btdt: introducing myself

i was wanting to mention to you (but your PM box is usually full these days)---perhaps one of the reasons you have a lot of trouble with technological glitches or failures is your EM field.  people with neurological illness are often emanating EM fields differently than healthy people, and shifting states or extreme states can impact surrounding electronics.  computers, hard drives, wireless signals, and even things like street lamps can be interfered with or damage through exposure to some types of fields or field changes.

hopefully youll find a way to be back around before the summer is up.

Pm box is good to go now

Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Good luck, BTDT.  You are inspiring , in your tenacity, and helpfulness.  :)

Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014

What happen to your computer? Maybe I can help you (depend of what).

About supplements, don't give up... sometimes is difficult. My mother bought to me the other day a "multivitaminum", what got B1, B2, B3, B6, B8, B9, B12, D3, selenium and even royal jelly, all in one (what a combo). Well I give a shot, she bought that thinking on me for feel better. I take one and I was very sleepy all day, so.... XD is better try one per one and maybe you will find the right thing.

The only thing I'm using right know is the coffee, due to low blood pressure and as you, for migraine, sometimes helps others not, but I prefer that to a painkiller.

Keep us updated!

2005: sertraline + clorazepate until summer 2006, I quit very slowly without any problem and feeling even better.

2008 (around, I don't remember) I tried fluoxetine but leave the second day after a extrapidamidal syndrome.

2010: mirtazapine 30 mg + diazepam 10 mg, both everyday

2011: I tried to quit mirtazapine with the help of the psychiatrist, but nothing. I visit other psychiatrist and everyhing fails when escitalopram+mirtazapine and adding orfidal instead of diazepam, then I was 50mg every 12 hours of clorazepate for fix the damage of the new medication and I back to mirtazapine+diazepam.

2014: still with mirtazapine+diazepam, I quit diazepam, but then I back due I was not feeling better as I expected, I did like this: June 30/20mg, July 15/10mg, August 5mg, September just around 6 days 5mg, October 0, November 0, December back to 5/10, January same.

2015: Trying to quit mirtazapine since August, August was alternating few days between 30/22.5/15, September 22.5/15mg, October 15mg, November 15mg, December 15/7.5/0, January 15/7.5/0.

My diagnostic before 2010 (all by doctors) was depression and anxiety, in 2010 was diagnostic with depression, anxiety, avoidant personality disorder, pineal cyst and don't remember if something more.

Diagnostic since summer 2014 (all by doctors) is the same adding basal anxiety, agorofobia, anhedomia, depersonalization, derealization, hypothymia, asthenia. I will add obsesive compulsive disorder.

Home alone mostly Muddles... it is hot here I was reading your thread some today not all of it since I have been gone but some enough to know you seen a  doc about mirgraines who thinks your memory issues are from migraines... ya they said the same **** to me my tests results could be from mirgraines and that report read that I was too young to be having a brain that looked like that... whatever they dont' want to do any follow up and can't fix it I guess..

Not sure I would trust them if they said they had a cure as they lied before didn't they .... LIARS!

I hope juicing helps and I hope you don't lose your home... cause bad as all the rest is it is just made worse when all you know and all your security is gone...

for some reason this song has been on my mind.. one for the money two for the show... it has an old version that seems human to me...

One for the money

Two for the show

Three to get ready

And four to go.

I have travelled all over this land

And one sad thing I do find:

When the wide road calls

You must leave friends and all,

Leaving a song behind

For a while,

Leaving a song behind.

One for the money-- sing for a penny

Two for the show-- any song that I know

Three to get ready-- wide road is pretty

And four to go

And four to go.

Some value money

And some value fame

Some value women and wine;

But a song and a friend

'Round each turn of the bend

Are riches I'd rather were mine

Anytime,

Riches I'd rather were mine.

One for the money

Two for the show

Three to get ready

And four to go.

Now I am gone

May my wish linger on,

Its echo fall soft on your ear.

May your riches increase

May you all live in peace

And happiness grow every year

My friend,

Happiness grow every year.

