Wolfhound
I am thinking of you. I sincerely hope you´ll be better soon. Put on trazadone for 8 weeks. Psychic akathisia started on 100 mg. Not a single doctor believed me telling me it is all anxiety in my head. Terrible suicidal urges. Got voluntary hospitalised. Acknoledged adverse reaction, put me off cold turkey. Instalated mirtazapine to block the reaction of trazadone. 5 weeks on mirtazapine.acathisia worsened, suicidal, homicidal urges. Nobody believed. Finally they stopped mirtazapine cold turkey. My heighest dose of trazadone was 200 mg, of mirtazapine 30 mg. Since the c/t, suicidal, acathisia continuing. tried promethazine for sleep. Tried atarax. Currently taking klonopin for 10 days. Good for sleep, but my condition worsening. Unable to tell if it is klonopin or a bad wave. In the former hospital i took twice gabapentin. It should be all my medication. i was offered promethazin for sleep 25 mg and also small amount of quetiapine. Both are antipsychotics, even if ptomethszin very weak. Terribly afraid. Link to comment

Muddles
Hello! I'm really not coping with this emotional anaesthesia - no-one should have to live like this. My pyschiatrist medical visits will have to stop. He's a complete arse who reckons no-one suffers after withdrawel and believes this 10% method is ridiculous. I have never come across anyone as arrogant and refuse to be spoken to like a two year old. He has no idea of the person I was before meds so he has no right to judge. Get me off the drug and see what we are left with were his words. Three weeks before I'm back to my old self. Makes me sick. Sorry for the rant. 2008 - Doctors appointment with stress induced anxiety led to Citalopram prescription. Severe adverse reaction Mirtazapine prescribed - adverse reaction but told to stay on. Moderator Emeritus mammaP Posted July 10, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 10, 2014 Hi Muddles, I know you have been really sick all the time on the mirtazepine, and desperately want to be off it. I feel for you every time I read your updates. Have any drops resulted in any worsening for you? Have you felt any relief at all, however tiny? It is so hard in your situation, it's damned if you do and damned if you don't! Are the sounds new? Or have you had them before? I'm just wondering if they are due to the last cut. **I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge. Moderator Emeritus bubble Posted July 10, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 10, 2014 You know I'm following you closely and am at a loss as to what to suggest. It will be helpful to answer Mamma's P questions. As far as I remember, for you and Skybert things just go bad sort of irrespective of cuts or holds (as far as we were able to establish) and it was not for alack of trying and endurance on your part. I agree what CW said about listening to your body about the signs. Now would be the time to make another cut to 9 mg following the 10 % every 30 day rule so maybe we could monitor very closely what happens and what kind of effect it has on you. I totally, totally understand how scary it is to hear these sounds but if it's any comfort I'd say it's not so bad because these are sounds that are naturally around anyway. I find what MammaP wrote here very comforting and it reminds me of you: (not sure she found teh video she mentions big hug! MammaP on symptoms in withdrawal and our CNS fighting them sometimes there seems to be no obvious reason for symptoms to change in withdrawal. Someone posted a video a few months ago about how the nervous system heals and I thought it was really good. I'll see of I can find it. Basically the nervous system heals one thing then moves on to another, it is while it is healing that we get the weird symptoms. I saw a documentary once about the 'flu virus and how it progresses. It was interesting because it taught us that the awful symptoms are actually good because it is the body's immune system doing it's job of fighting the infection. Muddles
