Doses Ninabird.  Shep wants to see the doses, not pill weights with the Lexapro.

And okay, I've gone over some of this.

You told me that the average pill weight for a 10 mg Lexapro was .123

And do not feel bad Ninabird, this is not meant to make you feel bad, or wrong.  Heaven's I could barely do math for my own taper back when I did that.  And given your current drugs and their effects plus tapering, I, we understand it is very difficult cognitively at times when tapering and figuring it all out.

And from there, I did the math to figure out what your dose strength was with your last 2 tapers:

https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/27044-ninabird-effexor-withdrawal/?do=findComment&comment=617886

114 mgpw is 9.27 mgai(this is your dose to report)  Scroll back in your introduction here Ninabird to find the dates, that you posted here in your introduction, when you said you were making those .001 tapers.

And then you'll be able to answer Shep's question, at least for the last 2 tapers that I have tried to help you with the math with.

Likely too, on your klonopin and cymbalta, if you go back to July 1 in your narratives here in your Introduction, you'll find the information you need to answer Shep's questions too on those drugs.

115 mgpw is 9.35 mgai(again this was your previous dose to report) And when you made that reduction, I had thought you were previously on 9.5 mgai, making that reduction a very small one, I came up with it being 1.6 %.

On 10/25/2022 at 5:38 PM, Shep said:

The reason I'm asking is so we can determine your tapering rates over the past few months.

Shep, on the Lexapro, I think Ninabird began tapering from 10 mg on 6/27 or June 27th.

And Ninabird, Please correct me, if I am wrong, this is your taper afterall.  And I only tried my best with the math and explanation on those last 2 tapers of .001(as you keep reporting).  And then can only try to explain how that works out in dose strength, mgai.  After clarifying with you.

Please list:

  • July 1, 2022 - Klonopin dose in mg, Cymbalta dose in mg, Lexapro dose in mg
  • August 1, 2022 -  Klonopin dose in mg, Cymbalta dose in mg, Lexapro dose in mg
  • September 1, 2022 -  Klonopin dose in mg, Cymbalta dose in mg, Lexapro dose in mg
  • October 1, 2022 -  Klonopin dose in mg, Cymbalta dose in mg, Lexapro dose in mg
  • And for any changes this month, list  Klonopin dose in mg, Cymbalta dose in mg, Lexapro dose in mg

And now, she is on 9.27 mgai as of ?, can you fill in the date Ninabird please that you went to .114 of weight(in grams) or 114mgpw?

Previous to that was 115 mgpw or a dose of 9.35mgai of Lexapro.

Geeze, I might be making it worse.

Anyway to sum up, if you were on 10 mg back on June 27th?

And now are on 9.27 mgai(as I calculated and recalculated based 10 mg Lexpro pill weighing 123 mg.  That's 10 mgai weighing 123 mgpw.  Same thing.)

I come up with a 7.3% reduction, since June 27th through now, with the Lexapro.

That's over a 4 month period.

Forgive, if I made it more confusing.  Can only do my best.

Best.  L, P, H, and G, mmt

Thanks for doing the math on all of this, MMT.

@NinabirdThis is a very conservative reduction rate. Well done on not rushing this.

When upticks in symptoms happen with a slow taper, sometimes the best thing to do is hold and work on non-drug coping skills, avoiding as much stress as possible, and resting when you're able.

Since you work, you may want to schedule some vacation time or take a day of sick leave if you have it available.

Hi Ninabird,

How is today?

It sounds like you might appreciate some help with your update/edit of signature, so I'll show you what you could do there.  That will make it so much nice and easier for us all to be able to refer to.

😪Zoloft 20mg 2/21, BuSpar ( bad reaction)

Klonopin 1mg 2/21 CT Zoloft in hospital put on Remeron, clonodine and Trazadone 75mg 3/21 Taken off Remeron & Clonodine 3/21 put on Prozac 20mg.

Klonopin .50mg take .25mg twice daily

8/21 crosstapered to Lexapro (highest dose 25mg) Tapered Trazadone 7/21

1/22 tapered down from 25mg to  10mg Lexapro in 3 weeks. (still holding at 10mg)

started Effexor 37.5. ( on Effexor total 5 weeks)

2/22 told to stop Effexor and go directly to 20mg Cymbalta for two weeks. 3/5/22 30mg Cymbalta.
Estradiol .5mg 2016

Started liquid Lexapro 5/10/22

Back to pull form Lexapro 5/22/22 (couldn’t tolerate liquid)

*Resumed Lexapro 10mg BMS Taper on 6/27/22 2.5% =126mgpw July 9 -2.5%= 123mppw 9.50mg

7/29/2022 increased Klonopin to .75mg 8/1/22 back to .50mg Klonopin (body didn't like the increase) Lexapro 8/22 .116 9/26 .115

^ is what you have now

Here's what I might do:

2021 Zoloft 20mg 2/21, BuSpar ( bad reaction)

Klonopin 1mg 2/21 CT Zoloft in hospital put on Remeron, clonodine and Trazadone 75mg 3/21 Taken off Remeron & Clonodine 3/21 put on Prozac 20mg.

