moodyblues78
In early January this year I took my son to his first floorball practice. I was a wreck. I was scared and anxious. The noise was unbearable. I was half blind and suicidal. Today I went there again and I played with them. I was sweaty, exhausted and fell twice. I even made one goal. To my surprise I did not panic. This is strange. Wonderfully strange. 08 Cipralex 10mg for about 6 months. 11-12 Cipralex 20mg. Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted May 8, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted May 8, 2014 Wonderful....but not so strange, you are healing This is great to hear MB, thank you for the positive update and congratulation on the goal. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one. My Introduction Thread Full Drug and Withdrawal History Brief Summary Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects 2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010 Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal) May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins. Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens. Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days. April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close. VIDEO: Where did the chemical imbalance theory come from? Moderator Emeritus bubble Posted May 9, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted May 9, 2014 that's a real measure of healing! and a proof of how we can recover after reinstating instead of suffering horrors of a protracted withdrawal. We can get off these meds and have a life while we are doing it instead of allowing them to further damage us and inflict pain and suffering even if they are not in "the system". moodyblues78
Today I started lifting weights. I`m not aiming for lots of muscle. I`m doing this to make myself feel stronger. And if in the process I manage to build up some muscle and burn off some of this coat of SSRI fat I have around me, that`s just bonus. No night anxiety anymore and sleep is ok. Days are still challenging though. Every day is another lesson learning to face my fears. I`ve been sick lately but fortunately it turned out not to be anything serious. Moderator Emeritus Rhiannon Posted June 14, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted June 14, 2014 Wow! You're doing great. I know, some days less so. But still. Started on Prozac and Xanax in 1992 for PTSD after an assault. One drug led to more, the usual story. Got sicker and sicker, but believed I needed the drugs for my "underlying disease". Long story...lost everything. Life savings, home, physical and mental health, relationships, friendships, ability to work, everything. Amitryptiline, Prozac, bupropion, buspirone, flurazepam, diazepam, alprazolam, Paxil, citalopram, lamotrigine, gabapentin...probably more I've forgotten. Started multidrug taper in Feb 2010. Doing a very slow microtaper, down to low doses now and feeling SO much better, getting my old personality and my brain back! Able to work full time, have a full social life, and cope with stress better than ever. Not perfect, but much better. After 23 lost years. Big Pharma has a lot to answer for. And "medicine for profit" is just not a great idea. moodyblues78
Hi all. Just stopping by to update. I have felt well enough to speed up my taper. I have been going down 0,5mg per week and it has been bearable. Physical symptoms have gone a bit worse because of this but mentally I`m slowly getting better all the time. Lately I have had a couple of windows that lasted at least 2 days. I still have very bad days but I`ve learned to accept them and float through them. I can`t remember the last time I had a panic attack. My main problems are tinnitus, sensitivity to everything and depression that comes and goes. I`m able to live relatively normal life. Today I`m leaving for my summer vacation with my family so wish me luck. This won`t be easy but I`ll try to enjoy it as much as I can. My meds & supplements at the moment: 8am: Zoloft 2mg, Fish oil capsule with vitamins E and D, Magnesium Citrate 300mg. Vitamin C 500mg. 3pm: Fish oil capsule with vitamins E and D, Magnesium Citrate 300mg. Vitamin C 500mg. 8pm: Zoloft 2mg, Fish oil capsule with vitamins E and D, Magnesium Citrate 300mg. Moderator Emeritus bubble Posted June 27, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted June 27, 2014 Oh my friend, I was afraid I was going to have to implore you to slow down Why not treat yourself to a nice long hold at least while you are on your hols? We both had such a rough winter. Looking at your signature now, I remember how you only started feeling better in March and April when we managed to persuade you to slow down You know I'm scared of this: despite the holds you mention, in less than 2 months you came down by (oh my maths!)