I was thinking of dropping the 0400 dose if all continues to go okay for the rest of the evening and overnight. If you feel up to reducing the 0400 dose I think it would be ok. Moderator LotusRising Posted April 10, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted April 10, 2022 @Frogie After holding the two days, I decided to drop my 0400 dose yesterday, as I was feeling really good. Unfortunately, nerve pain started kicking in again an hour after I took my 2200 dose last night and it has been unrelenting since then. It moves around my neck, jaw and shoulders and is really awful. I quite literally don't know how to keep going and I am feeling so down. I had really hoped to start feeling better, but I'm beginning to think this is how it will be for the remainder of my taper. Moderator Frogie Posted April 10, 2022 Moderator Share Posted April 10, 2022 @MedRN I can't tell you how long this will last unfortunately, because you could have even after you are done tapering. I'm hoping because you are seeing relief, you may not have many wd symptoms and they may not last long. How much are you taking and at what time? If it is a really small dose, on one time, you may be able to stop it and see if that would help. I would like to see you get to at least 0.5 mg total before you make the jump to zero though. Moderator LotusRising Posted April 10, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted April 10, 2022 I so wish you could predict what will happen, but I know you can't. I'm currently at .077mg. 0400 .019mg - last drop April 9 (yesterday morning) 1000 .020mg - last drop March 31 1600 .019mg - last drop April 5 2200 .019mg - last drop April 6 (felt good most of this day, almost normal, right up until April 7 around 1600, then nerve pain again overnight, but great again throughout the day on April 8 and most of yesterday) I was okay most of yesterday, had some minor lower body pain after my 1600 dose that passed with the peak of my dose around 1900. Then everything went downhill an hour after taking my 2200 dose, got much worse around 0200 (peak), I had a bit of relief when the dose started wearing off, around 0345, then I had to take my 0400 and everything increased again by 0500. That's where I'm at.. Took my 1000 dose and am about a 4-5/10 with neck pain at 1100 and feels like it's increasing. At this point, I don't know if it's the drops that make me feel better or if it's just the windows/waves of withdrawal. I just know that I feel awful and am in lots of pain. 2003-2009 on and off various SSRI's for short periods, Ativan prn 2010-2011 Ativan, up to 1.5mg/day - tapered off without issue 2013-2021 ativan 1-1.5mg 10-12x/month, daily starting Oct 21 to help with buspar WD 2016 - Effexor 75mg, short-term 2021 Mar -Jun Buspar ADR at high dose, tapered 3 months 2021 Aug Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 days (ADR), then MIrtazapine 7.5mg for 7 days (ADR) Oct 22/21 - Direct switch ativan to clonazepam (don't do this) Tapered clonaz Oct/21 - Apr/23 - 0mg! Moderator LotusRising Posted April 10, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted April 10, 2022 @Frogie Yeah, I had definitely thought bad idea to take more. If I dropped the smallest dose, that’s about a 25% drop. I guess I’m not confident that the nerve pain wouldn’t just get worse. I don’t know what to do at all right now. Moderator LotusRising Posted April 27, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted April 27, 2022 @Frogie Doing okay today. Usual abdominal tightening type stuff, sigh. . . but still managed to pick up my son from school for a chipped tooth, get him in to an emergency dental visit and watch him get his first needle and filling to fill up the chip 😟 Made me nauseous just watching, which is silly with my nursing background, but it's definitely not the same when it's your own child! I am down to 0.07mg as of yesterday. Currently none of my doses are the same, but I suppose that will work itself out in time. I have noticed in the last couple weeks, that I am getting days where I don't react to every single dose, so I'm hoping that continues. I am still symptomatic every day, but to a lesser degree for sure 2003-2009 on and off various SSRI's for short periods, Ativan prn 2010-2011 Ativan, up to 1.5mg/day - tapered off without issue 2013-2021 ativan 1-1.5mg 10-12x/month, daily starting Oct 21 to help with buspar WD 2016 - Effexor 75mg, short-term 2021 Mar -Jun Buspar ADR at high dose, tapered 3 months 2021 Aug Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 days (ADR), then MIrtazapine 7.5mg for 7 days (ADR) Oct 22/21 - Direct switch ativan to clonazepam (don't do this) Tapered clonaz Oct/21 - Apr/23 - 0mg! Moderator Frogie Posted April 28, 2022 Moderator Share Posted April 28, 2022 @MedRN I'm sorry to hear about your son. But at least they were able to fix the tooth. I know what you mean about not doing well when it's your child though. It's so hard to see them that way. You are getting really close to zero. I'm glad some of the symptoms are gone, sorry you are still having the abdominal stuff going on. I hope tomorrow is better for you.