Hi Luv2knit,

Just dropping by your thread to check on you. It sounds like you're finding some relief from the akathesia, yeah! I know how awful that can be. I also hope your cold clears up sooner rather than later. Oh, and glad you have your notifications back.

I understand the feeling of isolation, it can be quite daunting. But everyone here probably knows that feeling to some degree so you are not alone.

Sending you blessings, healing and peace of mind. XOXO

Awoke at 2:00 a.m. with panic and depression. Both are fairly rare for me. I have the early morning anxiety about once a week now.

Got on FB about 6:00 and saw the news about Mitch. He was two weeks ahead of me in withdrawal, and had finally given up and gone back on (a different drug) a couple of months ago. What followed was a suicide attempt, a series of changes in meds/dosages, and now apparently a successful suicide attempt :( All this after being told to go cold turkey by his doctor. Sad day...

A ŵww so sad..xx

2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare!

On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect.

Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan.

Nightmare that could have been avoided!

I'm so sorry, Luv. This is all so sad.

Mitch isn't suffering anymore. He is with God now.

Prayers for Mitch and his family.

Prayers for you too, Luv. This is all probably effecting you.

Love, Pug

January 2012 - Prescribed 900mg gabapentin and 30mg Norco for lower lumber spinal stenosis pain.

September 2013 - Spinal fusion surgery, 6 levels. Hospital ramped up meds 1500mg gabapentin, 100mg Norco, 80mg Oxycontin, 25mg Fentanyl patch.

January 2014 - Sever nausea daily and with back pain every 4 hours. 2 trips to ER. First endoscopy found ulcer. Treated with Sucralfate and PPI. Second endo in May found no ulcers. Doctors said it was the opiates causing the nausea. CT'd Oxycontin, Fentanyl patch.

July 2014 - Lost 48 lbs. due to not eating because of severe nausea. GP prescribed Prozac 20mg and Ativan 2mg prn. Tried for 4 days, quit. Two week followup GP said keep taking Prozac. 4 days, quit again. Ativan taken rarely prn for anxiety and appetite.

August 2014 - Went to detox. Off opiates. Still nauseous, helmet head, drugged feeling. Doctor CT'd gabapentin. Ended up in ER. Found 2 gallstones. Gabapentin reinstated at 900mg. Tried botched up and down taper to get off Gabapentin. No tapering advice from doctor. Said to just CT again.

September 2014 - Coded on table during gallbladder surgery. Developed liver biloma due to CPR by doctor. Had bile bulb inserted for 2 wks to drain.

October 2014 - Gallbladder removed. Still nauseous, 3am cortisol surging, drugged helmet head, vertigo, breathlessness, whooshing head, heart palps.

November 8th, 2014 - CT'd gabapentin suggested by family and 4 different doctors. Was told no withdrawal is associated with gabapentin. Have been in hell ever since. No windows, just one big tsunami every day with same symptoms for 4 months.

December 26, 2014 - Found SA. At least I know I'm not insane. My family thinks I'm doing this to myself. Akathesia has become unbearable.

March 10, 2015 - In absolute daily hell with no relief. Currently taking magnesium 200mg before bedtime.

I have no words to describe how upset I am about what happened to Mitch. I didn't know him personally, but I know he must have been terrified, alone and desperate. No human being should ever feel this way. I hate what these drugs did to him, and I hate what they're doing to us. This is murder. This is criminal. This is inhumane.

I suffer from depression, anxiety, pure-o ocd, and panic attacks since 2004. Been on multiple different psychiatric drugs since 2006. Never had a significant WD problem before, only brain zaps for a month and then I'd be fine...............Been on Cipralex (escitalopram) 15 mg and Fluanxol (flupentixol) 1 mg since Sep 2014. Stopped taking the Cipralex after a fast 20-day taper.Took the last 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 5th, 2015. Then took Seroxat (paroxetine) 10 mg for a week, and stopped it too. Severe WD started suddenly on Feb 16th. RI 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 18th, 2015. RI worked and was relatively stable for a while................April 7 - decreased Fluanxol from 1 mg to 0.5 mg and took it at this dose for a week. - BIG MISTAKE; April 13 - WD starts creeping in; April 14 - RI full dose of Fluanxol 1 mg => severe muscle twitching and jerking when trying to relax and fall asleep, overwhelming sense of doom, dread, terror, and horror, insomnia, hoping to stabilize.
Tried doing a 10% cut off Fluanxol in the end of May for a few days, but quickly updosed to full dose because the twitching returned.
Experiencing waves and windows in the following months.
Unsuccessful brief taper attempt of Fluanxol by 5% on November 1st. Symptoms hit the next day. Too scared to continue tapering, reinstate full dose.
Severe crash in November after stupidly trying a barbiturate on November 9th. Grave mistake. Sense of unshakable inescapable internal torture, like my soul is in hell being tortured, terror/horror/dread/doom (probably akathisia?) that gets especially bad when trying to relax and fall asleep, muscles twitch, jerk and move on their own, shaking, insomnia, can't eat, confusion, disorientation, brain not working normally. Never felt so bad in my entire life. Never experiment with other meds while in WD! Praying to God I stabilize and get back to my baseline.
December - things getting even worse.

January - unbearable suffering

Who was Mitch? What was his screen name on SA?