....around 40 %? You were not on that many meds and that long as me so our situations are different. I just fear that cumulative effect so wanted to wish you a long hold before you leave for your much deserved break. hugs, bubble Current: 9/2022 Xanax 0.08, Lexapro 2 2020 Xanax 0.26 (down from 2 mg in 2013), Lexapro 2.85 mg (down from 5 mg 2013) Amitriptyline (tricyclic AD) and clonazepam for 3 months to treat headache in 1996 1999. - present Xanax prn up to 3 mg. 2000-2005 Prozac CT twice, 2005-2010 Zoloft CT 3 times, 2010-2013 Escitalopram 10 mg went from 2.5 to zero on 7 Aug 2013, bad crash 40 days afterreinstated to 5 mg Escitalopram 4Oct 2013 and holding liquid Xanax every 5 hours 28 Jan 2014 Xanax 1.9, 18 Apr 2015 1 mg, 25 June 2015 Lex 4.8, 6 Aug Lexapro 4.6, 1 Jan 2016 0.64 Xanax 9 month hold 24 Sept 2016 4.5 Lex, 17 Oct 4.4 Lex (Nov 0.63 Xanax, Dec 0.625 Xanax), 1 Jan 2017 4.3 Lex, 24 Jan 4.2, 5 Feb 4.1, 24 Mar 4 mg, 10 Apr 3.9 mg, May 3.85, June 3.8, July 3.75, 22 July 3.7, 15 Aug 3.65, 17 Sept 3.6, 1 Jan 2018 3.55, 19 Jan 3.5, 16 Mar 3.4, 14 Apr 3.3, 23 May 3.2, 16 June 3.15, 15 Jul 3.1, 31 Jul 3, 21 Aug 2.9 26 Sept 2.85, 14 Nov Xan 0.61, 1 Dec 0.59, 19 Dec 0.58, 4 Jan 0.565, 6 Feb 0.55, 20 Feb 0.535, 1 Mar 0.505, 10 Mar 0.475, 14 Mar 0.45, 4 Apr 0.415, 13 Apr 0.37, 21 Apr 0.33, 29 Apr 0.29, 10 May 0.27, 17 May 0.25, 28 May 0.22, 19 June 0.22, 21 Jun updose to 0.24, 24 Jun updose to 0.26 Supplements: Omega 3 + Vit E, Vit C, D, magnesium, Taurine, probiotic I'm not a medical professional. moodyblues78
Hi bubble I understand your fears completely and I monitor my symptoms every day very closely and I have my other leg on the brake ready to stomp. There is a big risk of things getting much worse but I have so much experience on that from the hellish winter I had that it does not scare me much. When I feel like taking a hold, I`ll hold as long as necessary. Also I plan to take the last 1mg or so much slower. Maybe 0.1mg per week. We`ll see how it goes Hopefully I`ll be completely off by the end of this year. 08 Cipralex 10mg for about 6 months. 11-12 Cipralex 20mg. moodyblues78
Back in may i was shitting my pants waiting for the summer and holidays. Those are always very stressful times to me. All the heat and bright lights.. Planning the trip and packing our bags. It was all the same as jumping off a cliff. Luckily I decided to hold my taper at 4mg. I had already come a long way from being suicidal and rocking on a chair back and forth, ears screaming, half blind. Just wanting to end it all. Horrible panic attacks that lasted for days. Being as scared to live as to die. Fortunately around march i could see gradual progress in the hell that these poisons brought to my life. CT:n diazepam and tapering too fast 100mg of zoloft was not nice. Slowly I have learned to accept my symptoms one by one. That has been the only way to diminish them along with slow taper. Even then its very gradual. I have listened to Claire Weekes`s recordings for hundreds of hours. They really helped. Every time I listened I learned something new. She does not talk about withdrawal from drugs. She talks about acceptance. She knows it very well. She had been through the same. Acceptance does not cure withdrawal but it helps to live with the symptoms while tapering or recovering from CT. It helps to cure the problems that put me on these drugs in the first place. Go slow, like Alto says. I`m not very good at following rules but I try. This site has more or less saved my life. Thank you. I`m not done or well. Far from it. But I`ve seen what the rest of my life can be once my brain is strongs again. Along the way we can see glimmers of the future. They are the windows we love so much. Then there are the waves that are taking us further away from healing. I learned that this is not true. Waves are important because they teach me to accept. They teach me to face my problems. They make my life hell but every time I come back stronger. It`s hard to see at first but this is true to me. The right attitude can help so much. I`ve seen it. It can help in a matter of seconds. I don`t write here much anymore. I`ve said a lot. I decided not to complain. I decided to focus on life but not abandon this community we have here. I decided to become a positive person after being negative for 35yrs. This is not easy. Changing they the way I think about life is every bit as hard as withdrawal. All I need is hope. I want to be different from what I was. I`m not trying to be something I`m not. I`m just changing the course of my ship. So it seems that I survived the summer. I learned a lot of myself. It was hard but I`m still here. Hoping the best for you all. Don´t think that maybe you can make it better. Believe that you can and it will happen. In time. If you really believe in it. I do. 1 08 Cipralex 10mg for about 6 months. 11-12 Cipralex 20mg. moodyblues78
After 3 days under surveillance at the emergency room and 2 days at the internal decease ward I`m finally back home. I was pumped full of all kinds of meds since they could not find anything wrong with me (WD?). It will take some time to get back on my feet again. Luckily i was able to keep my nerves in check but it was hard. There was a lot of damage done to my progress but I`ll take this as a learning experience. I was surprised to see how well i managed to keep myself under control even when fearing for my life. Acceptance is everything. 08 Cipralex 10mg for about 6 months. 11-12 Cipralex 20mg.
