No martina - I should of got off this years ago...as soon as I was having adverse reactions. I've really blown it. I would have been like wolfhound if I had just stopped it...recovered in a year. Now I feel the damage is too severe....my brain is dead at the front and that has not changed in 18 months.

I just pray I don't get 24 hour Akathisia on top of this because I will be gone then. No way will I let my children witness that again. No way.

We are, and we will be with you.

thanks Adown. Have been thinking of you. How are you pal?

Pal? Wow, that is a compliment for me, thank you :)

Well, the truth. Is not glad share the same torture, this thing is a killer, and sorry if my words aren't the right ones, but I'm always honest, and sometimes too direct since this hits me. Psychiatrists have destroyed my life, and I'm only a kid of 25 years.

I'm planning to visit doctors again after a break, a lot of days and nights very bad, the same as always, hitting as hard as it cans. I will visit a neurologist, due to my pineal gland cyst (innofensive for now) and I will talk with the doctor about my things quickly, like when I do coffee, instead of putting the kettle on hob I put it in the microwave without realizing until seconds later... My mind is not in the right place. This is one of the examples of multi, you know what I mean.

I'm not going to pay a single coin more to any psychiatrist, I'm going to stop this, quitting as accurate as I can and if I have to die so be it, right now this is like don't live, I don't feeling I'm with life.

They are so ******* lucky than I don't have my mind, my brain and my body 100%, or even 20%, because if not, I will destroy one per one this ******* commerce of killing people, of have chronically sick people. There is a "refrán" in my country than says "Es peor el remedio que la enfermedad" what means something like "It is worst the remedy/cure than the disease/illness".  Where is the hippocratic oath eh? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippocratic_Oath

If someday I'm too lucky of have (I don't believe) my head backs, I will do as I do now for my life, fight until my last heartbeat against this people. No human deserves this.

I don't want to look at my son and hate him. That is not me. I can't live like this.

That phrase, is a good summary of all... Same here with my niece, and with the rest. I'm not happy with nothing, all bother me, even myself.

You aren't alone, we aren't alone. Maybe we will not see the end of this fight, but here will be people figthing for stop this ****. I just wish than they can do it quickly before more people got his life and the life of his loved ones destroyed, will be a war of years, but... I think this should stop.

Sorry for my English and for the post... just... every night thinking in people like us (you, me, forum's members).

A big hug, "my friend". Keep figthing as you are doing.

2005: sertraline + clorazepate until summer 2006, I quit very slowly without any problem and feeling even better.

2008 (around, I don't remember) I tried fluoxetine but leave the second day after a extrapidamidal syndrome.

2010: mirtazapine 30 mg + diazepam 10 mg, both everyday

2011: I tried to quit mirtazapine with the help of the psychiatrist, but nothing. I visit other psychiatrist and everyhing fails when escitalopram+mirtazapine and adding orfidal instead of diazepam, then I was 50mg every 12 hours of clorazepate for fix the damage of the new medication and I back to mirtazapine+diazepam.

2014: still with mirtazapine+diazepam, I quit diazepam, but then I back due I was not feeling better as I expected, I did like this: June 30/20mg, July 15/10mg, August 5mg, September just around 6 days 5mg, October 0, November 0, December back to 5/10, January same.

2015: Trying to quit mirtazapine since August, August was alternating few days between 30/22.5/15, September 22.5/15mg, October 15mg, November 15mg, December 15/7.5/0, January 15/7.5/0.

My diagnostic before 2010 (all by doctors) was depression and anxiety, in 2010 was diagnostic with depression, anxiety, avoidant personality disorder, pineal cyst and don't remember if something more.

Diagnostic since summer 2014 (all by doctors) is the same adding basal anxiety, agorofobia, anhedomia, depersonalization, derealization, hypothymia, asthenia. I will add obsesive compulsive disorder.

You are my pal. I no longer connect to anyone around me like yourself. I can only connect with people like you now...those who know and understand this torture.

I want to write more to you but at the moment I am so bad. My brain and body feels like it's given up.

Hugs to you Adown. You are so strong and will fight this.

I'm in Ireland. But I've given up fighting with the Irish authorities and focus more on the UK. I think the Irish health system does whatever the UK system does, just with a couple of years delay (don't tell anyone I said that ;-P)

Thanks so much for the offer! (((hugs))) I booked my conference ticket today. I think I'll fly into London and book a hostel from Thu-Sun. I'd definitely like to meet you and your husband if you feel up for it on the day. We see spontaneously.

It would be so good to meet someone in person who knows how this stuff feels. I hope you're feeling ok today.

Yes Laura - of course, if I can go we will definitely meet. I have booked the tickets.

Yesterday was so, so bad...dark and had lost the will to live. The weather was dodgy and I really think that has a huge effect on me. Last night was a night of pain and suffering - got up and had a bath very early which helped.

Managed to go to the supermarket today. Going to stay off the computer and phone all day today because right now it's killing me...I hate the sensitivites and worry these are never going to go away. They are so severe.

Going to get in my car and drive somewhere....I don't know where but it's a brighter day and feel like sitting in this prison is not going to do me any good.

It does feel like escaping from a prison. I never want to come home again, I just want to keep driving and get as far away as possible.

