Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD) -10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot -Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram -Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015 -8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted July 8, 2022 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 8, 2022 (edited) I'm deeply touched by all of the congratulations and you all sharing in my joy! It is bringing tears (of happiness) to my eyes! I'm deeply and profoundly grateful for being able to finally get off of psych meds altogether. Thank you Jesus! I am truly amazed. I actually feel different today, since this is the first day in decades I have been 100% psych med free. I actually feel truly present to the moment, if that makes any sense. In other words, I don't have that feeling of spaciness, and mild DP/DR. What a relief. t shows how unbelievably powerful Lexapro is, that 0.005 mg could still affect me that way. I realize this won't be all unicorns and rainbows, and that there is still healing that needs to happen. But, I'm so thrilled I will never again need to do another reduction!! Woohoo!! mdwstrx
@getofflex Add my congrats to the mix!! Wow, I'm so happy for you. Great job!!! 💪💜 When I first started this journey, I was terrified that getting off Lexapro/Escitalopram was impossible. You and others on the sight have demonstrated that with a slow custom taper, it's indeed doable and worth the effort. Thank you for trail blazing! I pray that things continue to go smoothly for you and will be watching for your updates! Moderator brassmonkey Posted July 10, 2022 Moderator Share Posted July 10, 2022 I am so pleased for you, it is a major accomplishment, and you've worked so hard for it. CONGRATULATIONS. Let the healing begin/continue. ((((((((((((MONKEY HUGS))))))))))))) 4 20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013. Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks. The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better. Final Dose 0.016mg. Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017 "It's also important not to become angry, no matter how difficult life is, because you can loose all hope if you can't laugh at yourself and at life in general." Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted July 12, 2022 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 12, 2022 (edited) I know that my nervous system still has healing to do. My sleep is still spotty - last night, I woke up twice during the night - once because my husband was thrashing due to orthopedic issues, and another time. I'm feeling tired today, but it's manageable. Uptick in hot flashes, but this could just be hormones. However, I've seen many Lexapro survivors have hot flashes, including men. It could be my system is feeling the jump to zero, but if so, it's pretty mild. I consider myself extremely fortunate that this is all I'm dealing with at this time. I'm looking forward to the day when I can live a normal life, and not have to limit myself. (because then my nervous system becomes revved up and I can't sleep). Again, thanks everyone, for sharing in my joy and celebration! I'm beyond thrilled to be rid of Lexapro! Edited July 12, 2022 by getofflex 2 Please do not private message me. Thanks for these encouraging words. I was awake for 3 hours during the night last night, and had some anxiety, and strange thoughts and images coming into my brain. I think my brain has registered that I'm fully off this now, after about a week. I'm using the change the channel technique, acceptance, and AAF. Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted July 31, 2022 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 31, 2022 @Greeneyedfelinesthank you! Well, I was feeling great for the first 2 weeks after I jumped off Lexapro (went to 0). Then, here in my city in Missouri, we had a freak rainstorm that dumped 8 to 12 inches of rain on us in a few hours. It broke all records. From that day until yesterday, I've been not sleeping as well, and more anxious. I know I'm easily affected by weather. I'm doing alright today - I slept better last night, still a bit anxious, but that could just be life in general. I'm optimistic, and believe that as time goes on, my sleep will improve, and weather and things might not affect me as much. Please do not private message me.
