The morning of I had lab work done to check my vitamin deficiency. So it could be from having too much blood drawn. My primary is going to have me wear a heart monitor for a few days. I haven't got my results back yet from blood work. I eat lots of banana. I feel real tired today.

According to a friend, the bananas in the stores these days don't have near as much potassium as they used to. When mine was low they told me to eat raisins ( I eat about a half cup -when I remember!) and prunes - if you can-  It could also be that you're drinking so  much that it's flushing everything out.

Here are some high potassium foods - if that turns out to be the problem. See what your blood work says first. Praying you get an answer to the problem.

  • Bananas, oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, apricots, grapefruit (some dried fruits, such as prunes, raisins, and dates, are also high in potassium)
  • Cooked spinach.
  • Cooked broccoli.
  • Potatoes.
  • Sweet potatoes.
  • Mushrooms.
  • Peas.
  • Cucumbers.

I felt the faint feeling today as well. It was also around lunch time even though I wasn't eating anything. I pray it subsides tomorrow, I DO NOT like this feeling. 😔 I stay hydrated. I'm guessing it has something to do with the gut/brain axis. I eat pretty healthy, well....try to on most days. Salmon, organic sweet potato, organic spinach, mostly organic.

Yes, she is still with me. I laid my head on her lap today and she rubbed my head. I am eternally grateful for her. Do you ever feel like your bringing those around you down with you? I feel so bad for crying so much around my family, but I just can't help it. And she understands, I just don't want her to get tired of me and my condition. I feel I'm pushing my children away 😥 my heart just aches for you, myself, and all of us going through this. Please know that I pray for you,  big hugs my dear!!

She sounds like a wonderful Mom! I can't imagine that she would ever get tired of you. I do know how you feel though. I worry about bringing other people down. My husband has had to take care of me since last October and even had to stop working because I couldn't be alone. I don't know how we've managed to survive to be honest. He's had to bear the whole load of me, the farm, his own health problems ( he just had a stent put in for a heart blockage) and now our son down in FL.  Plus, his Mom is the only person I have to talk to. She's 300 miles away but calls me twice a day and listens to all my troubles. She prays for me every call and never fails to assure me that I'm going to get better and lets me know that she's always there if i need her. But she's 80 years old and I hate that she is having to worry about me. I love her so much. So yes, I know exactly what you mean, Chio. I'm so thankful that we have this forum and other people who know and understand what we are going through.

How are you doing today? I've been thinking of you and praying for you this morning.

Love and hugs,

Hello Polly! Well I spent the night with my daughter and new grandbaby. I didn't get much sleep, but that's ok. My mornings all the way up til around 4ish are rough. Cried a lot, heavy chest, anxious. Went out to eat with my mom and sister. I am just not very sociable with withdrawals. Does it affect you that way also? And a lot of questions get to me too. I guess because I'm just an emotional wreck. By 7:00 this evening I am feeling pretty good, just tired. I'm so happy you have your Mother in law, God bless her. She is a Godsend. Please tell her I love her for loving you! I will keep your husband in my prayers. My dad had a stent put in his heart too. I lost his nearly 2 years ago from lung cancer.  He was a hoot, my best friend.

Welp...this day is about over, hope you sleep well tonight. Sweet dreams and big hugs!

Thank you Chio. Well,  I think you are doing very well by going out to eat and staying with your family whenever you can. I think the more often  we do "normal" things, the quicker we will heal.

I don't have any socialization at all.  My family were all  in England. But now that my Mom and Dad are gone I just have three cousins left over their. Two of them are in their 70s and in bad health. I talk to one of them on the phone every few weeks. She's been through withdrawal and knows what it's like!

We live a long way from town and I have few neighbors. Only one that I can see. She's alone also so we have started calling each other at the end of the day just to check in.

Husband was in the military so we have moved around a lot. Since he retired from the service, and we moved to the mountains, it's always been just husband, me and our son. I see the horse farrier, every six weeks. ( she trims the hooves of the horses and donkeys) I think this is why it hit me so hard when our son left. We would go for walks together or to the library. He was a big help to us on the farm also. Thank goodness we have Skype. But Lord, I miss him SOOO much! Husband's family are all in NC about 350 miles away.

