how about reflexology or massage?

I do both every coupe of weeks and found that it really helped when going through WD.  I wouldn't start it at the early stage of WD though as it put my head in to some strange places.

So happy for your appointment with Dr. Healy. Let us know how it goes.

I suffer from depression, anxiety, pure-o ocd, and panic attacks since 2004. Been on multiple different psychiatric drugs since 2006. Never had a significant WD problem before, only brain zaps for a month and then I'd be fine...............Been on Cipralex (escitalopram) 15 mg and Fluanxol (flupentixol) 1 mg since Sep 2014. Stopped taking the Cipralex after a fast 20-day taper.Took the last 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 5th, 2015. Then took Seroxat (paroxetine) 10 mg for a week, and stopped it too. Severe WD started suddenly on Feb 16th. RI 5 mg Cipralex on Feb 18th, 2015. RI worked and was relatively stable for a while................April 7 - decreased Fluanxol from 1 mg to 0.5 mg and took it at this dose for a week. - BIG MISTAKE; April 13 - WD starts creeping in; April 14 - RI full dose of Fluanxol 1 mg => severe muscle twitching and jerking when trying to relax and fall asleep, overwhelming sense of doom, dread, terror, and horror, insomnia, hoping to stabilize.
Tried doing a 10% cut off Fluanxol in the end of May for a few days, but quickly updosed to full dose because the twitching returned.
Experiencing waves and windows in the following months.
Unsuccessful brief taper attempt of Fluanxol by 5% on November 1st. Symptoms hit the next day. Too scared to continue tapering, reinstate full dose.
Severe crash in November after stupidly trying a barbiturate on November 9th. Grave mistake. Sense of unshakable inescapable internal torture, like my soul is in hell being tortured, terror/horror/dread/doom (probably akathisia?) that gets especially bad when trying to relax and fall asleep, muscles twitch, jerk and move on their own, shaking, insomnia, can't eat, confusion, disorientation, brain not working normally. Never felt so bad in my entire life. Never experiment with other meds while in WD! Praying to God I stabilize and get back to my baseline.
December - things getting even worse.

January - unbearable suffering

How I am? What shall I say. Intrusive thoughts - withdrawal flourishing, possibly jobless on Friday, not a penny in the till, I am really an example of "prosperous human being". But I think we should take it with humor. Ok, till now I did not kill anyone, so I assume, I am doing well.

And I think, that it great that you are not psychotic. I am also not. It could be also worse.

Muddles, it will get better also for you. But I think it is good when you write down your symptoms and speak about them with Dr. Healy. He has surely big experience and can tell you if it comes frm withdrawal or not. And if it comes from withdrawal, then it surely goes away. I dont think you have to live with it your whole life. Most people heals from 18 month to two years without meds. You are still in the point where it is normal to suffer. It can really turn for you every day.

PS. That is great, that you named the father of my children " a slime". It felt so good. I am so angry about him. Really, I have never seen a bigger slime in my whole life.

Hi Muddles,

That's a good idea writing a list.  I'd like to suggest that you put it in the bag you will be taking with you NOW, so that you don't forget it.

Also, be aware that you may need to complete a form/questionnaire when you get there.  As soon as I am handed a form I start stressing.  I've learned to glance at it, look away and take a few deep breaths and then start reading from the top.  Also taking a short break and thinking of something else (eg looking around the room at pictures on the wall, glancing at the TV if there is one) for a little bit helps me too.

It would also be helpful if you have a list of dates, medications and dosages to refer to instead of having to remember when you are there.

Good luck.

Appointment iwent well....validation at last.

He's going to write to my GP. He told me that I would most likely have difficulty with any medication now - including antibiotics, which I kind of already knew. I asked him to include this in the letter because being drugged with anything scares the hell out of me.

He believes I will get better than I am in time.

No real other suggestions. I got what I went for and so grateful I got to see him.

Muddles, it is great that you got validation. I am sure you will get better in time. I know it is hard for you but I am really really sure that your body will solve it. Be proud of yourself, that you were able to keep so long without any medication. It shows really that your brain is still intact and your inner strenght.

How are you feeling these days? Do you feel somewhat better or is it still the same?