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

I can't wait to read from you "I'm much better now". I'm sure that day will come soon. Maybe in September you're already better when we go to the conference. That will be the one year mark, right? I bet we will sit in the sun during the conference break and actually enjoy it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been wanting to up-date...apathy stinks :-(

Still pretty much the same really..still in shock 24/7 as to what has happened.

One thing I had not mentioned earlier was our new arrival - our new puppy Hattie.

I was very apprehensive about getting a dog. A few months ago we viewed a pup and put a deposit down but I backed out. 5 weeks ago we viewed another and I had a strong connection to her...I felt something which I had not felt in 18 months. We bought her home and although it is hard work...she is good for me. Everyone told me it's like having another child and I worked myself up but it's not the case at all. I am at home nearly all day every day and to have a companion with me has helped. she sits with me all day, I have to take her out for a walk which I have actually found very good for myself.....I have met a few lovely people out on the walks. The conversations are always about the dogs so I don't really have to struggle to think of what to talk about. She is a diamond...a very lovable, funny, happy dog.

Animals are most definitely healing. The children have a new best friend too. I find myself laughing at her antics, she has bought life into the home. Apathy is crippling but she gets me out of this prison and up on my feet. It's strange how can connect to this dog more than any other human in my life.

That's brilliant!

2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare!

On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect.

Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan.

Nightmare that could have been avoided!

What kind is it?

Thanks guys. Yeah - I struggle sometimes...especially when she goes into her crazy mode of just wanting to run about. And of course...the training. Still can't get her to do her business outside all of the time which is a pain but I know for sure that before withdrawal - I would have been more stressed because I was so house proud. I don't care if the house is up-side down now!!

She is a cockerpoo - she doesn't malt...no hair to hoover up and no allergies.

I wish I could up-load a pic but I've tried and its saying the pic is too big???

Oh Muddles, I'm so happy for you :) Congratulations on your new furry friend :) I hope it makes you happy and facilitates your healing. I want a puppy too but too scared I won't be able to take it out for walks.

I suffer from depression, anxiety, pure-o ocd, and panic attacks since 2004. Been on multiple different psychiatric drugs since 2006. Never had a significant WD problem before, only brain zaps for a month and then I'd be fine...............Been on Cipralex (escitalopram) 15 mg and Fluanxol (flupentixol) 1 mg since Sep 2014. Stopped taking the Cipralex after a fast 20-day taper.Took the last 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 5th, 2015. Then took Seroxat (paroxetine) 10 mg for a week, and stopped it too. Severe WD started suddenly on Feb 16th. RI 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 18th, 2015. RI worked and was relatively stable for a while................April 7 - decreased Fluanxol from 1 mg to 0.5 mg and took it at this dose for a week. - BIG MISTAKE; April 13 - WD starts creeping in; April 14 - RI full dose of Fluanxol 1 mg => severe muscle twitching and jerking when trying to relax and fall asleep, overwhelming sense of doom, dread, terror, and horror, insomnia, hoping to stabilize.
Tried doing a 10% cut off Fluanxol in the end of May for a few days, but quickly updosed to full dose because the twitching returned.
Experiencing waves and windows in the following months.
Unsuccessful brief taper attempt of Fluanxol by 5% on November 1st. Symptoms hit the next day. Too scared to continue tapering, reinstate full dose.
Severe crash in November after stupidly trying a barbiturate on November 9th. Grave mistake. Sense of unshakable inescapable internal torture, like my soul is in hell being tortured, terror/horror/dread/doom (probably akathisia?) that gets especially bad when trying to relax and fall asleep, muscles twitch, jerk and move on their own, shaking, insomnia, can't eat, confusion, disorientation, brain not working normally. Never felt so bad in my entire life. Never experiment with other meds while in WD! Praying to God I stabilize and get back to my baseline.
December - things getting even worse.

There is my pal, hell yeah \o/

Dogs... my experience is short and amazing. Years ago I was with a big panic attack, I was crazy without know what to do, then I decided to go down to my neighboors' flat. They have a dog, and that was... the next phrase will be a pretty good summary, in this last 5 years of my life, the only moment where I have feel the hapiness again was when that dog was over me in the sofa during 15 minutes. That dog felt my pain and anguish, and that dog help me as no-human or any other thing did.

Give a good hug from my to that dog, other for you and your loved ones.

Let's still figthing my friend. We all are with you, we all are with each other.

Oh Muddles, I don't even know what to say. I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this.

It's a wave and will pass. (((((hugs))))))

Feb 2015 Took venlafaxine for 5 days only... experienced withdrawal that made me completely non-functional

Mar 2015 took under 1mg of Sertraline for 10 days in an attempt to combat Venlafaxine withdrawal. Got adverse reactions.

After stopping Sertraline, withdrawal got much worse. New, horrific symptoms.

June 2015 Still non-functional but slowly getting better. Still brain zaps, migraines, sweating, heart racing, depression, crying spells

September 2015: 24/7 brain zaps, twitches in the face, no concentration, bad memory, language skills deteriorating.

Hopefully it won't last as long this time, Muddles. It seems sometimes that things don't last quite as long when they come back around after getting better. Praying it will be relatively short-lived this time.

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)