I'm so glad you have your family and the new little one. This is why I think I need to try to get involved with something like the art group in our little town. I've never had a problem with loneliness before, but going through this has made me feel extremely lonely. But I think I need to be far more stable before I can join any kind of group.

I've had a couple of better days, but today I'm having some tremors and anxiety. My husband will be driving home from Florida. It's a twelve hour drive. And our son is going to be alone again. He seems to be stabilizing but I'm so afraid that he'll have another seizure while he's alone in his apartment. I'm just scared to death.

I agree, but when I'm at home my son likes to stay in his room and play his games, therefore that leaves me in the rest of rhe house alone so I like having my mom with me or I stay at her house, but then that means I have to leave my son at home by himself. He's 19, but still.

So your from England? How did you and your husband meet? Is he from there as well?

My first husband was native Australia. He was deported for life back to Australia. Long story...

I have wondered if any of my Facebook friends are dealing with this. I really do not want to put my business out there, but would love to know.

I didn't know your son hase seizures, I will surely keep him in my prayers. Does he have it under control? Is he away for college? I bet your farm and the mountains are beautiful! Lots of land for grounding in the nature🤍

It can be hard mingling, I'm not much of a social butterfly. I keep quietly to myself since the withdrawals. I try to make it to church every Sunday.

Praying for your sons health and your husband's trip home.

I know this may be corny, but there is a man on YouTube that's from Scotland and he trims cows hooves,  and I am fascinated by it  lol. My husband thought I was weird. I haven't watched it in a while.

And the dogs would chew on the clippings. Lol

Have you found that eating a particular diet helps with withdrawals any?

Hugs!

How are you Chlo? Did you get the results of your blood work?

Yes, I'm from England originally but I've been in the states for many years. My husband and I met in the military. We were both in the US Army.

Let us know how you are feeling.  I hope your young son is doing ok. It must have been so hard on him to lose his father.

Our son graduated college last year and moved away in October to start his first job. He's an ocean engineer and works for the navy.  That's what sent me into this terrible tailspin of panic and anxiety, I didn't think his leaving would affect me this way. I feel like there's a huge hole in my stomach. Of course his his health is worrying me also. His epilepsy is controlled by a special, keto type diet. He's under the care of the Dr's at Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore. They have helped many, thousands of people with this diet. Our son has only had one other seizure in the last ten years since starting the diet. But last month he ate out a number of times at Outback Steakhouse. He thought he was just eating plain chicken and broccoll but it turns out the chicken has 16 grams of carbs and the broccoli has 12g! He's only allowed 20g of carbs per day!! So he'd been getting way too many. Between that and the stress of the tornado. We're pretty sure that is what caused him to begin having problems. He seems to be stabilizing again now that he's back to preparing his own meals and counting the carbs.

I'm continuing to pray for you and your family. Sending big warm hugs.

Hello sweetheart!

My blood work came back pretty much normal, low on Vitamin D. I started back taking D3. My homeopathic doctor wants me to take 10,000 IU for a month then cut down to 5,000 IU, but I'm not going to take that much. I'm starting out at 1,000 IU then gradually increase. I don't want to take any chances of bad effects.

My son is doing ok, he is in his first year of Jr college, studying sports therapy.

He has always had a live for sports.

I know you are so proud of your son, that's a great job opportunity!

When our children leave our homes it can tear our hearts out. Leaving us with anxiety and pain. Especially when they have a health condition.  I have spent some time on the keto diet. It's great if you love cheese, meat, eggs, etc.

Tornado? Where are you located? I hope everyone is doing okay, I will keep yall in my prayers.

Other than some anxiety, panic, and tears, I am doing ok. How are you?

I am heading to a study called the "Abba Journey".