One for the money-- sing for a penny

Two for the show-- any song that I know

Three to get ready-- wide road is pretty

And four to go,

It's been good to know you;

And four to go:

A long, long way to go.

I so miss human....

I wish you peace will come back when I can get here...

welcome back, btdt. :)  i was a little worried :mellow:that i'd have go all over the web looking for you :excl:

but here u are!

2009: Cancer hospital said I had adjustment disorder because I thought they were doing it wrong. Their headshrinker prescribed Effexor, and my life set on a new course. I didn't know what was ahead, like a passenger on Disneyland's Matterhorn, smiling and waving as it climbs...clink, clink, clink.

2010: Post surgical accidental Effexor discontinuation by nurses, masked by intravenous Dilaudid. (The car is balanced at the top of the track.) I get home, pop a Vicodin, and ...

Whooosh...down, down, down, down, down...goes the trajectory of my life, up goes my mood and tendency to think everything is a good idea.
2012: After the bipolar jig was up, now a walking bag of unrelated symptoms, I went crazy on Daytrana (the Ritalin skin patch by Noven), because ADHD was a perfect fit for a bag of unrelated symptoms. I was prescribed Effexor for the nervousness of it, and things got neurological. An EEG showed enough activity to warrant an epilepsy diagnosis rather than non-epileptic ("psychogenic") seizures.

:o 2013-2014: Quit everything and got worse. I probably went through DAWS: dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome. I drank to not feel, but I felt a lot: dread, fear, regret, grief: an utter sense of total loss of everything worth breathing about, for almost two years.

I was not suicidal but I wanted to be dead, at least dead to the experience of my own brain and body.

2015: I  began to recover after adding virgin coconut oil and organic grass-fed fed butter to a cup of instant coffee in the morning.

I did it hoping for mental acuity and better memory. After ten days of that, I was much better, mood-wise. Approximately neutral.

And, I experienced drowsiness. I could sleep. Not exactly happy, I did 30 days on Wellbutrin, because it had done me no harm in the past.

I don't have the DAWS mood or state of mind. It never feel like doing anything if it means standing up.

In fact, I don't especially like moving. I'm a brain with a beanbag body.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

Rest well and come back all better.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Ok, so I was worried about you. I'll admit it :). I'm sorry about your hernia, but I was imagining worse. Hope you are healing well!

1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to mania 6/2006--then I was taken abruptly off Cymbalta and didn't know I had SSRI withdrawal. Lots of meds for my intractable "bipolar" symptoms.

Zyprexa started about 9/06, mostly 5mg. Tapered 4/12 through12/29/12

Wellbutrin. XL 300 mg started 1/07, tapered 1/18/13 through 7/8/13

Oxazepam mostly continuously since 6/06, 30mg since 12/12, tapered 1.17.14 through 8.26.15

11/06 Lithium 600mg twice daily, 2.2.14 400mg TID DIY liquid, 2.12.14 1150mg, 3.2.14 1100mg, 3.18.14 1075mg, 4/14 updose to 1100mg, 6.1.14 900 mg capsules 7.8.14 810mg, 8.17.14 725mg, 8.24.24 700mg...10.22.14 487.5mg, 3.9.15 475mg, 4.1.15 462.5mg 4.21.15 450mg 8.11.15 375mg, 11.28.15 362.5mg, back to 375mg four days later, 3.4.16 updose to 475 (too much going on to risk trouble)

9/4/13 Toprol-XL 25mg daily for sudden hypertension, tapered 11.12.13 through 5.3.14, last 10 days or so switched to atenolol

7.4.14 Started Walsh Protocol

56 years old

Hello all and thanks for checking on me and I surely understand why folks would think the worst glad to put those worries to bed... the hernia as it turns out I have two and they will be repaired when I get place in line so far I have no call and am told the wait time is 4-6 months.

