@Onmyway thanks for sharing! Do you have a recommendation for magnesium? I take one but am curious about others.

The post talked about seeing symptoms as the effects of a brain healing from a nerve injury. I like this.

it makes me wonder about how an updose would affect the healing process though.

I was feeling hopeful with the updose… and hope it doesn’t rock the boat more.

is there a post that explains how an updose would help balance out or mitigate symptoms?

I am going from .683 to .695.

@Tapering2023

I have only ever done two updoses - one where I went to 2.5mg from 0 after a month when I first discovered withdrawal from Mark Horowitz's paper which is technically a reinstatement and once when I discovered that I dropped by 50% by accident, so within a week (as soon as I  discovered) I went up to make it so it was a 25% drop instead of a 50%. I didn't want to go to the full amount.

I'm a believer in keeping things as stable as possible.  I think of withdrawal as also a disruption rather than just lack of a saturation of the receptors especially after some time has passed from the drop.  If it were the latter - we just needed to get the receptors some medicine again we'd all get better as soon as we reinstated/updosed. But that's not what we observe,  especially after it's been a certain amount of time and changes have occurred in the other systems in the brain as well.  The post that I linked describes some of those changes, many more we have no idea about.

To me every change is another challenge for the body to adapt to yet another new status quo. I know in desperation we all feel like we need to do something - it's a cognitive bias known as the action bias but in my opinion (we have no hard data here) keeping things stable is better once a some time has passed. https://www.behavioraleconomics.com/resources/mini-encyclopedia-of-be/action-bias/

I can't tell you that an updose is not going to help,  none of us know. But if I were making that decision for myself,  I'd stay put personally.

I really wish we had better data.

@Onmyway please man no. I had hope for this. Actually had some hope for once and it was just taken away. I have to updose and already did yesterday. I have to have hope for something. I can’t live like this for months or years. I can’t get one answer from someone then another answer from another. I need some relief to look forward to timeline wise. The not knowing how long is killing me. I did the updose and am having faith in it to bring relief and I ask that this decision be supported not torn down after a day of back and forth making the decision.

Hi @Tapering2023 you asked and I gave you my opinion. You do what you want with your own medicines - we are not doctors and even if we were we do not have the answers.

And even doctors regularly give conflicting advice.

It is your body and your choice to do what you want with it.

Hey @Tapering2023 . One thing I have learned is once you make a decision just work with it in bringing success. As OMW said, it is her opinion and experience. Emonda has updosed and he has had success. Hundreds on here have updosed with success. Holding your dose for  months wasn't working. I know some who have held for more than 2 years with no change. Be happy with the decision. As you mentioned before, something messed up when you switched to weighing the syringe, it was a huge drop and your body is not having it. You are doing well. One day at a time.

Second day of updose was just taken.

The symptom that causes every other symptom is the persistent harm thoughts and images.

It’s the same thought and image (even urge) 200 times a day at least.

I just don’t know how someone can possibly live like this for this long.

I need a go to coping strategy but the issue is I only have so much energy to cope and the thoughts don’t go away.

I can cope about 50% of the day and I worry that my energy is running out to be able to fight the urges.

It’s honestly ridiculous that this is a symptom of a drug that’s supposed to help you.

I didn’t even have depression before I got prescribed this thing.

sorry. I’m just venting. I have to use every ounce of energy I have all day doing mental gymnastics to try and keep myself centered. I fail half the day and panic and get thrown intense SI contemplation now as I don’t have a life really anymore.

im barely getting projects done at my online job and I couldn’t do calls today because I was just fighting and trembling from the thoughts.

This updose is my last hope that these thoughts and graphic images fade away. I don’t see how doing anything else will

Help me. Other medications will just make things worse and going in somewhere will

make things worse because of the trauma of that.

.6ml was the syringe dosage I was last stable, which comes out to around .825 on the weighing scale.

I went to the weighing scale though for the purpose of being more accurate.