Have a blessed day my friend, love and hugs 💜

@chlo you are dealing with grief and it feels like WD.  Don't count the weeks. Just stay on the same dose and let your heart heal.  Hang in there!❤️

  1. .025 Xanax 3 x daily  Start date 10-13-2013 through 8-13-2014.  Started tapering 6-2014 to 8-2014.  Some small discomfort. 25 mg Zoloft - Start date 5-1-2014.  50mg. 6-2014.  through 7-14-2014 .  Started tapering  7-14-2014, stopped tapering 10-2014.  I did 1/4 of the dose a month.  small discomfort.  These next 3 were prescribed when I made some seriously bad choices with my thyroid medication.  Was in ER twice for possible heart attack.  INTENSE anxiety, panic, fear.   Lost 30 pounds in 2 weeks.  Thyroid levels bounced to extremes for 8 months. Dr. prescribed Zoloft 50mg  9-2105.  After 2 doses had a bad reaction passed out in my bedroom. Also prescribed Xanax .025  at the same time. 3 times daily, 4 if needed.  Was only on it about 2 weeks.  Was not working.  Trip ER they gave me an Ativan IV and it worked and lasted.  switched to Ativan. 9-24-2016. 1.5 mg Ativan - .5 mg  three x daily -start date 9/24/16.  Attempted taper start 12-16-2016. Was shaving Pills and alternating tapering AM, PM and midday dose weekly.  Buspar .5mg  -2.5mg. am and 2. 5mg. pm start date 9-26-2016 .  Lexapro .10mg  start date  - 10-26-2016. Found SA and began 10/14/2017 tapering .001 by weight of pill  every 4 days Held longer if there were was WD.    Was very sensitive to Ativan. 3-15-2018 Off midday dose - 7-16-2018 Off PM dose - OFF ATIVAN! 11-17-2018 10 mg. Lexapro. PM - 5 mg start date 10/11/2016 increased to 10 mg 2/2/17. 1-1-2019 Began tapering Lexapro.  .001 gm every 4 days.  Held longer if there was WD.  Last doses some I held a month.  OFF LEXAPRO! 2-21 2021 5 mg. Buspar  divided into two, 2.5 mg doses AM and PM- Start date 9/26/2016 Cold turkey on Dr. direction, AM and Pm  doses.  Reinstated  9-22-16. Began Buspar taper 1-29-23, .001 mg by weight of pills.  N.P. Desiccated Thyroid.  1-2023 Labs okay but not where I feel best. 60 mg. daily now but adding 15 mg. more  twice weekly for a few months then check.  Bioidentical hormones. Bi-est/Prog cream, 1/4 tsp.  1 time daily

Chlo, I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time. Yes, as Moonpie said, you are dealing with grief. I'm right there with you, just crying and crying and feeling so despondent. I think we just have to let it all out. It's exhausting! I don't know what else we can do but go through it and accept that this is the way things are right now .- I'm not good at the accepting part!

I'm praying for you at this very minute and will continue. Holding you in warm hugs and thinking about you and your precious son more than you know!

Thank you @Pollyfor your prayers and concern. My prayer group prayed for me today (hands on) having just a little tightness in my chest. I am taking my son to doctor appointment tomorrow for stress test, prayers appreciated. My cardiologist mentioned to me that I may have broken heart syndrome. It is a real condition and I realize time is the only healer along with God💜

Blessing and love to you!

For my son.

My husband's father passed at 48. His brother passed at 45. His uncle passed at 45 also. And the my husband at 57. All from massive heart attacks. My husband did not drink or smoke so I guess that's why he lived longer. He also walked daily, but had bad eating habit and high blood pressure. His brother, uncle, and Dad all drank and smoked.

I am just so worried that my son may have his dad's genes and I want to get on top of it. My son is 18. I can't lose him ❤

Oh, Chlo, my heart goes out to you!! Especially since our son has serious health problems also (epilepsy) I know how worrying it is.

I'm praying right now for your son! Praying that the stress test shows no sign of heart problems and that he hasn't inherited those genes.

Holding you in warm thoughts and prayers too!!

Let us know the outcome when you get the results.

Hello @Pollyjay

The results show a murmur. Also a drop in heart rate while sleeping. We are having a sleep study done and just watch the murmur.

Thank you for your concern,  I'm sorry I am just now answering you.

Hope you had a nice Mothers Day 🌻

Hugs!

Hello @Pollyjay

The results show a murmur. Also a drop in heart rate while sleeping. We are having a sleep study done and just watch the murmur.

Thank you for your concern,  I'm sorry I am just now answering you.

So glad to see you posting/ I was praying for you this morning and hoping all was well.

