the same time. And I always think about and would like to reduce it again.

Because I feel no relief, but the severe insomnia, severe constipation and the urgency’s to WC every night. I am not able to sleep anymore! I am awake, when I wrote „woke up“ that means actually I was already awake. Unbearable!
Will this be temporary or not? I ask myself.

Should I continue reinstating? And  will I get a feeling of well- being?

And I don’t have breakfast every day.

You increased from 0.5mg to 1.0mg Lexapro? Why did you do that?

I went to my doctor, and is was like he demanded me to increase, at least to 1 mg, because a small dose of 0,5 mg from his perspective, will have no effect, even though I reported my symptoms again. He said, if you are in a clinic, you will get much higher doses, if you want it or not.

He always says, there are no longterm withdrawal symptoms, like so many others, too. He told me to push through and see what happens then. And full of despair, I tried it out.

I am sorry.

And then the next days were extremely worse, also extremely when I reduced again to 0,5 mg. It was in the first week of April. Please see my posts from this dates, too.

@Caesar65 I am so sorry you are dealing with this. First I have to ask, does your doctor have the authority to have you put in a clinic? If so be careful what you tell him. If it was me, I would let him think you increased but of course would follow the direction here. I also saw in your thread “teatime”. I do not know if this is literal but caffeine whether tea, coffee or chocolate is not good for your CNS. Neither is alcohol, nicotine, CBD or many supplements. Are you taking any of these things? Do you take magnesium biglycinate or fish oil as recommended?

L, P, H, and G,

Dear MMtodays,

I am so grateful for your message, and thank you very much!

I write more back to you very soon, but what is bothering me a lot

is always the fact of these new symptoms/Side Effects of Lexapro

the severe insomnia, I can´t sleep anymore.

I am awake, when I wrote „woke up“ that means actually I was already awake!

the severe constipation bothers me a lot, didn´t have it anymore since I stopped,  after withdrawal last year over a year ago.

the urgent need to urinate every night, but that doesn´t wake me up, because I am already awake

Every day I hesitate to take it, I feel a strong inner resistance against taking it, and always delay taking it.

Should I continue reinstating? And will I ever get a feeling of well- being back?  Will I ever feel normal and ok? I am asking myself every day.

Take care and stay in touch! Greetings from Caesar

The doctor has absolutely no authority about me, but because he seems not to be convinced of a longtime withdrawal syndrome, and is questioning the effects of small doses, he suggested to increase up to at least 1 mg. Because of my despair its like a little manipulative treatment.  But these small doses have a severe effect, there is no doubt about it.
Since reinstating I have this severe insomnia, like I never ever had like this worse before. And this constant constipation and several times urinating at night also occured since reinstating. And nothing helps me to sleep!
And I don’t smoke, no alcohol, and the only supplements I take since a while is this fish oil and magnesium.

@Caesar65 the medication you take at night is not herbal. It is a strong antihistamine that affects the CNS. This is what I found:

What are the negative effects of doxylamine succinate?

Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, constipation, stomach upset, blurred vision, decreased coordination, or dry mouth/nose/throat may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

@Caesar65 this is a strong antihistamine that affects the CNS. It can also cause dependency. I would consider stopping it especially because of constipation and the other side effects.