My heart is really breaking for him even though I have no idea who he was. This sounds like pure negligence on the part of the doctor if the doctor told him to cold turkey. When is the mainstream media going to pick up on what is happening to people everyday because of these drugs? They refuse to connect the dots with some of these mass shootings. It always blamed on mental illness so no one bothers to question whether drugs played a role.

Luv2knit I want to post something to you because I know you "virtually" knew Mitch and in reading his thread I can see how you tried to help him. I could feel the desperation in your posts. It was as if you were a mother pleading for the life of her child the way you advocated for him.

You were his angel and now he is your angel.

Mitch's passing has me very shaken up because it's almost as if I can feel his suffering and I also know how horrible is to feel like you have to take your own life to find relief.

I know you have a lot of faith in God so please don't be offended when I say this terrible story has me feeling like God has just given up on some of us. Please, please, please don't be offended. It is not my intent to disparage your faith or be in any way insulting. Maybe you can say some extra prayers for Mitch. I want to do so myself but I feel like God has given up on me too.

I wish you blessings and good health.

You could not have done more. You  obviously cared about him very much. You're a very caring person.  This is very sad. Stay strong & look after yourself through this difficult time.  Lots of love,  Ali.

I am so sorry that I upset everyone yesterday with the news of Mitch's death. I of all people know how fragile we all are right now. I suppose I looked at the "RIP" post as a tribute to him, in a group where people actually care and understand. The response to it was not something I expected at all. I very much appreciate all of you who stopped by and left your sentiments. To those of you who were upset enough to feel you need a break, I am so, so sorry.

It's very sad that we are all going through this, and the way the general public--even the medical community--perceives us is even sadder. The other boards I shared with Mitch were not withdrawal boards. While one of these boards was very supportive, and Mitch had many friends, they were filled with people who are on the drug, love the drug, and one group especially has members who were/are very adamant about NOT wanting to hear all the "negative things" (withdrawal stories) about the drug. When Mitch was in the psych ward, one woman even messaged me, telling me she did not think Mitch was legit. I informed her firsthand about the evils of withdrawal, but I'm sure she didn't believe me either. Thank you all again for your support.

Love you all.

Thanks, ang and Frustrated.

Bad day today. Just been one of those days when everything ramps up more and more as the day goes on :(

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

Took a look back over my journal yesterday, and found things to actually not be QUITE as encouraging as I thought. (That was a little depressing.). Usually I am overly pessimistic, as opposed to being overly optimistic. Still moving forward, though. Yesterday actually got a little better as day went on.

Still having some "cold" symptoms, but discontinued the garlic yesterday. While I don't feel it was causing me any major issues (it definitely is doable to head off any worsening issues), I feel I was having some stomach issues, and my body temp was even lower than normal on it. We noticed this happened to my daughter when she took it to ward off colds or respiratory infections, so I don't think it was coincidence. Maybe things will settle down even more now (?)

I am more than ready to be through with this akathisia, but it clearly has other ideas. Hopefully in time it will end :(

Thinking of you today and hoping you are surviving well.  Sending you positive hopes of thriving as well as surviving!

1986-2005:  Limbitrol (15 Librium/ 50 Elavil combo) 1986-2005, 2005-successfully tapered Librium

January of 2009-2011:  Mirtazapine 30 mg; Cymbalta 60 mg; tapered cymbalta fall/winter of 2011/12

March 2012-March 2014:  Mirtazapine, and various trials of Celexa, Zoloft, Wellbutrin and Lexapro; began Lexapro taper

9/18/14-Lexapro .7 mg; Mirtazapine 30 mg; 9/29/14 ditched Lexapro; added 25 mg Nortryptyline began mirtazapine taper

11/4/14:  Mirtazapine 15 mg; Nortryptyline about 12.5 mg; 1/17/15:  Mirtazapine 7.5 mg; Nortryptyline 2.5 mg, then jumped nortryptyline.

2/10:  Mirtazapine 1.875, 2/11:  Re-established at 6.75, 3/19-6.0 mg, 4/9-5.8, 4/17-6.3; 4/21 tried to re-establish at 7.5

4/23/15-Back to 5.8; 5/5-5.1mg; 5/16-4.6 mg; 5/24-4.2 mg; 6/2-3.9 mg; 6/9-3.6 mg; 6/16-3.3 mg; 6/23-3 mg

6/28-2.8 mg; 7/2-2.5 mg; 7/4-Jumped, due to increased misery from the drug itself.

In a spell of panic due to agitation and insomnia, went through a few days each of 10, then 5 mg amitryptyline and 5 mg librium. Did not work out well. Horrible insomnia now.

Thanks, DS, Trish, and Selma.

Have had a rough couple of days. Yesterday afternoon and evening were a little lighter with the akathisia, but I woke up about 4:00 this morning with panic and/or akathisia. Sometimes in the mornings, it is hard to tell what is what. I usually don't actually get out of bed until about 6:30 (although awake much earlier), but I am finding it difficult to lay here. Hoping this passes somewhat.

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers.

One halfway decent day, followed by a horrible day! Pretty much the pattern now. At least this time, it was pretty much a whole decent day instead of just half. I expected a less than wonderful day to follow (just the pattern with me), and I know the reason for it being especially bad was stress. Praying for a better day today... At least somewhat better... Please!
