Parisien: premature ejaculation escitalopram 10mg and Brintellix 5mg - sexual dysfunction

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just coming here to say that at a little over a year off from 10mg of lexapro, i was able to have sex for a completely normal amount of time, 4 times, last weekend. my libido is still maybe a bit lower than normal and my pelvic floor feels tense, but i did not have trouble with PE or ED. This is after worrying for many months that I would never be able to have sex again. I am still tapering from Valium as well and I expect further improvement as time continues and as I get further and further away from all psychiatric drugs.

Trust the healing process.

-lexapro 10mg daily from 2012 to 2021 (halfed dose in 4/2021, went all the way off 6/21)

-various benzos 2014-2019... valium 2019-10/2021~20mg, inconsistent but daily dosing
10/9-17.5mg 10/23-15m 11/29 - 12.5 12/24 - 12 12/31 - 11.5
2/27/22 - 11 3/31 - 10.5 4/14 - 10 5/3 - 9.5 5/15 - 9 6/6 - 8.5

Great news that you are healing... Were you able to get hard enough for sex before that/ to get good erection? Or it was only the PE?

It was mostly just PE. erections varied depending on stress and everything else... i still don't have morning erections like i used to, but i don't know, things seem to be trending in a positive direction... knock on wood

Hi, glad you're progressing it's nice to hear I hope you'll get better and better over time.  But I understand that you are still taking the treatment..?  Or you have stopped for a year I did not understand.  Courage to you my friends

Hello everyone, I was on seroplex 10mg in October 2019 for over a year and then on brintellix from March to September for maybe 8 months. I made several attempts to stop abruptly then I resumed the treatment of brintellix recently for a few weeks because it was too difficult to stop.

Symptom when stopped: premature ejaculation, ejaculation with less orgasm. Severe insomnia, transient headaches, sensitivity to noise and light.

Last intake of brintellix 5mg: Saturday, September 11, 2021

Hey guys!

Just want to give you a 20 months update.

Things have improved rapidly the past month. I feel much more peace and I even start to get my emotions back. It’s like I get an electric rush in my whole body every now and then, but it’s in a good way. It’s like my body tries to act normal again.

I now have night erections every night even though they are really weak. I can also fantasize about sex and get some respond  down stairs. And even more good news, I now have a pretty normal orgasm and almost normal sperm production. First 19 months I had ghost orgasms and almost no sperm production at all.

So what is left? Well pretty much I’m afraid;

- shrunk penis, both when flaccid and erected. At least 3cm shorter than normal. This has not improved.

- Can’t concentrate like I used to, get tired quickly

- can’t do sport like i used to, I get tired quickly

- Still some anhedonia

I guess I’m about 70% healed which is good but not good enough when it comes to living a normal life. I hope the reamaining 30% will heal the coming year or so.

Keep fighting my friends!

2018 Isotretoin 80mg

2019 Tetracycline 500mg

2020 Sertraline 50mg (okt 2020 - Jan 2021)

Hey Avicii,

it seems like you have a similar way of healing like I have. Things will get better but we just have to keep going. Even if things go up and down. So good to hear that you finally see some good moments and also inner peace! You will return to a normal life, probably just a couple of months away :)

Ah and just to mention something… I really don’t understand how these pills can be subscribed like that. 2 friends of mine also took these things and the year such bad side effects that they went from AD to AD and now decided to get off them slowly again… In my opinion a lot of people have a lot of problems with these meds, they should be warned in a better way…

thank you for the kind words. i’m still coming off of a benzo but i have not been on any ADs in over a year, after taking them for 10 years. benzo withdrawal has contributed to the dysfunction, i don’t think the low dose i’m on (6mg a day currently) is “helping”… i honestly believe that everybody heals.

Hello @Avicii, I'm really happy for you, your message makes me happy.  Glad that you're gradually finding your emotions, it's going to get better and better, I think.  Me too, I'm gradually regaining my emotions, even though I'm still very tired if I don't get enough sleep.  I still have difficulty concentrating even though I have regained all my memory.  It's true you have found your orgasms as it was before??  Me they are still muted after almost 9 months of withdrawal.  Remind me what treatment you took please, how long of treatment with this drug and how long have you been in withdrawal?  And level of premature ejaculation, where do you have it?  I still have the same sexual problems from before and I also have the impression that my glans is sticking out more than before as if I had less skin.  I already recen more pleasure and desire than a few months ago even if it has nothing to do with my libido before.  Regarding the size it's about like you can be 2cm less at rest and in erection I wonder if it will come back like well I find it hard to believe for it.  But if your orgasms are back, that's already huge for me, they're really muted and I can't imagine them coming back.  Courage guys @Ben190

Hey Parisien,

you will also heal in this aspect. For me the last thing to start improving in any way were the sexual things.

it was just crazy… I mean you have to imagine. I was there one day, I think I was 8months in WD in a hotel room and wanted to masturbate but I felt nothing!?! I was like wtf—- and I could orgasm after 10min of extreme hard work, but I felt nothing and there was 0,0ml sperm.