I am not sure why I started taking .672mg on the weighing scale as that was a lot lower… even lower than .55ml with the syringe.

I tried updosing 2 months ago from .672 to .683, and nothing happened.

So doing the math from the first figure of 0.825mg weight, your drop to 0.672 mg was 19% . The dose you are now taking is a 2% updose from 0.683 mg and a total 3% updose from that 0.825 mg.

Like I mentioned, we have to find that sweet spot between then and now since your body has made some adjustments to the lower dose.

Your reactions are unfortunately too common. You will heal. Others have.

Do you feel better after taking your dose? Would it help to move the dose to the morning? (1-2 hours earlier each day) Then maybe you could sleep through the worst if it?

I know most suggest taking ADs in the morning. I wonder if it would help. Do you have any issues with sleep? It can cause insomnia for some.

3rd day of updose. Yesterday was actually a bit better.

Today I have started out terribly. Having homicidal thoughts I’ve never had before.

But the change shouldn’t be felt for 7-10 correct?

You can start feeling change within a day but usually it takes 7-10 to get the full effect. The effects of these drugs are horrible and unfortunately many have had those same reactions. Did you change the time of your dose? I think probably the time should stay at 10:30 pm till we see the full effect of this updose. I am sure your body can only handle one change at a time. Glad yesterday was a bit better. Let's hope that is the trend. 👍

You will pull through this. We can draw on the fact that others have been worse and have come out successful. Can you take a medical leave or have modified duties? Do you have a support system? It is hard for others to fully understand this I know.

Some members that have tapered off Lexapro or are tapering off it may have insights as well. Happy2Heal, sand it and Nicolas45140 are a few. Looking through their threads and asking them specifics may help. Nocolas45140 has had appointments with Mark Horowitz as well.

I just don’t know when or even if I’m healing. Two updoses. Still on the meds. How does one really know healing is even happening? There’s paradoxical reactions, withdrawal, tolerance, all these factors that I have no certainty about. I really don’t understand how I can just continue living suffering like this everyday with the possibility of healing and not even a guarantee.

Hello, Do you suppose that taking more mg will get rid of WD?
I ask because I am asking myself same question.
I have IBS, depression and waking up at night.
I stopped 0.20 mg in November and I regret a bit because maybe I should not quit but increase and I would get rid of IBS and insomnia - but it even sounds ridiculous so unrealistic
We are not taking yet benzo maybe this is something to be happy about

2022 escitalopram from July 25 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg August-December- 7.5 mg, 5 mg, (1 month) 2.5 mg - C/T
WD
2023 Short reinstatement from WD date:

escitalopram May 25-June 12 5 mg, 2.5 mg plus interrupted

Reinstatement 24 07.23 0.5mg escitalopram, 18.08.23 0.22 escitalopram, 07.09. 0.28
Now 0.30 mg escitalopram

Last year 6 months on escitalopram, I was very agitated, hypomaniacal and with little need for sleep.
Since July 2023 reinstated and reduced from 0.50 mg to 0.30 mg Lexapro - difficulty sleeping and lack of sleep, eye pain and IBS. Anhedonia.

November 2023 - 0mg

We all have to keep hope alive. You just can't go down that rabbit hole. I know for myself that I have made good progress despite thinking I would never get this far. I have a long way to go and it will take a long time. You are at a very small dose. Be patient, you have come so far. This too will pass.

Just so hard for me to see hope especially since I’ve just had more intrusive thoughts 3rd day in of an updose. And it only gets stronger on a updose each day. Not sure how it could help after today. I hope to God it does by some miracle.

Benzos dont stop thoughts either. Propanalol didn’t, I tried that a few times in December. Nothing.

@Tapering2023 I put 'grounding sheets' in the search on here and a few have tried them with good results. Make sure you use the single quote mark with the words to do the search.

I did a 'red light therapy ' search on here. This is a whole section devoted to it. I myself use a special red night light that I keep on through the night to lessen the cortisol rush and I think it helps with that also.