I do wonder if they have been the source of some of this pain that is always blamed on that sorry broken rib from the car accident... I do wonder.  They are incisional hernias from having my gallbladder out in 98 one in the centre was dx by shouldice that famous clinic in 2006 or so... I was to have a open repair be in hosp 4 days a big and involved thing no doubt as most of their patients go home the same day. Oddly enough the new surgeon says he will put in a couple stitches for that hernia ...end of story.  The new hernia that popped out is the right side same as the broken rib... it is bigger will require a patch most likely ... I told him I am not crazy about the use of mesh as I hear it slips and ends up in places it is not meant to be ... I don't need that.. he said he would see when he did it but it quite sure it will need a patch.

When I went to shouldice it was for a different hernia the centre one was dx there though I had no symptoms there... I went there for a suspected groin hernia they said I did not have one but had this incisional hernia in the center it was never fixed.

I have half a mind to go back to shouldice and get a second opinion... my weight would be a problem for them again weigth is way more now than it was the first time I went there.

Other things well holding on best I can and I miss you guys too.

wishing you all peace

  • 1 month later...

I have a donated computer now with a broken power cord so may keep posts short rather than lose any big work.  Nice to be connected again.

Update:

I have been sick about a month no hernia repair news yet they said 4-6 months wait so still in that zone.

New thing fever body pain 5 days beat that I thought no drugs had blood work that seemed odd... then bam sick again cough this time.

It has been wks now.

was given a ceftin type drug cephorsporin family sorry I am not clicking right and not up to looking it up... had an anaphalactic reaction huge hives filled with water and mouth chin ect swelling ended up in emerg got prednisone tho I react to that too... by day 4 I could not lift my head off the pillow felt like my brain had swollen way bigger than my skull...I did not have to use the epi pen ... than my blessings as they come where they come...

as I react to epinephrine at the dentist in the past and it is the same as the norepinephrine in good old effexor... I don't need it but I was told this is how it is... you have to take prednisone to stop the swelling as the other was not working and you have to use the epi or die... so that was that.. off I went and did not need the epi... I took the prednisone half the time they said 4 out of 8 days was told I could stop when the face swelling was gone and it was but my brain felt like it had swollen.... maybe it moved to my brain.

been all  rattled and shook up mentally of late it takes me a long time to recover from prednisone been off less that a wk... since I quit I had a reaction to a tomato sandwich with lime and can't think of the word... hmm..

so I looked up low histamine food and ate what I had in the house ... asparagus soup and peppermint tea for a few days ...

I keep thinking it has all passed and I will be better soon then then the fever comes back still sneezing and coughing wondering if it is in part a histamine problem....

any ideas????

Nice to see you back btdt but sorry to hear you have not been good.

The drug you took was an antibiotic - I've never heard of it though?

Thing is - we cannot tolerate medication. Antibioitics or anything else damages us further. I have had this confirmed and put in my notes thanks to Dr Healy. I don't know what will happen if I ever needed anything but since I hit poop-out I have not had any illness at all which is odd but I suppose it's better than being the other way.

It's really tough to be sick and need stuff that you can't tolerate. What a battle.

Definitely sounds like you have histamine issues and I would look into sorting your diet. How scary that must have been for you - the anaphylactic shock!! Have you ever had one of those before?

I have been thinking of you a lot. I hope you manage to find something that can help you.

I likely called it the wrong name had a headache and trying to keep the pain pills I have for emergencies... gave in and took one now... so I can think better. this is the drug

Ceftin is in a group of drugs called cephalosporin (SEF a low spor in) antibiotics. It works by fighting bacteria in your body.Ceftin is used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms.

No I have not had a reaction that affected my breathing or caused me to swell up like that this is the first time but I have had this family of drug a lot the last few years and  have had terrible gut reactions to it and had to stop eating more than once.  This time I have severe pain after three days... gut pain left side so bad I thought I had another hernia I went on a soup diet hit the shouldice clinic famous for hernias... they said it wasn't a hernia I did not get to see the surgeon I wanted and I may go back to see that particular doc... I am having second thoughts about the hernia surgery... scared to do it and want to know exactly what will be done not the way it stand now ... as in he will see when he gets in there  not good enough.

