Does anyone know if liquid zoloft can cause burning in the throat.  I mix it with 4 ounces water like suggested but since slit dosing I've noticed more irritation.

My symptoms don't change much during the day. The nausea and air hunger  don't  let up much until late in the evening, sometimes earlier in the evening but that's rare.

I would report good effects if I was having them. I know Zoloft worked before and was desperately hoping it would work again and ease the WD.  Nothing would please me more than to come on the site with better news.

And of coarse I don't "like " taking zoloft. If

What the ****. is wrong with me? These neuro emotions are driving me nuts.  Feel like I'm loosing my mind and can't stop crying.  Anxiety and fear are thru the roof, body is tense. Never in my life have I ever been this way. I  wish I could get a break,  get my life back. I should've stayed on the zoloft.so upset about all of this.  Looking for strength some where but the cup is empty, so depleted..

Yes, the liquid can cause burning. You might want to put it in applesauce.

According to your notes, you are taking 2mg Zoloft at 10 p.m. and 2mg at 4:30 p.m.?

That was a misprint .

I am taking 2mg Zoloft at 10:00pm. And 1 mg Zoloft in the afternoon,  moving it up by 1 hour daily, as suggested.

Hang in there.  Your not losing your mind it may feel like it but it won't happen. Remember they are just that thoughts, they can't hurt you, yes they can be relentlessly scary and painful but somehow, someway, come to terms with them either by accepting and sitting in them or distraction.

Have you had any improvements since your reinstatement Feb?  It's crazy that you went for well over a year 14 months in WD and you can't find relief from your reinstatement.   I wish I could tell what is the right thing to do when it comes to these drugs😓 All I can do it try to be there for you and let you know you are not alone. 🤗

getofflex posted about the APPLE technique, which looks similar to AAF - acknowledge, accept, float.

Your WD brain is going to give you bad, negative thoughts.  Some of us call it our monkey brain.  These WD brain thoughts are based on the fact that our brains are destabilized, so the best way to deal with these thoughts is to ignore them.  You won't be able to change them, but they will go away eventually, as our brains heal.  Try this technique:

APPLE Technique

I just came across a very nice technique that really helps me.  It's called APPLE. I have printed it and have it where I can see it every day and be reminded of it so I internalize this technique.

A - Acknowledge Notice and acknowledge the thought or uncertainty as it comes to mind.

P - Pause Don't react as you normally do.  Don't react at all.  Just pause and breathe.

P - Pull Back Tell yourself this is just the thought or worry talking, and this apparent need for worry or analysis or certainty is not helpful and not necessary.  It is only a thought or feeling.  Don't believe everything you think.  Thoughts are not statements or facts.

L - Let Go Let go of the thought or feeling.  It will pass.  You don't have to respond to it.  You might imagine the thought floating away in a bubble or cloud.

E - Explore Explore the present moment, because right now, in this moment, you are OK.  Notice your breathing and the sensations of your breathing.  Notice the ground beneath you.  Look around and notice what you see, what you hear, what you can touch, what you can smell.  Right now.  Then shift your focus of attention to something else - on what you need to do, on what you were doing before you noticed the thought or worry, or do something else - mindfully - with your full attention.

@Greatful

I don't think there has been any improvement.  If  anything ,  I think I'm worse.  My  nausea/anxiety  is off the chart and I'm hardly functioning, feeling weak, hardly eating. I might have missed the reinstatement window,  I don't know.  It's getting pretty unbearable and the only thing that helps is ativan,  which I'm trying really hard to stay away from, but it eases all the symptoms and allows me to participate in life.  Trying to find "strength " but I'm so depleted.  I used to deal with things okay but I feel like I hit a wall at a high rate of speed and I just wanna curl up in a ball and cry.  Sorry,  having some dark days and no one to talk to.  I know it's up to me but I'm feeling pretty vulnerable lately.

I would really encourage real leaf peppermint tea.  I had horrible nausea early on and it works.  I lived on it for 2 months.

Just enduring this shows incredible strength.  You can always taper off if it isn't helping, you aren't on that high a dose

Hi @Upnorth

I feel your pain and I’m so sorry you’re feeling so poorly. I too am struggling to get off Zoloft after 20+ years.

I think I may have asked before, but have you considered that gravol may be exacerbating your symptoms?

See attached https://www.medbroadcast.com/drug/getdrug/gravol

it is contraindicated with SSRIs, and many of the symptoms you have are listed as side effects. Have you considered tapering off and trying peppermint as @Roserdl suggested.

Maybe slowly taper the gravol and try peppermint? I know nausea is awful and I’m sorry you are having to deal with it.

Hang in there.

Unfortunately, sounds like me, I don't think the reinstate is going to work, if it's making you this much worse after this long it's a no go, I am so sorry it didn't work

Klonopin Mar 2013 - Feb 2021 - used .000 gram scale to cut pills did very slowly from 2017-2021, had no issues stopping after final dose that was sub .5mg diazepam equivalent (If anyone wants advice for tapering Klonopin with a gram scale, feel free to ask!)

tapered off zyprexa twice over 2 weeks in my 20's, had little issue with that after about 3-4 years of use both times.