Klonopin .50mg take .25mg twice daily

8/21 crosstapered to Lexapro (highest dose 25mg) Tapered Trazadone 7/21

20221/22 tapered down from 25mg to  10mg Lexapro in 3 weeks. (still holding at 10mg)

started Effexor 37.5. ( on Effexor total 5 weeks)

2/22 told to stop Effexor and go directly to 20mg Cymbalta for two weeks. 3/5/22 30mg Cymbalta.
Estradiol .5mg (do you mean since 2016, if so you could just say since 2016) 2016

Started liquid Lexapro 5/10/22 Back to pull pill form Lexapro 5/22/22 (couldn’t tolerate liquid)

*Resumed Lexapro 10mg BMS Taper on 6/27/22 2.5%(and you ARE doing a microtaper, it really is not a BMS or brassmonkey slide taper though, so you could just say *Resumed taper from 10 mg Lexapro,  microtapering. the pill weight doesn't go in the signature, the mgai goes in the signature, and I am confused as you told me that your average for a 10 mg Lexapro pill was 123 mgpw, and not 126 mgpw) =126mgpw July 9 -2.5%= 123mppw 9.50mgai

7/29/2022 increased Klonopin to .75mg 8/1/22 back to .50mg Klonopin (body didn't like the increase)we don't need narrative or symptom information here in the signature like (body didn't like the increase) Lexapro 8/22 .116 9/26 .115-  (and okay I got that .115 is your scale readout, and that it is 115mgpw, which doesn't help to have here, we would much prefer the mgai, which at 115mgpw was 9.35 mgai, and then you said you went down to .114(what you see on your scale) or 114mgpw, and you would want to put the date, and that it was 9.27 mgai)

Okay, so there is a ton in purple now for you to look at and revise, or ask me about.....you can @ me if you need to.  I suggest doing this all on paper, a piece of paper and a pen first, your signature revision, and then when....... it's good to go for you......again, you go to:

AccountSettings/signature/update-edits(you just click on that underlined portion and it should take you right there)

Of course, do not put in my lengthy revision suggests, and I don't think it would take that many lines anyway.  That's just for you to look at and then work out a signature that works for us all.  I did bold your present drugs, and bolded the years, as that helps with clarity when anyone looks at your signature.

And please, don't fret, worry, get angry, etc.   You might, and you can.... You know all about neuroemotions now I expect.  And it is, no doubt.....really hard for you right now.  I am a bit worried.  So......would you also give an update as to how you are doing.  WD symptoms at play, or if you think you are having symptoms of overmedication- and adverse effects??   Talk to us.  Update.

In summary:

What are your days like generally?  Go from there.

Revise your signature.  Know what your dose strength of Lexapro is in mg, or mgai and report that in your signature.

Okay birdie.  I hope all is good enough.  Let us know what you need from us now.  Thank you.

L, P, H, and G,

Hi there. The last few days have been tough but I am getting through them.Thank you for your concern!  If you don't hear from me in a while, rest assured it's only because I am working (I am a Realtor) and my day is usually filled with appointments. I also have cut way back on my time on SA. I know Mods are crazy busy so I try to come on only when I can't figure something out on my own.

WD at play here. A lot of mental symptoms ie, brain fog, pressure, burning, DP, racing thoughts, headaches. I am pushing through with a positive attitude (well, trying) Symptoms of overmedication? Oh I am sure as I am on an SSRI and an SNRI. Tapering off of Lexapro then Cymbalta then Klonopin.

I work everyday not to marinate in how bad I am feeling. Some days it is easier than others. Overall I think I am coping the best I can.I am working and taking care of my responsibilities. My motto is, "Just keep swimming..."

Copied that Ninabird.  Good to conserve your clear headed ness.

A realtor......that's cool, a lot of work and jumping around, staying organized doing bunches of different tasks......I imagine.