I have had other reactions skin which I had this time too I had a type of hives this time but they were the size of my  hand and full of fluid... raised rather high.  I did not know I was having anaphalatic and went to my doc for the huge hive like things waiting twice one in the clinic then again in her office when they sent me to her... she had a fit when she seen me... said never wait when your having anaphalactic I did not know that was what I was having ... yes it was very scary... I so did not want to take the prednisone wish they had a different drug... did not want the epi either could you imagine what the fallout from that would be on a person like us... I don't want to find out.

Part of the reason I am rethinking surgery... too risky maybe I just don't know.

I am so glad your one of the ones who has had an immune boost from all this I have been the complete opposite my health stared failing in pooped out took ages to get any stability which I lost with that car accident the pneumonia the rectocele entrocele repair and all the infections and drugs involved in all that....

I am tired and weighing the risk of not fixing it with the complications of fixing and infection = futher drugs a lot to think about.

I am way behind and know your not here much so I am out of touch will read the latest post you made and see what is up.

peace B

Apparently is just as bad not to be getting sick - Im not sure what that means but I know it's not normal to never suffer a cold when prior to this I would have at least 2 chest infections a year. So strange but of course would rather it be this way. One lady told me she was like this and knew she was healing when she started suffering 'normal' illness such as a cold.

I can't believe you had such a bad scary reaction! That is a real allergy where as most things we react to are usually intolerances. I can understand why you were so worried about having the pen. Gosh btdt what a mess they have us in Eh?

I would defintiely speak to someone about this hernia op. You need to really see if it is essential. Is it giving you really bad pain?

Btdt, you do amaze me! Just sending a "hug."

As long as I don't do anything the hernia is ok... really stifles my life. It has not come out again because I am so careful but when it is out it is not a pain I could stand not even a short while. The danger of it is that the intestine gets caught and then we have blood flow infection problems. I could wait till it needs to be done but I am told emergency operations have higher risks of mistakes ...had that with my appendix they cut my bowel putting it back in and had to pull it all out and stitch it...no body told me of course 10 years later a lawyer I had got the paperwork about it. I am not sure what to do. ??????

What I don't get is why now after I have taken this drug often the past 2 year why am I allergic now...doc says it just happens this way...suddenly allergic.

It sure is a mess.  Not too many good directions to turn feeling a bit boxed in... today I was looking at histamine again for coughing and head aches and blah blah.. reactions of course...

I took a periet and have not coughed since I took it... maybe my cold has something to do with histamine and gut... interesting... for sure

Histamine is amazing me now... it has plenty to do with our immune systems.... and I was never sick when I was first on effexor only when it started pooping out then I was sick all the time... likely depends on our genes how it affects us.

I wonder if it has changed us genetically.

who knows wishing you well Muddles Peace

I came here to do an update and got side tracked so am back to do it.

I took a pariet yesterday when whatever I was coughing up in this month long "cold businesss" tasted like bile and a watering of the mouth came on... it was odd and reminded me of a reaction I had to clavin. Either way I took a pariet 10 mg the coughing eased a great deal and I went to sleep for yet another day.  Got up at 5pm with severe diarrhoea.... I am not planning on taking any more pariet.. we will see.  But I did look up pariet affect on histamine...

 http://factmed.com/study-PARIET-causing-HISTAMINE%20LEVEL%20INCREASED.php

more general info about pareiet if anyone needs it

http://home.intekom.com/pharm/janssen/pariet.html

pareit - Rabeprazole sodium

I was first put on this drug after a gastro bleed while on effexor... long after as I had no doctor and one hosp lost the papers I had to bring from a different hosp... lol around we go I am still here...

This was the only ppi drug I could tolerate after going thru several of the others so I have it just in case. I think I may have some H2 they can be bough otc.. anyway.

I am not planning on taking anymore.. I have needed them in the past year to treat what my doc said was drug induce colitis from the same drug I just reacted to the ceftin...