This is great! I'm so happy for you. Especially about him saying you're going to get better.

Feb 2015 Took venlafaxine for 5 days only... experienced withdrawal that made me completely non-functional

Mar 2015 took under 1mg of Sertraline for 10 days in an attempt to combat Venlafaxine withdrawal. Got adverse reactions.

After stopping Sertraline, withdrawal got much worse. New, horrific symptoms.

June 2015 Still non-functional but slowly getting better. Still brain zaps, migraines, sweating, heart racing, depression, crying spells

September 2015: 24/7 brain zaps, twitches in the face, no concentration, bad memory, language skills deteriorating.

Think you will get better..I mean this crap this bad cannot, just cannot last forever..

Great you had appointment with David Healy..

2000 - sertraline for job anxiety low confidence (17 years old) ..which turned the next 16 years into nightmare!

On/off sertraline severe withdrawals every time. 2014 - felt better as reduced dose of sertraline no more inner restlessness. Doctor rushed off again. Hit severe withdrawal. Lost the little I had in life. Couldn't get stable again on 12.5mg. Was switched to prozac. Had severe reaction to prozac..came off in November 2015 at 6mg as felt more confused and damaged on it..Even more withdrawal ..rage, depression, dyphoria, near constant suicidal ideation, self harm impulses, doom, concrete block in head, unable to do much of anything with this feeling in head..went back on 6mg of sertraline to see if would alleviate anything. It didn't..reduced from December to June 2016 came off at 2.5mg sertraline as was hospitalised for the severe rage, suicidal impulses, and put on 50mg lofepramine which in 2nd week reduced all symptoms but gave insomnia which still have..psych stopped lofepramine cold turkey..no increased withdrawal symptoms new symptoms from lofepramine except persistant insomnia which has as side effect.

Taking Ativan for 8 months for the severe rage self harm impulses 1-3 times a week (mostly 2 times a week) at .5mg. Two months (I'm unsure exactly when the interdose started to happen) ago interdose withdrawal seemed to happen..2 days I think after the Ativan.

Nightmare that could have been avoided!

So happy for you! Did he seem to think the sensitivities to medication would be permanent?

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

Muddles - so you've been meds free since Sept'15? If that is the case then things will get better. I found the first 3 months the worst and then the next 3 months did get better, I was able to keep my fulltime job down and take care of myself.

No treatment - infact the opposite....I cannot treat this with anything. There was no mention of drugs at all. Just advised excersise.

Regarding the senstivities Luv - he didn't say if it was permanent. I would think I would always have this sensitivity now though. I was allergic to certain antibiotics before mirtazapine. I'm sure this is why I am severe - genes have a lot to do with this I'm sure!

I am sure I now how PTSD on top - having frightening flash backs of what has happened whilst on the drug and off. So many more cognitive problems too. I want to get these checked after Christmas. There is a good centre down in London that see young people with these problems. The headaches are severe again too.

2008 - Doctors appointment with stress induced anxiety led to Citalopram prescription.

Severe adverse reaction

Mirtazapine prescribed - adverse reaction but told to stay on.

Hi Muddles.  I was reading about EMDR which seems to have a better response rate than CBT on people who have been diagnosed with PTSD.

Hi, any links to Trauma release exercises that you recommend NoMeaning please?

I've not gone through EMDR but I know someone who is GAD and says that they have found it to be a benefit. It seems to be better than Tapping or EFT.  But again I haven't done any of those either. To chicken whilst I'm in WD :)

I have read it. This is so terrible. How can they give Prozac "off-label" to 14 year old children? I dont understand it. But it is actually what happened to all of us.

05/2013 Lyrica 100 mg / per day for pain + PGAD resulting from caesarian delivery11/2014 started to taper: 50 mg per day/ for one week then c/tafter one month reinstated at 50 mg /per days of 10 July 2015 drug free-

It's because the doctors are absolutely ignorant towards the side effects of these drugs. They pretend they don't exist. Pharmacies over here in Ireland often don't hand out patient information leaflets with the drugs. You just get a paper bag with a blister of pills. No information, nothing. That's what happened to me too.

When I complained about the doctor and the pharmacy, both lied and claimed they had thoroughly informed me. Such a disgrace.