I mean from today perspective looking back to that day… I still can’t believe that my body started healing. That I now can get normal erections, normal orgasms, normal morning erection. Just still lower libido. But isn’t that crazy? I mean if healing would not be possible then please explain me my journey…

have a nice weekend :)

@Ben190 I would so much like to believe you, these damn sexual dysfunctions are playing on my morale and my self-confidence.  Level of the size of your sex after the shrinkage you noticed that it returns to an original size from when?  I remember having sex just before stopping antidepressants where I had a normal penis size with good erections.  It's strange I wonder if the reduced size is probably due to weaning, so but is it due to the fact that erections are worse than on antidepressants?  Or the penis has simply shrunk in size and it will return to its normal size?  Because it's long.  After me I'm improving in a lot of aspects I'm getting over it and sexually I already have a lot more desire than before but some problems are still not resolved I hope everything will come back little by little

Hi! I took the pills for 4 months and quit CT 20 months ago. Yes my orgasms are 90% back to normal but still shrunk penis and dysfunction from my waist down to my feet.

just like Ben190 I had muted orgasms for at least 15 months and some orgasms without any sperm at all. First 12 months I hade severe pain in my genital area aswell….

As I said, it’s getting sloooowly better each week but it’s very very slow.

Hello guys, I'm here to do a little update.  Hope you are doing better and better.  For me it is still improving mentally, my sleep is better and I recognize more and more emotions.  I am more and more connected to people at work.  Unfortunately for me sexually there is not much improvement even though I haven't had sex since to really judge.  I am currently flirting with a girl where I was very excited due to a tactile rapprochement.  Excitement that I have less and less with porn.  So I think porn and overly regular masturbation doesn't help (at least in my case).  I hope that during intercourse my premature ejaculation will resolve itself with practice.  I'm already very happy to be mentally better now, at 9 months of withdrawal, I'm giving myself time and I'm trying to do the best I can, telling myself that it's not all my fault.  Even if some days it's hard to think back to my old self.  Please let me know guys it will do me good to discuss our condition everyone.  Especially with the holidays approaching I wish the best for each of us here we deserve it.  And we'll get there in time I'm sure

Hi guys I have a question have any of you taken the treatment back and noticed a change?  Sex size returning to normal?  More premature ejaculation and an improved libido?  Because me at 10 months of withdrawal I have no improvement it's really sad @Ben190

Please don’t take it again, I tried this and it was worse then first WD. You will probably also need 2 years to see improvements in this area as libido, sexuality etc seems to be the last symptom to resolve for people (which seems natural as the body needs anyway all the energy in other processes during the healing). What are your symptoms here atm?

hope you're telling the truth because I don't believe in it too much at the moment, I'm a defeatist.  I still have premature ejaculation even if it's improved slightly it's really tiny improvement.  Always shrunken sex, very bad erections and no libido and a muted orgasm.  Sleep is almost back to normal.  On the other hand, the brain fog does not always make me feel like I have pressure in my head and it is hard to concentrate.  I have a very strong stress peak in the morning which subsides later in the day.  For that, I try techniques like breathing well and above all not rushing to do things, which stresses me out even more.  And you are doing well ?  January will be a year since I quit cold turkey and drug free.  I'm going to wait another year but frankly it depresses me a lot @Ben190

Thank you for your support, I hope you too will get better and better.  What I find incredible is that during the treatment my penis still had a normal size.  It's just when he stopped shrinking that's really weird.  I would be curious to know if by resuming the treatment it resumes a normal size.  Even if I'm not going to do it, I'm not going to waste all the efforts I've made so far and everything I've endured, especially at the start of withdrawal.  But well, you took the treatment for less time, you're the first person to say that you have regained a normal sex size after shrinking.  I'm still waiting I'm doing things right but personally I don't see myself living indefinitely with premature ejaculation, shrunken sex, a muted orgasm and no more libido at all.  It is unlivable.  Have you recent sexual enhancements from when did you click?  more brain fog?  Sometimes I think that having stopped the treatment suddenly without doing it gradually means that I may never return to normal

I also have pelvic floor spasms. I would describe them as very unpleasant feelings from my waist down (constant pressure) and urges to hit the toilet. Somehow our gut-brain axis is damaged, I guess. I also have tight sensations in the muscles in the gut, sometimes problems urinating, pain in my genitals and total erectile dysfunction.

It's so bad to live with this condition, it takes all of my energy and life. I feel like my brain is recovering from a very bad car crash

Hello @Fairsome has your pelvic problem gotten better? & have you ever tried pelvic exercises

April 2022- Only 1 celxa pill 10mg

had an adverse reaction & never took anymore again

Hey!

It’s still very bad…my pain is gone though but still electric and numb feeling from my waist. I am also 100% asexual. It’s a complete nightmare. I haven’t tried any exercises because I believe all damage is beacuase of my brain.

2018 Isotretoin 80mg

2019 Tetracycline 500mg

2020 Sertraline 50mg (okt 2020 - Jan 2021)

It affects my bowel and bladder movements, yes. Seems like the whole nervous system is imbalanced... @Ben190 did you have a hard time passing stools or feeling like you haven't emptied your bowel completely? And hard or tiny stools. I also have this feeling of pressure in my head and sometimes uncontrolled bladder movements, obviously everything is connected...

Sertraline 50mg, 100mg March 2021 - April 2021

I don't think any exercises will help because the damage is in the serotonin receptors or the nervous system...

Yeah I was thinking the same honestly seems like only time will heal. It’s a very annoying symptom as I keep having to go to the doctor to make sure I don’t have a UTI infection. & I have the same constipation problem as of lately, I take the laxative “myralax”, it helps. @Fairsome

Yes it is probably time, I believe the nervous system can repair itself but how long will it take to live a normal life? I can't believe how much damage these sh*tty pills can do and doctors even deny it...

Idk but my nervous system needs to hurry up. Because your right.. constant pain, doctor visits, intrusive thoughts, limitations on physical exercise is definitely not living. How long have you had the bladder issues? @Fairsome