I did see a gastro doc who calmly stated long after the fact due to waiting lists that I did not have colitis he knew this without any testing or checking of my body... actually I was not sick by the time I got to him

that is it

peace all

I missed my anniversary while away Nov 18 2007 8 years antidepressant free...

I know this site was started in part because another un named site would not recognize protracted withdrawal now I think we have that out of the way and it is normalized.... feels like a sin to normalize such a thing but a bigger sin yet to not..

One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

Hey B - I just wanted to stop by and say hay.  Been thinking about you.

I'm glad you're back, I'm sorry it was a rough time with the surgery and antibiotic and all - I hope you are feeling better soon.

And I hope you see the sun today.

My suggestions are not medical advice, you are in charge of your own medical choices.

A lifetime of being prescribed antidepressants that caused problems (30 years in total). At age 35 flipped to "bipolar," but was not diagnosed for 5 years. Started my journey in Midwest United States. Crossed the Pacific for love and hope; currently living in Australia.   CT Seroquel 25 mg some time in 2013.   Tapered Reboxetine 4 mg Oct 2013 to Sept 2014 = GONE (3 years on Reboxetine).     Tapered Lithium 900 to 475 MG (alternating with the SNRI) Jan 2014 - Nov 2014, tapered Lithium 475 mg Jan 2015 -  Feb 2016 = GONE (10 years  on Lithium).  Many mistakes in dry cutting dosages were made.

Hi btdt,

Like everyone else I am happy to see you return here, though of course thoroughly upset that things continue to be so hard for you.  The anaphylactic shock sounds so scary!  I am glad you are okay, as in, glad you survived!

By the time you get through everything I suspect you'll have earned a medical degree or two...I don't even know how you manage frankly, having to deal with so many problems.

Hope things start to click very soon...

Its good to see you back BT, I thought about you while you were gone and often wondered how you are. Sorry its still rough for you.

I'm not a doctor.  My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one.

My Introduction Thread

Full Drug and Withdrawal History

Brief Summary

Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects

2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010

Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal

DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms

Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal)

May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins.

Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes

Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine

Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D

June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens.

Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered

Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days.

April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close.

Hmm! Short version, ok, I'll try. No more pro-biotics or pre-biotics, neither of them seem to make much difference one way or the other. Highish doses of vit C seemed to help quite a bit at first, but then back to the normal windows/waves/baseline pattern, so not sure about that either. I still take 4000mg per day, slow release formula.

My current experiment is L-Theanine, for more details, check out my thread... which I probably need to update.

Not clicking right yet but having some better moments.  I am still ill but it is more than that now it is recent drug use that has me messed up.  I have managed some damage control today and put off some things I was set to do as I am just not up to it. My brain is my worry more than anything trying to preserve and protect the brain is not easy when drugs are needed for other health problems.  Still bumping around doing the best I can and hoping for a soft landing of healing

peace all

Hey btdt,

I wonder about that sort of thing too. I can't even recall what got me started on this but, years ago in acute withdrawal I got myself into a severe panic about the possibility of becoming allergic to something or other and then needing an epi pen and would I be able to handle it.

I hope your doctor will be able to help you figure out if you can stand it or not.

Also did you get a medic alert bracelet for the AB allergy?  If not, may be something to consider...Though there's no legal obligation for medical professionals to check them from what I was told.  Still in an emergency may be better than not having one.

Take care,

The way it was put to me at emerg was if my throat closed I would die anyway so take the epi and deal with reactions later.  I think my own doc is average at best so I am not sure I would be too trusting in her opinion... just now I am treating myself best I can and staying as far from doctors as long as I can tho I am still coughing ect... I am getting better very slowly. I hope to be better before xmass but it may not happen by then.  One more year with a crappy holiday...whats another year. grrr I have a wk... that is not long I have not been out of bed much the past month so a wk does not seem like much time to jump up and run to get Xmass going... ugh. Think I need a nap