I am.  A cat butler and maid.  A housekeeper, handy woman type.  Gardener.  Maid to myself.  Lol.  A semi-mostly retired Nurse.....I mean I don't plan on work in that field again.  A mother.  A friend.  A skier and hiker, swimmer, yoga practicer, music maker.  A amateur artist.   Not really retired so to speak.  Just waiting and hoping to employ at something good, just PT, sometime in 2023.

Sounds good.  Thank you for the update.  I will not worry.  I will change that to positive something.

Happy New Year everyone.

I have been holding my taper of Lexapro for almost two months. I’m weighing my taper. I’m holding at .115g. My symptoms the last few weeks have intensified and changed a little. I’m getting hot flashes now too. Fun.
I went to my Dr to get checked for a UTI. UTI is cleared up. Upon doing an internal exam she discovered I have some vaginal atrophy. I’m taking .50mg of Estradiol orally. I never really thought ghst hormones could be playing a part of how awful I’ve been feeling the last 4 years.
My question is, how safe ( WD wise) is it to add HRT at this point? Of course, I would add one at a time and go very low and slow, if it’s an option.
Does anyone have any experience in HRT during WD?

Hi Ninabird,

Of course we need to see the dose you are taking.

In mg or mgai.

I know I worked it all out above, and so would you scroll up and then report the dose please.

Both here and in your signature.

I don't want it to be a mystery to everyone else.

I do see you've taken estrogen before as well.

And I do know, that with me, and with many others.......the continued usage of AD's and other psychoactives I think, does play havoc with hormones.  Unfortunately.  I experienced perimenopause pretty darn early, and menopause as well, at age 44.  And so.......in my experience.......just another good reason to work work work on a taper plan and to manage eventually without drugs.

Topic:

-female-hormone-replacement-therapy-hrt-estrogen-and-progesterone/

Did your doctor do any blood work as to your hormones and discuss with you the finding?  An exam?  And discuss the findings?  And oops....okay you were told vaginal atropy.  That may or may not be significant.  Did you ask your doctor to tell you if that WAS significant?  It might just mean aging vagina.......I don't know honey......I really don't.  At this point all my parts are likely termed senile......LOL.  I don't care!  Some of the terms are deceiving and sound worse anyway then what they are.....is my experience.  So take this to your doctor.  Or do some research.  Be empowered.  Get empowered.  Learn.  Take charge.  You'll be healthier for it all.

My blood work began to show perimenopause.  It's not fool proof but certainly was enough to explain some of my monthy flucuations, as well as moods during that time.

Give us a rundown Ninabird of your current drugs and supplements now taken Ninabird.  It's been awhile and I would like to see.  Times on the left.  And then just drug and supplement or hormones on the right by name and dosage.

Thanks.  I'm glad and hope I'm reading right.......  That it is going well enough right now.  And you don't really wish to taper again quite yet.

L, P, H, and G,

mmt

Hey.  Uh oh.  This wasn't what I wanted to see.

1/23 .65mg Klonopin

1/23 holding .115 magi lexapro

1/23 30mg Cymbalta

1/23 .50mg Estradiol

I'm glad I copied your old signature above.  .115 magi is not telling of anything at all regarding your present Lexapro dose.

I just wanted in a reply for you to note the times on the left, and then your drugs by name and dose on the right.

Your new signature doesn't do any justice to your history with meds, or even your recent tapering history.

Then I wanted you to note the Lexapro in your signature with the dose strength.

.115 is what?  The weight in grams that you see on your scale readout?

You just needed to scroll up on this page to find the post that told you what dose you were taking.

I don't really know Ninabird, on this ? which I guess is all you really wanted.  Did you find anything in that topic I linked you to, or might you post in that topic too?  Maybe someone else will pipe up with an point of view.

Again, is your doctor saying your v. atropy is a problem?  Is it a problem for you and that delicate(I think) topic of sexual activity now?  Are your moods all over the place every month?  Are your periods irregular?  I continued HRT(bioidenticals) through my taper.  I was on them for perimenopause first and then menopause.  I did, cut my dose in half once I got here.  I mean that was a bit irrational I think, but I just really was freaking out about supplements and hormones and everything.

If your doctor says it's okay to go without the hormones......then that might be a good idea.

We're not medical or OB/gyn here.  You know this.

They are hormones.

Yes, they may interfere with tapering.

Anyway......I'm tired.  I think you really should be aware of the dose you are taking of escitalopram(Lexapro).  I mean I know it's above 9 mg now anyway.  I just wonder if you might be better served using a liquid.  And I know you had difficulty with liquid once.  So I don't know what to do.