I'm sorry to see they found some abnormalities on your son's test. But at the same time, glad you got the test done and now you know what's going on and the docs can keep on top of it. I'll be praying for you both.

Yes, Mother's day was nice. I hope yours was too.

Yes please take a picture of Clementine and Chlo, I'd love to see them! My grandson is growing, he weighed 6 pounds at birth, now weighing 11 pounds on 1 month. Cluster nursing at the moment. He just recently had his lip and tongue tie revised so he could use some prayers for a speedy recovery.

Have a blessed day, love and hugs🤍

So as you already know I have been tapering Escitalopram liquid and currently at 3.75ml holding.

I was on Citalopram for 20 years and it worked great. But when I got covid this past August it stopped working. That's when my gp changed my meds. But the new meds did not work either. My question is: Do you think if I switched back to the Citalopram to my current dose of Escitalopram, and continued tapering the Citalopram, that my withdrawals would stabilize? Because my withdrawals are so harsh and I'm not sure if I have ever felt what stabilizing is. I have not tapered in almost 2 months and I don't feel any stabilizing. Matter of fact, I feel horrible.

Also....I think most of my wd seem to be at there worse from morning to about 5 pm. Thinking this is from the Mirtazapine that I take at night. By 5pm it seems to be worn off. Could I stop tapering the Escitalopram and start tapering the Mirtazapine?

So...1st question: Do you think if I switched back to Citalopram, it would start working again and I slowly taper off of it?

2nd question: Could I start taper on Mirtazapin instead of continuing taper of Escitalopram?

Like I said, I haven't tapered in almost 2 months and my was are so bad: extreme anxiety and panic attacks,

jaw clenching, dizziness, feeling of passing out, depression, fright.

Thank you for your time, Love Chlo

Hugs

I don't know the answer to the question about switching to citalopram, @Chlo You've been taking escitalopram for 6 months. You've had a lot of upsets. Generally, it's best to keep drug switches to a minimum.

And, if your feeling terrible is because of hangover from mirtazapine, switching to citalopram would be an unnecessary risk. If you want, you can hold on your escitalopram dosing and start to carefully reduce mirtazapine. If that causes you to feel better, they may be no reason to consider another drug switch.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Thank you for your response @Altostrata I'm going to stay put for another few weeks and then decide if I'm ready to start the slow taper of Mirtazapine.

I'm going to check with my gp to see if I can get it in liquid form.

Have a wonderful weekend 💚 hugs!

Hello! @pinkfairy

A dear friend of this site has mentioned you. I told her I was going to start my Mirtazapine taper, but I'm not sure how to taper the pill form. I cannot get the liquid form in the states where I live. I read in your signature that you successfully tapered the Mirt. Would you so kindly share with my how you accomplished the mirt taper, please ❤

Anyone that can help me with how to taper Mirtazapine. From what I have read, liquid form is not available in the states..

I'm not familiar with scales or dilution. I'm scares and not sure which way to start the process.

Thank you for suggestions 😊

Alto has suggested slow and low taper, which I will do per her advice, but I'm just stuck on how to make the cuts.

Using a scale to weigh and measure doses

Tips for tapering off mirtazapine (Remeron)

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper. Last dose June 24, 2024

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

The suggestions I make are based on personal experience.

Hi @Chlo! How are you?

Mirtazapine is very slightly soluble in water. Even so, you can prepare a suspension in water using your pill.
I am preparing the suspension of quetiapine and it is working.
All the best, Fantini.

2012 - 2022: 10 years on Seroquel starting at 25mg and working up to 100mg (for insonia)

aug 2021 - dez 2021: decrease my dose by 50% every month (100 mg, 50 mg, 25 mg, 12,5 mg, 0 mg)

fev 2021: start 100 mg of Lyrica (for anxiety and it gives me akathisia)

mar 2022: decrease my dose by 50% (akathisia)

apr 2022: reinstart 0.5 mg Seroquel

@Fantini I've decided to just continue my taper of Escitalopram. I will wait to taper Mirtazapine afterwards. Hopefully doing so will ease a lot of my discomfort. When it is time to taper the Mirt I will get in touch with you on the how to's. Thank you for your response!