Sorry - was trying to quote but didn't know how to do it. I have dropped down to 9mg but have not up-dated my sig. The complete apathy stops me from doing anything and it's so difficult to even type here. I will do it though. I have never felt well since pooo-out. Any drops don't help at all. The akathasia comes from no-where along with everything else. If I could feel some kind of emotion I think I could do this. It's a terrible crime for this to happen. These sounds I've had before on mirtazapine - when I had my breakdowns (Akathasia) in the past. Moderator Emeritus bubble Posted July 11, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted July 11, 2014 Hello Muddles, thank you for your reply especially since things are so hard. You did quote the post well. Everything was fine, you can just continue typing below the quote and that's it. But since you wrote a reply in a new post, I removed those attempts so that they don't clutter your thread. It seems that the appearance of symptoms is not related to a cut because it appeared on the 8th and you cut on the 9th. Any change after the cut is important to notice, especially after day 4 when it really takes effect. I'm not good at keeping track of my symptoms but I see why we recommend doing it: if you don't, your memory tricks you into believing that everything is the same blur all the time. But we know that's not true. We've seen symptoms changing with you and there was even that beautiful window. So even if you've never felt well since what you call poop out, things have been different. Without closer monitoring of the symptoms it's hard to say how your CNS actually reacts to these changes and what would be better: longer holds, slower or faster taper. As CW said, only your CNS can tell you what is too fast and it's telling you this through symptoms so that's why it's so important to closely monitor them. I only mange to do that when I'm fairly symptomatic but when I'm doing fine, I drop the habit ;( Maybe it would help you do use this check list: http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/2390-dr-joseph-glenmullens-withdrawal-symptom-checklist/ take care! bubble Current: 9/2022 Xanax 0.08, Lexapro 2 2020 Xanax 0.26 (down from 2 mg in 2013), Lexapro 2.85 mg (down from 5 mg 2013) Amitriptyline (tricyclic AD) and clonazepam for 3 months to treat headache in 1996 1999. - present Xanax prn up to 3 mg. 2000-2005 Prozac CT twice, 2005-2010 Zoloft CT 3 times, 2010-2013 Escitalopram 10 mg went from 2.5 to zero on 7 Aug 2013, bad crash 40 days afterreinstated to 5 mg Escitalopram 4Oct 2013 and holding liquid Xanax every 5 hours 28 Jan 2014 Xanax 1.9, 18 Apr 2015 1 mg, 25 June 2015 Lex 4.8, 6 Aug Lexapro 4.6, 1 Jan 2016 0.64 Xanax 9 month hold 24 Sept 2016 4.5 Lex, 17 Oct 4.4 Lex (Nov 0.63 Xanax, Dec 0.625 Xanax), 1 Jan 2017 4.3 Lex, 24 Jan 4.2, 5 Feb 4.1, 24 Mar 4 mg, 10 Apr 3.9 mg, May 3.85, June 3.8, July 3.75, 22 July 3.7, 15 Aug 3.65, 17 Sept 3.6, 1 Jan 2018 3.55, 19 Jan 3.5, 16 Mar 3.4, 14 Apr 3.3, 23 May 3.2, 16 June 3.15, 15 Jul 3.1, 31 Jul 3, 21 Aug 2.9 26 Sept 2.85, 14 Nov Xan 0.61, 1 Dec 0.59, 19 Dec 0.58, 4 Jan 0.565, 6 Feb 0.55, 20 Feb 0.535, 1 Mar 0.505, 10 Mar 0.475, 14 Mar 0.45, 4 Apr 0.415, 13 Apr 0.37, 21 Apr 0.33, 29 Apr 0.29, 10 May 0.27, 17 May 0.25, 28 May 0.22, 19 June 0.22, 21 Jun updose to 0.24, 24 Jun updose to 0.26 Supplements: Omega 3 + Vit E, Vit C, D, magnesium, Taurine, probiotic I'm not a medical professional. mattinsmom
Oh I don't think you are alone in feeling numb. I also don't think you are not feeling anything. You sound angry and frustrated (rightfully so). You are experiencing emotions, just unpleasant ones. I decided to stop my meds after spending a weekend sitting on my couch - doing nothing. I didn't read, watch tv, talk to anyone. I simply sat and stared and knew something had to give. I could see that I had gone so far down that I didn't recognize any part of me anymore. Except for that part that gets back up. You have that part too. You keep getting up. That is why I know that you are going to make it thru this. I can't advise about tapering. Sorry. I do agree with others that no matter how you proceed, listening to your body is very important. Current: Lorazapam: 2mg: 4/9/15: 2mg - 1.5mg: already sick/nothing noticed. Meimeiquest