I can turn around and around and explain for days how to figure out your dose of Lexapro from your weights and using the scale.  But it isn't working.

Is everything going okay in your work right now?  And life and functioning......I mean are you functioning well enough?  I said I would not worry and so I will try not to.

Okay, best.  L, P, H, and G,

mmt

A response would be good, when you get a chance.  Okay then.  Thank you.

Hi. Currently, I am in a wave. It been a week now. Hard to say if it’s from eating pasta one night, or Burger from a fast food joint, tapering or if the moon is over the 1/3 quadrant of blah blah blah. All I know is I feel pretty icky. I know this won’t last but feels like it will. 🤓

I’m sitting at my office desk, trying to get some files completed. I have two timelines to meet.
How are you doing?

Can anyone offer some encouragement for a fellow SA member in a wave? What do you do to keep the wave from overwhelming you?

Thank you for any tidbits. 🥰

Much love,

Oh, Nina, so sorry you are in a wave. I, too, am in a wave today and nothing seems to help. The heart palps are the scariest part. I don't know if anything I can say will help, but when this happens, I just try to keep in mind that this will pass and one day we will feel better. Sometimes that helps, but sometimes it doesn't.

On days like this, it's hard to hold onto hope, isn't it? But that's really all we have: hope for better tomorrows.

On these days when I feel so awful, I look forward to bedtime when I will sleep and be free of this for a few hours. In my dreams, I am not ill and living life. The hour before bed, I watch favorite old DVD's to try to relax and drowse.

I watch the clock and celebrate each passing hour of the horrible day knowing it will end soon and maybe tomorrow I'll have a better day. I know that is a lousy way to live, but we don't have much choice.

Today I went to the store just to distract myself and get out of the house. I think it helped a little, even though I felt so sick. As selfish as it sounds, I felt  envious of the other shoppers who were smiling and laughing and seemed to be enjoying themselves. I kept thinking "Why can't that be me?" Then I realized I was sinking into self-pity and thought about all those people in the world who are suffering far worse.

So, I don't have answers or suggestions other than to remind you that so many of us share your pain and are hoping for your recovery as well as our own. Do take care, my dear.

I second this - today I went to a large open air car park and just sat in my car with a cup of tea (after a long walk) and watched people go to and fro for a few hours - it was calming.

Hope you get respite soon

Currently tapering Mirtazapine; previously tapered Cymbalta 30mg from June 2018-Feb 2019 and Seroquel 150mg to zero from Oct-December 2020.

Supplements for Hashimoto's disease and histamine issues relating to Mirtazapine:   Vitamin D3 1,000mcg, bio-identical HRT, Selenium, Quercetin, Lutein, Zinc, Vitamin C, Omega 3.

Mirtazapine Taper: 2021 16th Aug -  transitioned to liquid from tablet by dissolving two 15mg tablets into a solution of 15 ml water and 15 ml maple syrup on a starting dose of what I thought was 7.5ml; 17 Sept  - 7.31; 24 Sept  - 7.13; 15 Oct  - 6.95; 6 Nov  - 6.78; 21 Nov  - 6.61; 5 Dec  - 6.51;

2022 - 1 Jan 6.41; 1 Feb  - 6.1; 9 Mar -  5.8; 13 Mar - 5.9; 7 Apr - 5.8; 21 Apr - 5.7; 7 May - 5.63; 23 May - 5.55; 8 June 5.50;  (got COVID on 12th June so held); 1 July 5.4; 15 July 5.32; 8 Aug 5.2; 15 Aug 5.1; 22 Aug 5; 19 Sept 4.9; 2 Oct 4.81; 13 Oct 4.71; (COVID Booster 17/10/22 so longer hold ); 1 Nov 4.65; 3 Nov 4.60; 10 Nov 4.55; 13 Nov 4.50; 17 Nov 4.45; 20 Nov 4.40;  2 Dec 4.30mg; 9 Dec 4.20mg; I discovered that the volumetric container measured 33ml rather than 30ml in Dec 2022. Following helpful advice from moderator OnMyWay (see her  reply of the 5th March) discovered taper with the dilution was 3.8mg (calculated by dividing 30/33 so that every 1ml of solution has  0.90ml of Mirtazapine.  7.50 - 0.90= 6.6ml which was the starting dose on 16th Aug 2021 not 7.5ml).  I decided to keep using the solution as I didn't want more change to deal with than I had to.

Thank you for your kind words. Yesterday I had a window from Noon on. It was glorious. I love having those moments. It reminds me that healing is taking place. It also gives me a moment to recharge for the next day and whatever comes my way.