Prozac 40MG for 5 years - 2016 - 2021 (Total of 13 years of consecutive use)

(Most recent after last break, been on cumulatively in my life 14 years all times combined, 3 separate on/off occasions, all successful except most recent 3/4)

Recent Issue:  Tapered gradually from 40MG down to 0MG from May 7th - Aug 18th

Felt fine through Oct 5th, slowly started getting depression, panic, and anxiety (Was original thing I was treated for)

Decided to go back on SSRI Nov 1st, reacted very bad to 20mg reinstatement, day 1 was fine, day 2 had ADR. Doctor said to drop dosage.

Took 5mg for 2 weeks, 10mg for 2 weeks, still felt physically sick, could not take 20mg for more than 3 days, looking for advice going forward (ADR)

Not happy about it, but on 1.5mg 3x ativan and temazepam 15mg for sleep

(Was sleeping 2-3 hrs nightly prior to temazepam, was first thing that broke 2-3 hr then wide awake sleep cycle)

Main symptoms: headaches from certain foods and meds, sleep is broken, anxiety and agitation is extremely high, cortisol spike sensitive, bad in morning better at night, panic attacks, concentration is awful, focus is awful, anhedonia is awful, sensitive to light and noise, especially noise, extreme depression, intense bouts of fear, every looks and feels 'scary' at times, stress tolerance extremely low, have bouts of extreme anxiety, and bouts akathesia, and bouts extreme anticipatory anxiety over basic events/tasks. Nervous system is clearly crashed.

No Prozac for 249 days.

No truer words have ever been spoken.  This is utter torture.  Trying to do some of the suggestions but it's tuff when in a spiral.  This WD brain is so scary and I know it's not me but hard to calm the irrational thoughts.

Does this mean you don't want the reports and no more help? I've done the split dose and trying to do the suggestions.  I would report better results but I'm not getting any.  My nausea has been brutal and feel sick and weak.  I never used to feel the urge to cry so much, but lately I'm overwhelmed.

As ever, @Upnorth, what I need to know is the effect of the most recent drug change. How long have you been taking 3.5mg per day? How has your symptom pattern changed compared to 3.0mg per day?

Do you feel better or worse, on average, than when you were taking 3.0mg per day?

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Hi Ariel, I would like your opinion on my reinstatement.  I've been struggling with it for almost 5 months. I reinstated in Feb.  and I haven't stabilized.  Maybe the dose is too small,  but everytime  I tried to increase from 3.0mg to 3.5mg I would have sweating spells.  Anyway,  just wanted your opinion,  thanks .

I've been really sick lately and just wondering if the zoloft might be doing this.

Hi Upnorth,

I'm not a mod and don't have experience with proper tapering or reinstatements.

If I were you I'd listen carefully to the advice you've received from the moderators.

Altostrata offers a wealth of experience and knowledge and has successfully helped thousands of people come off of their drugs.

Are you open to Altostrata's input?

My understanding is that it can sometimes take a long time to stabilize.

Once we decide and commit to being drug-free, the journey to get off of medication can be long and uncomfortable.

Along the way we have to learn to manage symptoms and take care of ourselves differently than we may be used to.

You've received a lot of input and support from mods and fellow members on non-drug coping techniques.

This is something we all have to learn, new non-drug tools to help us get through the hard, uncomfortable work of WD recovery.

We have to dig deep and take responsibility for our own well-being. It's hard work and no one else can do it for us.

What are you currently doing to manage discomfort?

What non-drug coping techniques do you practice?

We may sometimes find ourselves in a situation in which we don't have the necessary resources to cope with the demands of the challenge.

That is valid and can happen to any one of us. It is not a personal failing, it is just how circumstances sometimes are.

Have you had a heart-to-heart talk with yourself and asked yourself honestly:

Is this something I am able to tackle right now?

If so, what are the resources available to help me get through this?

One thing is figuring out the ins and outs of reinstatement, dosage, tapering, calculating the numbers, and making a long-term game plan.

That's the easier part, and you have ample support for that thanks to the generosity and kindness of SA's unpaid volunteer staff.

It's another thing getting through the long, hard process of waiting, holding, enduring, managing the actual lived reality of what may be years of recovery. It is in many ways a long, lonely road, and even though we may find support in each other and the SA community, perhaps also in relationships out in the world, ultimately each of us go through WD individually, uniquely, and alone. We have to be able to practice patience and self-care and basic non-drug coping -- these are not optional. We have to find and practice gentle, nurturing, protective, restorative ways to help ourselves wait this out, however long it takes, in order to make it to the other side. This is necessary and at the same time it is not an easy thing to do.

I'm sorry you're struggling so much. My heart goes out to you. I trust that all of us here can relate to what you're going through.

My suggestion to you is to be honest with yourself about whether or not you want to get off meds at this time.

If the answer is yes, make that commitment to yourself. Take yourself and your commitment seriously.

Invest your time and energy to review the helpful information about non-drug coping techniques. Use this site to inform yourself and empower yourself. Read about how thousands of other people have managed symptoms, navigated and reduced stress, and successfully made it through recovery.

Take the information you discover, and along with the input and advice you've already received from moderators and others, set up a long-term strategy for yourself, making your personal goals very clear. And then -- implement the plan, one day at a time.

Practice patience. One day at a time, one step at a time, one moment at a time.

Incredibly, the moments add up, the steps add up, the days add up, and you will be moving forward and progressing.

Allow yourself to heal. Give yourself a chance.

Set up good conditions for healing to happen -- and it will happen.

Facilitate recovery -- and recovery will progress.

How are you going to help yourself through this?

How can you be your own best friend and greatest supporter, your own most faithful companion on this long road?

In solidarity, wishing you the best of luck,

A.