Muddles, are you still on the Pill? I just saw your post about bleeding. The clinic I am going to has an interesting take on it. If you would like to see it, there is a video at mensahmedical.com in the resources on copper and women. I am just starting treatment, but either I have had a great placebo effect or it is really helping me. 1st round Prozac 1989/90, clear depression symptoms. 2nd round Prozac started 1999 when admitted to dr. I was tired. Prozac pooped out, switch to Cymbalta 3/2006. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to mania 6/2006--then I was taken abruptly off Cymbalta and didn't know I had SSRI withdrawal. Lots of meds for my intractable "bipolar" symptoms. Zyprexa started about 9/06, mostly 5mg. Tapered 4/12 through12/29/12 Wellbutrin. XL 300 mg started 1/07, tapered 1/18/13 through 7/8/13 Oxazepam mostly continuously since 6/06, 30mg since 12/12, tapered 1.17.14 through 8.26.15 11/06 Lithium 600mg twice daily, 2.2.14 400mg TID DIY liquid, 2.12.14 1150mg, 3.2.14 1100mg, 3.18.14 1075mg, 4/14 updose to 1100mg, 6.1.14 900 mg capsules 7.8.14 810mg, 8.17.14 725mg, 8.24.24 700mg...10.22.14 487.5mg, 3.9.15 475mg, 4.1.15 462.5mg 4.21.15 450mg 8.11.15 375mg, 11.28.15 362.5mg, back to 375mg four days later, 3.4.16 updose to 475 (too much going on to risk trouble) 9/4/13 Toprol-XL 25mg daily for sudden hypertension, tapered 11.12.13 through 5.3.14, last 10 days or so switched to atenolol 7.4.14 Started Walsh Protocol 56 years old Link to comment
btdt
My he is an arse. Be careful not to jump too fast away from him in case you need meds... I know... sucks but some have put up with their doctors crap just to get the meds they needed to taper. I kept my doc on the string for over a year after cold turkey as I was so afraid I had done the wrong thing and the other shoe would drop which means I would hit some form of crazy beyond and above any I had ever known and wanted somebody on the inside to tend to me should it come to that. I had some very wild times in cold turkey but I had also had some very wild time from adverse reactions and while on the drugs too. When things got dicey it was good to know I had an in even if it was one I could not trust all that much. The not trusting him or the press of these drugs at that point... kept me from calling uncle... that and a complete aversion to being hospitalized. Hearing and seeing things are frightening luckily I seen much more frightening things with my reaction to prozac ... so I held firm and waited it out. I kinda got stuck on this one on my way down to read your latest post so I will go read now. My only other advice about the arse is to make you appointments far apart so you don't have to see that much of him, just a thought. I too hate that my doctor did not get and picked apart any information I took to him. We have to do what we need to do for ourselves with their help or in spite of them. Peace to you WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG Had a car accident in 85 Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89 Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. mlrp
Dear Muddles, Just the briefest hello, but very heartfelt. I am so very sorry about your struggles. I will also admit to being selfishly frightened by what you are going through, as I have yet to begin a taper off Mirt. And my gut tells me it is really mostly to blame for my own struggles. I send you healing, calming thoughts. And hopes that we will one day both be Mirt success stories. You are very strong just for being here. 04/2013 diagnoses: severe insomnia, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, agoraphobia. PTSD (my diagnosis) Original scripts: 30 mg mirtazapine (Remeron) (1x day), 75 mg Bupropion HCL (Wellbutrin) (2x day), and 0.5 lorazepam (1x day or as needed) 05/05/14: Onset of acute Wellbutrin withdrawal symptoms after haphazard "taper" of 6-8 wks. 05/10/14: Joined this site. 05/11/14: Reinstated approx. 25 mg Wellbutrin (1x day) 05/14/14: Switched to 12.5 mg Wellbutrin (2x day) 06/28/14: Changed lorazepam dosing to .25 mg 2x a day - seems to be reducing anxiety flare-ups 07/28/14: Dosing Wellbutrin in a (home made) solution form 12.5 mg (2x day) 08/15/14: Remeron 28 25.2 22.7 20.5 18.5 16.7 15.1 13.6 mg (home made) solution 05/16/15: Have been dosing lorazepam at .5 mg in the morning, .25 mg in the afternoon, and .25 mg at bedtime.