😊 PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996. Moderator LotusRising Posted May 6, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted May 6, 2022 Hi @Frogie I am definitely up and down, but I think I am finally starting to see clearer waves and windows. There are days when my symptoms are not as severe, so I am trying to remain optimistic about that. Of course, when they come flooding back, I start to lose hope again, but I'm starting to think of my future after withdrawal and what that might mean for me. I do find when I'm feeing better that I'm always waiting for the next shoe to drop, so I'm hoping as the windows get longer, that will start to fade a bit. I know the process will unfold on its own, but I sure wish I could just get on with life, you know? I think I've determined that I won't be going back to nursing, at least not what I was doing before. I think I have been trying to like it for years now, and every time I take a break and go back, I'm reminded about how overworked I was and how stressful the job is. How are you doing? You must be missing speaking with your friend. I hope you're doing okay? Moderator Frogie Posted May 6, 2022 Moderator Share Posted May 6, 2022 @MedRN I'm glad you are starting to see a waves and windows pattern, as hard as it is. But it does mean you are healing. I hope you see more windows in the near future. I know nursing is a hard job. My mother in law was a nurse for 40+ years, and my daughter in law was a nurse. She just couldn't do it anymore and actually is doing insurance and loves it. I give nurses so much credit though, what they endure. I do miss talking with my friend. I used to talk to her at least twice a day. But I know she is probably somewhere in the mountains with a paintbrush and canvas. Thanks... Moderator LotusRising Posted May 25, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted May 25, 2022 @Frogie @Greatful Thank you for checking in and sorry for not getting back to you sooner. We were out camping for May long weekend here in Canada. The weather was not awesome, as is usual (it snowed), but it was so nice to get away into the mountains for the first time in over 7 months! This is monumental for our family because we spend pretty much every season out there hiking, skiing and camping. And nothing beats sitting by a campfire with a nice mug of tea . Even just a month ago, I would not have been able to do this because of symptoms, so I am very grateful. I hope I'm finally turning a corner after a big flare up in my teeth. I still have what feels like sensitivity on and off, but it is nothing like the pain I was in just a couple short weeks ago. I was feeling so bad when my teeth flared, that I questioned how I would see myself through to the end of this thing. I don't think I've ever felt that way before in my life - it's crazy how these drugs can grab such a hold of your thoughts. I have only just started to feel like I can come out of this and beat it. I have been listening to Baylissa's evening meditation almost every night and I think this is one of the tools that has helped me to keep going - she has the most calming, reassuring voice. I am also getting weekly acupuncture and working with a life/spiritual coach to streamline my goals for the future, so I have definitely shifted into a more positive headspace. The verdict is still out on returning to nursing, but I hope to keep my RN status by merging nursing with my studies in nutrition/health coaching. I still want to find a way to help others that have found themselves in the same situation we did, but not sure how to move forward with this as yet. Spring is finally starting to show itself, so I look forward to gardening and yard work and just taking it all in. So, essentially, I have been busy getting things done for a change and it feels so good to participate in life again! I think my outlook will be forever changed after this experience. Moderator Frogie Posted May 25, 2022 Moderator Share Posted May 25, 2022 @MedRN I figured you were camping. Snow? I don't think Colorado knows what that is anymore, but we have received a couple of 5 minute rain showers. So I shouldn't complain. I'm so happy to read this update. It warms my heart that you are able to do some of the things you never thought possible. Maybe through your nursing you can help educate people by your experiences. There is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow waiting for you. And you will get there. PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996. Moderator LotusRising Posted May 27, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted May 27, 2022 Hi @Frogie Really fatigued last couple of days, but I attribute this to trying to do too much. The more I do, the less I think or worry about things going sideways again. Symptoms are still to a minimum - mild sensitivity/pain to teeth that comes and goes, tinnitus has come back but this also comes and goes. I've noticed my memory is awful right now, can't seem to keep things straight. I don't know if this is related to the medication, or just plain old perimenopause, but I'm now making lists of all the things I need to do lol. No more snow thankfully, I think spring is finally here with the grass turning green and tulips finally opening up. I hope it's the same where you are in Colorado! We're doing a bunch of moving around the house type of stuff this weekend and turning my sons room from a "little kid" room into a more mature "tween/teen" room. Moderator Frogie Posted May 28, 2022 Moderator Share Posted May 28, 2022 @MedRN Sounds like you are doing better than you were. The memory thing could be related to the meds, but I have to make lists for everything. I'm older than you though. I think it will straighten out in time. A tween? That sounds exciting! You'll have fun doing rearranging and doing new updated "tween things" and will definitely keep your mind busy and away from your symptoms. Overall, it sounds like you are doing much better than you were. I'm so glad. PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.
