I had the same when I stopped remeron/mirtazapine I was in such a bad way same as you are I'm not sure if my periods stopped due to stress or not eating but they came back when I reinstated. I did read that cortisol has a link to progesterone which may have something to do with it.

Feb 2013 - started Mirtazapine 15 mg have CFS /ME

did 6 months of tapering to 0 mg

2 months drug Free awful withdrawal

May 2014 reinstated at 6 mg

Everything is affected Muddles, the nervous system controls everything and it all gets out of whack. Your

body is working hard to regain homeostasis and will get there eventually. I must sound like a stuck record here

but I truly believe that the body is capable of repairing itself and getting back to how it should be, with the

exception of age related  stuff of course. I know my brain is improving but I'll never get my figure back!

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

Different drugs occasionally (mostly benzos) 1976 - 1981 (no problem)

1993 - 2002 in and out of hospital. every type of drug + ECT. Staring with seroxat

2002  effexor.

Tapered  March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads.

Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013

Restarted taper  Nov 2013

OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015    :D

Tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014

Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg

 July 2017 30mg.  May 15 2018 25mg

Taking fish oil, magnesium, B12, folic acid, bilberry eyebright for eye pressure.

My story http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/4199-hello-mammap-checking-in/page-33

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible

Thanks lolly. I may look into some natural cream.

Mamma P - thank you...I do hope so. I've got my figure back after always being overweight on mirtazapine. I am probably too thin at the moment and need to put some on which is hard!

Hope you are ok. I don't get much time to look through everyone's thread as I'm so light sensitive at the moment. Will catch up with you soon.

Yes that might help. I went back on the contraceptive pill which I found helped with my anxiety. Basically cortisol is made from progesterone so when you produce a lot of cortisol your progesterone is all used up.

Interesting lolly - thank you. TMI but I have had a period now. I stopped the birth control months ago as it was contributing to the awful depression. I will look into using a cream.

Is there anything that is not effected because of these stupid drugs?!! It's just not right!

My periods stopped when I quit Effexor and never came back. Hormones had been all over the map I was too young for menopause but got it anyway.

I like the fb saying it has proven true a few times in my life since withdrawal I guess it is normal given the circumstances we live in and the fact that nobody understand it but people who live it. There is a thread here called when strangers are your friends or something of that sort along the same lines meaning the same thing.

I knew you were smart enough to know...

I also know there are times and states we go thru in withdrawal when how smart we are has nothing to do with how we think about something and getting some space from the thought the truth is the only thing that matters that minute... I know it all ... all I wish I did not know.

I am glad your ok with it :) peace.

That is interesting when I was on paxil and having a hell of a time with it.. my own gp was away and the one who replaced her checked my hormones... she put me on progesterone ... I had a TIA from birth control.. but she said it would be ok... as it turned out it raised my estrogen... so none of it worked out and I ended up off of paxil. There was something else in my blood work that was off at that time to do with my liver alt or something... nope lipase was really high.

I have not had my hormones checked in years but the year before I quit E I had them checked 6 x and every time they were different once I was pregnant tho I had not had sex... and knew I wasn't...  once I was prepubescent... so there is some info whatever it means nothing that makes any sense to me to date.

I have those test results around here some place but lord knows where they are. Not sure if any of this is helpful but may lead to a clue to something that is  helpful.

I have almost come to peace that by the time I get off this Ativan, i may be 35 (30 now)

I guess I'm in for the long haul.

Since poop out started, and I became ill, it's been about 3 1/2 years. Now I was functionally miserable for two of those. But, been disabled for almost a year now. :(

So, by the time I'm done the drugs will have taken a decade from me almost. And that's if I'm lucky. I have no choice but to accept it. But it makes me want to run my car through the shrinks office.

I know the feeling, had a terrible day yesterday (suicidal). Today not as bad thankfully but I know it won't last.

Meeting with my employer tomorrow to hand in yet another sick note. The things I would do for a day off once upon a time ago, now I'm desperate to get back. Oh how times have changed!

Hang on in there muddles, this can't be it for us. There must be greener pastures at the end of this seemingly endless journey.

