Angus
@Chlo I think I remember reading a member’s post regarding surgery she had recently. She met with Angela Peacock before the procedure to go through the meds she was going to use. Mezzer
@Chlo Chlo a suggestion could be Angie has a tapering support group meeting every other Tuesday at 7 eastern on zoom. It’s now open. It’s 20.00 per group. I’m sure you could ask her during the meeting. Just a thought. It’s also a good group 1993 started 20mg Prozac. 2008 switched to 10mg of lexapro. 2015 added 50mg of Wellbutrin. Between 2015 and 2020 raised and lowered dosage of both. 2021 moved to Zoloft for one month then back to lexapro for one month. Then switched to 60mg cymbalta for four months. Then Basically cold turkeyed off cymbalta in two weeks using Prozac as a crossover med to reduce withdrawals. Not good. Then had Nortriptylene added to Prozac. Was on 20mg Prozac and 50mg of Nortriptylene for four months. Then did a four month ween off Nortriptylene. To date have been off cymbalta for approximately 11 months and Nortriptylene 7 weeks. Presently taking 12.5 mg Prozac. Also taking 10 mg of bystolic for BLood Pressure. I’m not sure how the Prozac makes me feel. It does nothing to make me feel not sad and anxious at times. I finally figured out the meds are not what I need. What I need is to get off the 12.5mg of Prozac and continue to work on my stuff. Any help is deeply appreciated thank you. Reduced from 12.5 to 10 then from 10 to 7.5. Too much of a drop. Bought a scale and went to 9. Stabilized and went to 8.2 oct 1, 2022. Just got hit with wicked low mood, high anxiety, fatigue, chills. The anxiety is high in the AM and lessons throughout the day. Hoping to stabilize soon Link to comment
Moderator Onmyway Posted February 22 Moderator Share Posted February 22 Hi @Chlo, I am not particularly knowledgeable about these. However, I have had two minor surgeries where I was sedated during withdrawal and I did not react at all to propofol. I asked not to have midazolam (also known as versed) which is a benzo and is used routinely. I told them that I react to benzos - since WD started I tried benzos for a month but what before used to make me calm and happy is now making me nauseous and having opposite effect (tried clonazepam and alprazolam). They said it was not essential - i.e. my procedure can go along perfectly fine without it. I don't know that I would have reacted to it at all, probably would have been fine but at the time did not want to take chances. The one medicine that I have heard a few times mentioned here as causing serious issues even without withdrawal was metoclopromide (ppl sometimes spell is as metaclopromide) it is a D2 antagonist (impacts dopamine receptors). I have also not had issues with lidocaine/novocaine for dental procedures - these are numbing agents. Have a look here: Hope your surgery goes well. Usually the anesthesiologist should talk to you ahead of the procedures. While many doctors deny withdrawal, I have found that neurologists/anesthesiologist are more aware of the effects of these drugs and can recognize at least adverse effects and sensitization. Good luck @Chlo! 1 "Nothing so small as a moment is insurmountable, and moments are all that we have.