I pray today is a good day for you!

You are so kind Oaktree. We find peace in the small things. For me, this morning, it’s reading my Bible and listening to the birds outside singing. Soring is in the air in Northern California!
I hope you have a wonderful day! Thank you for your kind words.

@Ninabird Just wanted to say hello and I’ve read a bit of your journey. What I’ve been doing regularly that helps a lot with my taper waves/windows is walking a few miles 3 or 4 times a week, limited caffeine, plenty of water and yoga 3-4 times a week. I don’t always stick to these things all the time, but when I do I feel so much better. Good luck to you, we can do this. 💕

  • 2015 - 2022: Lexapro 10-20mg, tried to taper off 3 or 4 times during this time period.
  • 2018 - 2020: 100mg Trazodone (at night for sleep)
  • Around mid-2020: tapered off Trazodone (took 2 or 3 months)
  • June 2020 - March 2023: 10mg Doxepin at night for sleep (stopped cold turkey 8 March 2023)
  • Current supplements/Rx: Fish Oil, B-Complex, Biotin, Vit C, Ca/Mg/Zn, D3, Evening Primrose, Loratadine, Valtrex, Beet root extract.
  • Since October 2021 PRN 0.25mg Xanax ~8 times a year for panic/stress.

2022 Lexapro: started at 20 mg, ended at 10mg with 10% drop every 6 weeks.

2023 Lexapro: 3 Jan 9.75mg - 22 April 5mg (2.5% drop every week); held 5mg April - Aug; 21 August 4.88mg - 31 Dec 3.01mg (2.5% drop every week).

2024 Lexapro: 7 Jan 2.94mg, 14 Jan 2.86mg, 19 Jan 2.79mg, 26 Jan 2.72mg, 28 Jan 2.66mg; 2 Feb 2.59, 5 Feb 2.5mg (10 week hold); 12 April 2.46mg.

Thank you 6,

looks like we are almost on the same taper mg. I hope your taper is going well or as well as can be expected.
Thank you for the suggestions. I do walk a mile every day. I gave up caffeine over a year and a half ago. Cleaning up my diet. I do stretch my body regularly. Fresh green juices several times a week.
I wish I could be better at floating with my symptoms when they ramp up instead of trying to fight them or figure out why they are ramping up. I think that makes the suffering worse. I’m a work in progress.

I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

Nina

Appreciate the thread @Ninabird. It sure helps to read another persons journey through. It helps to be reminded of the truth that windows do occur. Waves do not last forever. There is hope for a new day, hour or minute  filled with ease.

I can also relate to the inclination to struggle against the symptoms. Hard not to want to fight when under attack.
Tired of defining life by tapering woes.
One day we will breath easy and enjoy lots of life's sweet moments and all the gifts from above. Maybe even a little today.
This thread helped me today.

Just wanted to let you know your words have been balm for me today.  @6ofclubs19 and @Oaktree1

Hi @benesh

So nice to hear from you. It does help to know that you are not alone.
Waves do not last forever. They may feel like they do, but they don’t. Even a short window is a glorious thing!

Hi everyone,

While today is filled with WD symptoms and my head is pounding, I wanted to write that I am still grateful. I’m grateful that my symptoms are tolerable right now. I’m thankful  that I have everything I need, right now, to get through this day.

Hugs to all that are going through pain right now. One day, we will be on the other side.

Hi everyone.
I am so grateful for today. I had a busy open house, a great walk w my dog. A lovely conversation w my beautiful Texas friend.
I just finished watering the flowers I planted in my yard and hanging basket. The birds are singing.
Am I in a window? No, and I didn’t let that stop me….today.

Did anyone else do anything wonderful today in WD?

Not enjoying today at all. I wish these awful mental symptoms would subside.

Hi everyone and happy Friday!

It has been a hellish week. Symptoms have intensified 10 fold. Lots of brain pain and fog, burning, crying, no motivation, anxiety. This is so darn hard. I know that I am strong and I can get through this. Today, I am needing some reassurance that I will get through this and that everything will eventually be ok.

Big hugs and prayers, Ninabird

Dear determined Nina,

Everyday is a day closer to freedom. I am sorry it has been such a challenge. I can sure relate.

In my quiet time, I was thinking about the word heal.

Heal= Hope in Him

           Encourage me an others

Accept by His mercy and grace

Lean on,  learn from, listen to the Lord who loves you.

someday soon we will be singing hallelujah at the top of our lungs.

lots of strong hugs and prayers.