December 2008 Prescribed 20mg citalopram (celexa) for depression and OCD.July 2013 stopped taking citalopram (celexa). November 2013 reinstated citalopram (celexa) following replapse at 20mg for 4 weeks, 40mg for 4 weeks and tapered off over 4 weeks as my condition had deteriorated. February 2014 started 20mg of fluoxetine (prozac). Didn't tolerate it and stopped 4 weeks later, experienced no withdrawal. May 2014 started 25mg of sertraline (zoloft), increased to 50mg after 1 week. Remained at 50mg for 4 weeks before increasing to 100mg at the request of my psychiatrist despite advising of suicidal ideation for an additional week before stopping. Advised to drop to 50mg for 3 days before withdrawing altogether. I did as advised and horrendous withdrawal ensued. 11th August 2014 commenced escitalopram (lexapro), weaned off end of October 2014. Commenced Clonazepam December 2014 0.5mg twice daily, switched to Diazepam 10mg twice daily with a view to tapering of the benzodiazepine altogether. Tapering schedule presently at a reduction of 1mg of Diazepam every 1-2 weeks depending upon side effects. So far experienced no severe physical side effects except worsening of PGAD symptoms upon reduction which does seem to improve within a few days of doing so. Presently taking no antidepressants however still experiencing mild agitation, severe depression and PGAD which is currently being treated by a physiotherapist.

I know.

My heart goes out to you but I know how impotent that is too.

Some days we just have to keep our heads down and get thru it.

One day this intensity will end I promise.

I will be a thief here cause it is what helped me ... some kind of.

When going thru hell just keep going.

It will pass every frigging thing does... it will.

I wish you peace.

May the force be with you.

Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Bless you all - thank you. Don't know what I would do without my new family here. It's so different coming from people who get this. Trying to explain and go on to my nearest and dearest is tiring for me and then!

Better day today! Had my hair done as I was looking like a tramp! I was so worried I would react badly but didnt. Can't believe how different I felt today from yesterday! Only had Akathisia from about 4 o'clock this morning till I got up and then again from 4 o'clock this afternoon. No psychotic feeling - just the usual brain dead feeling and Dr/dp. I managed to have a normal conversation with my hairdresser as she knows what's happened and seems very interested as her mom is on antidepressants and she's worried about her. We talked about other stuff too which I can't do a lot of the time.

I think the hairdressers helped. I am not liking my own company at the moment as I feel scared on my own - like a small child??? Crazy!

Hope you're all ok?

Yeah I get the mind chatter and feeling so child-like scared. Xx

2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare!

On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect.

Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan.

Nightmare that could have been avoided!

You had a pattern there 4am 4pm that to me is sign the body is noticing time... it is a step... I think it does not mean your done but your clock is working at fixing itself...circadian rhythm..

Alto did a ton of work on that at pp years ago..but it is gone now.

A break is good glad the hairdresser went well I recall being exactly the same when a conversation that went well where I could attend to it and carry my end was such a big deal sometimes it still is a big deal as I have been home a lot and not social a long time again.  It is the season for pretty hair :) now your is pretty.  I have been debating dying mine as the grey is taking over... so far I can't make myself do it... I know I will react and get sick from the chemicals in the dye so I bought it but there it sits taunting me.  Holidays may just find me looking haggish... maybe I can start some new wave haggish chic :) we will see what wins out.. I could get it cut and leave the grey that would help some I have some time yet to decide ... it takes days for me to recover after getting ill from the dye so I either do it soon or forget about it as I am not wanting to be ill xmass it is getting close... ho ho ho...

I hope it passes quickly or maybe already has...I hope it already has.

Keep track of patterns as they can be important what you eat ect... if your up to it.  Sometimes things add up to being something but a lot of the time not too.

peace

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. Hope today is a better day for you, Muddles. So frustrating not knowing what to expect from day to day :(

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

Thanks all...better afternoon....all over the shop!

Had massive rage last night with my husband - I scared myself and glad there isn't a gun in the house - no joke! Where that rage came from I do not know but could not control it. Scares me.

Btdt - I was surprised I did not react to the hair dye. she uses foils so it doesn't touch my scalp. The smell usually sets me off but I was lucky yesterday. My lovely friend came and did my eyebrows for me today so I am looking a bit more human. I think I just need a face lift now as this past year I have aged 20 years...no joke! I could never buy alcohol or cigarettes without being asked for ID last year (I am 35), but since this has happened I haven't been asked once. Looking into stopping the smoking but I really think it helps Akathisia??!!!

Muddles, glad you're doing a bit better. I managed to get my eyebrows done (standing appointment), but my hair is going to have to wait a while. I will definitely look like a hag for Christmas--and an old one at that! I have never looked anywhere near my age, but the rapid weight loss is leaving me with wrinkles I don't want or need :(
