Tapertrauma
Hi Lovely People, I've started ruminating about all the Christmas activities we're committed to and the hours of work I have to do. It's making me feel exhausted just thinking about it. Would it do any good yo try and bank some extra sleep/rest beforehand whilst I have the chance or doesn't it work that way? I don't want to let my boss, friends and family down. 2005 - Successfully and easily cold turkeyed from Sertraline on doctor's advice - during stay in rehab for alcohol dependency - still sober 20 years later. 2019 - Starting dose of Citalopram - extreme fatigue - came off after one week July 2019 - Self-medicated on 5HTP from health food shop - was advised no side effects - made me suicidal. 2019 - 2021 - Stabilized on 75mg of Venlafaxine and 10mg Prozac, functioning normally 2022 - Crashing fatigue returned - was advised was the Venlafaxine - tapered very quickly off - over the course of a month to nil 2022 - Prozac upped to 20mg and prescribed Beta Blockers for anxiety - made my low blood pressure even lower 2022 - Prescribed Amiltripaline for headaches - took for a few months - no improvement in headaches - tapered very quickly to nil 2022 - Prescribed Pregabalin - took for a few months - made no difference at all - tapered very quickly to nil 2022 - 2023 Have reduced Prozac from 20mg to 15mg - 01/12/2022 reduced Prozac from 20mg to 18mg; 29/12/2022 reduced Prozac from 18mg to 15mg; 08/01/2023 reduced Prozac from 15mg to 8mg 26/05/2023 reduced Prozac from 8mg to 6mg ; 09/06/2023 reduced Prozac from 6mg to 4mg; Dec 3 - Dec 9 2023 Prozac 5 mg; Dec 10 2023 - 4 mg. Angus
@Tapertrauma I read your recent posts and you should be so proud of yourself💕. You are persisting even when you are not feeling yourself! You are so strong. I totally understand how overwhelming life expectations and events are…and now it’s magnified. Maybe prioritize the things that are most important to you and have some back up plans if things need to be adjusted. Give yourself a lot of grace and I think resting up before and during may be helpful as well. I don’t know if any of this is helpful… if it isn’t l, just disregard. Keep on taking one step at a time. Mentor Greatful Posted December 15, 2023 Mentor Share Posted December 15, 2023 @Tapertrauma I love your choice on your name "tapertrauma" This whole thing is a nightmare and causes trauma😓 I want to share a meditation that I used sometimes at night when I have a hard time falling asleep ( I used it last night) It's put on by Baylissa on YT Evening Mediation https://youtu.be/znfRnQA9sg8?si=WNsMF50ERq-7NgUf I think you should let your body tell you....If you are feeling really fatigued---rest. I know it's hard to find a balance...When to push yourself and when to rest....From I read you are doing a fair amount of things on a daily basis.... I know there a days where I say that's it, I am going to lay low all day or at least until I feel like I can do something....Sometimes I do a little bit then rest, then do a little bit then back to resting. I am slowly learning not to get down on myself because I can't do as much as I use to.....Maybe that's what self care and lself love is. I need to learn that my self worth is not defined by how much I get done for the day, or how busy I am.....Remember our bodies and brain are working sooooo hard to find homeostasis...So we may not be physically active but inside there is a lot going on..... Take a ride horse for me out in beautiful nature around you.....Sound wonderful. I think your name is brilliant too. We do have so much to be "Greatful". You're so right about resting when we need to but I often find the balance difficult; and boy do I pay for it later. I love your analogy that's there's a lot going on inside. I'll try and take on board we're healing on the inside; however bad we may feel. Riding my pony (with my supportive friend) is awesome. My family, friends and animals keep me going. I'll definitely check out the meditation. Thank you so much; your support means the world. Hang on in there. Tapertrauma
Hi Everyone, Happy New Year and may the year be full of healing for you, I have had varying symptoms over the Christmas period. I have been on 4mg since June 2023 (except for a very brief period of 5mg a while ago) and I am now wondering if I should start tapering again. I take my Prozac in a liquid form (so currently it is 4mg in 1ml of Prozac liquid). Is there a table I can use to calculate dilute the Prozac in water as I go alone. I am planning to try and taper 2% at a time - maybe fortnightly? Tapertrauma
Hi Everyone, Hopefully someone can offer me some reassurance. I am tapering from Prozac (after practically cold turkeying from Venlafaxine over two years agp on my GP's advice). I am down to 3.6mg of Prozac in .9ml of liquid which I started on 11th January 2024. I had a brief period of awful WD symptoms but then felt relatively ok for a while. Then I got a stinking cold and sinasitus which lasted 3 weeks; during which I felt awful. The cold has gone at last, but the WD symptoms have returned with a vengence and at times are unbearable - every day is different - chronic fatigue, debiltating headache, crippling anxiety, depersonalisation, desperate depression and hopelessness, GI issues and nausea and sometimes a combination of one or more of the symptoms. I'm getting to the end of my tether and can't see a way out. Can someone reassure me this will pass. I need some help to cope at the moment. Tapertrauma
I feel like I'm going backwards. I know this is common. It is 3 months since I reduced my Prozac dose by 10% and the symptoms are still coming thick and fast. I never know which one I'm going to get on any given day. One day it is chronic fatigue, another day could be the headache from hell (which I suspect is due to the rapid Venlafaxine withdrawal from Oct 2022); tinnitus, nausea and other GI issues; panic, anxiety, hopelessness, terror, depersonalisation is especially frightening; the feeling like I have had a bad dose of flu; aching limbs amongst other things. I was lucky enough to have a one to one session with Mark Horowitz (that man should receive a Knighood) and he said whilst I was feeling so bad to do nothing and not to taper any further. But it is SOOO hard and I so want to get this medication out of my system. I feel like I'm moaning all the time and my family and friends must be sick to the back teeth of me; I know I am. Just needed to vent a bit - today is a chronic fatigue day - it is 10.00am here in the UK - I have been asleep for 10 hours and feel like I've been up all night. Tapertrauma
So, I now have a copy of Deprescribing Guidelines. According to the tapering guidelines I should have tapered off of my Venlafaxine over a period of 20-40 months and not the few weeks I actually did, as advised by my GP. That was October 2022. Could I still be suffering from the ultra rapid withdrawal of the Venlafaxine rather than the Prozac withdrawal (which is still ongoing). If it is the Venlafaxine, I suppose I'm stuck with it. Can someone reassure me it will get better eventually. The fatigue and headaches are debilitating and unbearable at the moment.
